A tranquil oasis about 6 kms from Ubud township. The rooms are beautifully appointed, a very comfortable bed and generous outdoor area which allows you to relax in the jungle setting. The gardens are beautiful as is the pool area affording jungle and rice paddy view. Many magnificent butterflies decorate the garden. The staff are excellent, and are very attentive. The breakfasts are delicious, extremely generous and offer a wide selection. The lunch and dinner menus are also varied and the standard is very high and at very reasonable prices. We ate there every night and were never disappointed. This resort is excellent value for money! If you are not familiar with the Ubud area please note that the traffic going to and from Ubud is diabolical due to the overwhelming number of tourists on scooters. Frankly this is a dangerous practice, many end up needing medical attention! Even though you are only 6 kms or 30 minutes by car it can take over an hour each way. This is not a reflection on the resort! They offer a complementary shuttle service so I would recommend earlier day trips in and out of Ubud.

We loved everything and had a wonderful time here. :) The treehouses are really nice and comfortable with everything you need (hair dryer, mini fridge, smart tv, fresh water, daily cleaning, etc). The food is delicious, they have lot of options for breakfast, lunch, dinner and for snacks as well. We fell in love with the super healthy juices.:) There are lot of inhouse services such as scooter rental, massage, morning yoga, laundry, tours, taxi, feee transfer to Ubud and so on. We felt like everything is given what we need. If you like yoga, do not miss the yoga class on Wednesday morning! :) The resort itself is beautiful, in the middle of pure nature, with a nice garden and an amazing pool. Perfect for chilling and relaxing even for a whole day. From the wonderful things I would like to highlight the staff separately because they are the nicest and most attentive people we ever met during our holidays. Their contribution was a key to enjoy our staying to the fulllest. :)

The resort is in the outlying area of Ubud so you need driver, taxi, free shuttle or scooter to go anywhere. But for us it wasn’t a negative thing because we like to rent a scooter and also you can use the free shuttle of the resort.

We loved our stay at Rumah Kayu. We were a family of 4, two adults and two 9-year-old children. We were delighted how secluded and quiet the area around and the resort was. It really felt like we were in an oasis and immersed in the Ubud jungle. The cottages are simple wabi sabi style and beautiful, immaculately clean and maintained. As the resort is only a couple of years old, the wooden houses are in great condition compared to other places we stayed and given how quickly wood deteriorates in the tropical weather in Bali. The breakfast had lots of choices and was delicious and we thoroughly enjoyed dinners there as well, and a stand out was the Nasi Campur! It's about a 30 min drive to Ubud central, however the hotel offers a free shuttle a few times a day which was great. The pool is big and tranquil and we really enjoyed our stay!

The room used in the spa smelt musty and towels were damp. However, the actual treatment was good. The bath towels ripped quickly.

We loved this little gem of a hotel. Friendly and helpful staff, lovely rooms (outdoor bathtub and shower), great pool area, good breakfast and a lovely morning yoga session. The grounds are immaculate and there is a skilled team of gardeners who takes very good care of the lush green gardens. It is located about 20 minutes from Ubud center, but we enjoyed the peace and quiet. Went for a nice walk along the rice fields in the area. The hotel helped us arrange a half day trip and a hike up Mt. Batur and both trips were great.

It would be great to have a thin bathrobe in the room for going to/from the pool. And given the craftmanship in Bali, a nice woven straw bag to pack for the pool would also be great. Also, a "Do not disturb" sign would be good to add to each room.

From the facilities and staff to the food, this place was exceptional. Nestled in the middle of rice fields outside of the busy Ubud. The swimming pool is beautifully located next to the restaurant under the trees, with butterflies and incense floating in the air. Explored Ubud a few times, just a short motorcycle journey to the North. The hotel rented a motorcycle for me for a reasonable fee and with zero fuss, which was fantastic. The staff were friendly and accommodating, allowing me to modify my booking a few times. I enjoyed it so much that I stayed a bit longer.

