Stayed here for two nights for my husbands birthday. Beautiful hotel and beautiful decor. The food in all of the restaurants was exceptional. The staff were all excellent. The bed was very comfortable. Having elemis products in the bathroom was a nice touch. Nespresso machine in the bedroom is always appreciated.

The bathroom was dated and is due a makeover. The hotel could easily refurbish the bathroom/s and keep it in the style of an old property but certainly it was a tad bit rough around the edges. Leaking sink tap which constantly dripped. Counter tops dated and chipped. Shower head needed replaced as the water did not disperse evenly.

The breakfast was delightful and spa was beautiful

Room floor was slightly dirty. Picked up a few bits off the floor and put in bin. The jets in the bath wernt working which was a disappointment.

The setting of this hotel is wonderful and beautiful, our room was verycomfortable and quiet. We had dinner in the dining room and the food was delicious. The service was excellent.

The room came with a free breakfast. The line was so long waiting for a table that we didn't wait and left without eating, which was unfortunate. If they had opened up the other dining area, which was adjacent to the breakfast area, I don't think there would have been a line. I realize there may have been a wait due to staffing, but at least people could have been seated.

The breakfast was lovely and staff

Rudeness of one of the receptionist on two separate occasions so we kept our distant from her if we had any other queries. Choice of food in Douglas hyde restaurant. Two meal choices. Two of the family did not like the menu and there was nothing else but try at €65 a head and leaving hungry In the upper bar no seats as reserved for afternoon tea and seats remained full until 8pm. Lower bar was closed as wedding. So we either stood or went into a very open dining area which was the walk through for a wedding reception. Bedrooms /spa /gym t swimming pool etc.

The hotel decor, staff, spa, grounds, bar(s), and facilities were all excellent. The casual dining meal was very good and my "rare" steak was cooked and rested perfectly.

The buffet breakfast is a disaster - best to order from the menu, as the eggs were "rubber" and the other items were sitting in a bains marie for a long period of time. The 8-course tasting menu was a bit hit & miss as some of the courses were unrecognizable. The beef in the dish was perfect but the halibut (that me wife had) was over-cooked.

The Family suite was beautifully decorated and the bathroom too. It was clean and the beds were very comfortable. We dined in the Douglas Hyde restaurant and the staff were exceptional and attentive, I loved the personal touch from the chef who sent out a Happy birthday plate with some chocolates for my son. We ordered breakfast in the bedroom which the kids requested and it was a fabulous spread with great choice to suit all tastes. The grounds were beautiful and a great place for walking and easily accessible to neighbouring towns like Sligo where we spent an evening ice skating. Lastly my children were so impressed with the Christmas decorations overall a great experience and we will definitely be making a return trip.

The food was really good. Anne o’rouke…. The lady we met at breakfast was a fantastic. Such a lovely person and knowledgeable person. Great asset to the premises.

Given room with a small heater and quite a strange layout, room 112. Got the impression that heating wasn’t working in the room. But it was….. later understood why there was a heater there. Changed rooms to 115. Better layout and more up to date. Turned heating on at 3:30 it was 19 degrees…. Left it on all night and it was 22.6 by the next day….. extremely slow…. Can only imagine what the other room was reading if it needed an extra heater. Staff were very sombre, very few smiles, the lovely young lady In The drawing room who seemed to be the manager there was so nice, very pretty and a great bonus to the castle. She was a local girl I think.

This hotel was the highlight of my trip ! ... From the minute we walked in we were welcomed by amazing lady on Reception (I think called Maria) ... She personally took us to show us where everything was and saw us to the lift. I mentioned in passing that I had sadly been unable to get anything booked in at the Spa and she promised she would sort it and get the spa to call me..... Which they did within 10 minutes and arranged a slot for me. The Castle is STUNNING !! ... The Drawing Room (which is casual dining) is stunning and you are made to feel like you are the priority even when they are busy. Dungeon bar was great and took our drinks through to the Library and sat by the open fire .. honestly it was 1000% worth the cost. I would not normally spend this much on a room but it was such a special experience I would highly recommend to anyone wanting something special ! The grounds are stunning, we did a short walk around as it was freezing outside but there are lots of trails. Breakfast was great and very well organised. Yes is was expensive .. around £16 for a cocktail, but so worth it for a WOW experience.

Literally nothing ! ... 100% recommend

Myself and family went for one night but ideally you would want to spend at least two nights here. It is in a remote area so the lake and the hotel itself is really what is so lovely about Kilronan. The castle itself is gorgeous and exactly what you'd expect from the pictures online. The staff were very friendly and we asked for late checkout as we couldn't stay for two nights and they kindly let us which was great. The food was lovely myself and my son ate in the casual dining hall and there was a lot of choice which was great.

The check in itself was long I think we were waiting 10/15mins before we had anyone talk to us. Now the staff were lovely it just seemed there wasn't enough during that time. Then the only other thing I didn't like was the woman's showers in the spa/leisure centre. They could really do with a deep clean and a bit of maintenance; handles broken off the dial on the shower, shower gel broken off the wall and just on the floor and hairs and fluff on the shower floor. In a hotel which offers such a prestige look and feel in other areas it just lets it down. I expected shampoo and conditioner to be also in the showers as is usually the case in hotels at that price.

Lovely staff, lovely relaxed bar, great breakfast. This hotel was a really lovely place and we really enjoyed it.

Two small issues which could be altered easily. 1.Swim lesson on in pool when we went down (that was no issue per se as all children deserve this), but parents in watching with no shoe protectors on, I view this as poor hygiene practice, strollers with dirty wheels also in the pool area. This could do with being rectified asap. 2.Casual dining area is just a room used as a walk-way to lifts and leisure centre from lobby, this should be screened off I think.