Where to start from... everything was perfect at this hotel. Floating breakfast can be served when requested a day before, Staff of the hotel are super nice people, always ready to help out and serve. Room service is free. From the front desk to the driver everyone is super nice and helpful. Pool was clean and the view was amazing. And the food was good.. loved the duck meal. And ooh they actually have nights where some artists come to sing during dinner.. simply magical... all for free. And for dinner they serve bread and "Canape" for free in addition to the food. There is free Yoga on Wednesdays or Thursdays. They also do flower baths at a fee. There is also free shuttle to the city and back. You just have to inform them on time. I didn't want to leave when it was time to check out.

Beautiful grounds and gardens that are very well maintained. A peaceful and tranquil setting where you can hear the birds in the morning and no sounds of traffic. Beds were very comfortable, and the pool was lovely, offering views of rice terraces and palms. Substantial and enjoyable al a carte breakfast included in the price. We really enjoyed our stay as a bit of R&R is exactly what we were after!

The property is quite remote, about 20-30 minutes' drive from the centre of Ubud. That is not exactly a bad thing, as it was very peaceful and relaxing, but I would suggest that it is best suited to couples and families looking for a quiet getaway. The traffic can be bad going into Ubud so scooters are best (or be prepared for a little bit of waiting time by car). However, the resort does offer a complimentary shuttle three times a day that will take you into Ubud, so that was a great bonus.

The resort is much more beautiful than the online pictures. You are staying in a green oasis, with beautiful wooden houses dispersed throughout the area. The place is perfect for any type of travellers (friends, couples or families with kids) as the houses are pretty separate from one another, so privacy is key. We were 4 people in 2 houses, so it was very comfortable. The beds are enormous. The sink with mirror are in the main living area, while the toilet and the bath/shower are in 2 areas separated by a door. Our rooms had both walk-in shower and bath tub, but we only used the shower. Our favourite part of the resort was the restaurant and the food service, as you have the option to eat at the tables near the pool or have food brought to your own terrace, at the room.

Unfortunately, our rooms were the nearest to the reception, meaning that every morning we were waken up by different noises made by employees carrying stuff or by other tourists that didn't understand they should keep quiet while walking near other rooms. Also, we used the cleaning service that brought our clothes with the exact same spots, so it was a good waste of money.

The setting is amazing, relaxing and there are not too many rooms which means the hotel is not overly commercialised. The rooms are stunning and large. The pool is beautiful and the massages are good and very fairly priced. The food was good and the breakfast generous in size. The staff are really friendly and helpful.

We had an amazing stay and these things shouldn’t put you off booking - more feedback for the hotel: - it would be nice to have yoga more than once a week (it’s on a Wednesday if you are picking which nights to stay) or to have the class as an extra but not have to pay for a private class. - the restaurant could have more of a vibe in the evening - perhaps if you created a bar place to sit it would have a mix of people in it! - we did book in the low season but there was building work right out the front of our cabin which was nicely disguised but you could hear it between 08:30 and 16:00. It would be nice to have been informed before we arrived so we could have prepared ourselves or chosen an upgrade/downgrade if it was available.

I loved loved loved the ambience. The set up is extremely well done. Beautiful lay out of the rooms in between beautiful gardening with minimalistic but true Balinese furniture. It’s simple but stylish. The pool is also amazing. Also really liked the vibe of the non touristic area. It’s simply beautiful and peacefull if you like to stay a bit away from a Ubud center but still be able to access the buzz if you want it.

The food wasn’t amazing. Ate in a lot and none of the dishes really suprised me. Even a simple avocado toast was the worst I’ve had in Bali. The satay was presented nice on a tiny grill but without proper explanation it meant it burned the meat. Also the amenities in the rooms will be in need of refreshment over the next few years. The bathtub didn’t drain and the cleaning people just left it Like this untill I asked the reception to fix it.
