I liked the design of the room there the most. Also, it was exceptionally clean, staff was super friendly and service oriented. Location was perfect.

I was missing the variety of the food in breakfast buffet. Also, if you come 1 hour before closing breakfast, plates were almost empty (no omelet, no boiled eggs, no bacon, no vegetables) and staff was not refilling it. It came also as '' a surprise'' that 4* hotel was not offering gluten free bread. Basically it was no savory food there. If you come from a Nordic country you don't eat cakes for breakfast :) Breakfast buffet was the most disappointing there.

The place exceeded my expectations. The staff is nice and polite, and not only the reception, but everyone. When the housekeeping staff sees you going for breakfast, they nicely ask you if you have preference when they can come to clean the room, and so on. I stayed in a superior single room and liked it a lot. The size of the room is ok, and it has a sufficiently large desk so that you can comfortably work with your laptop computer. The bathroom is also good and has fanstastic bath towels. Previous travelers have given mixed opinions about the breakfast, so let me try to resolve the disagreement. I stayed in the hotel for a week and noticed that the selection of food changes from day to day. One some days they offered only one type of meat in the cold cuts section and a very limited selection of bread and pastries, on other days they offered more. The variety of food was never great, but usually kind of ok. Besides the usual things, they had scrambled eggs, and I liked that because some hotels do not bother to cook anything. They also had a very good fruit salad (which may also be a seasonal thing -- I stayed there in August-September). Overall, the breakfast was better than in many other hotels in Milan and I am satisfied with it.

The only thing that is not perfect is that the room doors are not very tight. The walls seem to be ok and I didn't hear anything from the neighbors, but I was disturbed once by people talking loudly in the hallway very early in the morning, and the door did not do any good job of isolating the room from the outside sounds.

Hotel d’Este is great. Great location close to the trams and metros. Lots of dining options close to the hotel. Breakfast was basic but practical before a long day in Milan. Rooms are clean and comfortable. My room was in the back of the hotel… not much of a view but very quiet. I would recommend this hotel if you are looking to be outside of the Duomo area but want to be able to reach it easily. It is walking distance to Bocconi university and the Navigli district and 1 direct tram ride to the Duomo.

Would have liked a bar on site for drinks without having to go out. No coffee machines or kettle in the rooms.

Our room was a really lovely size, beyond our expectations, as was the bathroom. Plenty of toiletries available. Breakfast was very good - simple but lovely and fresh. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Lack of tea and coffee making facilities in the room. We were on 8th floor and it was unfortunate the lift was out of order. We had to use the service lift, which was very small, and walk the final floor.

We liked the reception staffs, old style formal professional and friendly service. Interesting decor, comfortable rooms, clean and quiet area (chosen on purpose) located with a few convenient bars/restaurants outside the door. Not far from the tourist area but not close to be noisy. Lovely breakfast area and fast, friendly service.

The only small thing: I would like to be able to cut my own thickness of toast, chose seeds or wholewheat and toast it myself like other hotels do. It would be good to have more heart healthy options like low fat milk (I have to keep my cholesterol low you see)

The staff was very helpful and friendly. They have a 24 hour front desk which came in handy when we had to check out and catch a taxi at 4:00am. The facilities are well kept and clean. The breakfast was very good with a great variety of food to choose from. The breakfast staff was very attentive and nice. The room was large and very clean. The hotel is close to multiple restaurants which were all nice, although seemed to cater more to the university students (e.g., bar, pizza by the slice, etc.). The hotel is a 30-minute walk to the Cathedral - not close but not too far.

The view from our room was not very good (rooftop with vents, no view to the street), but we didn't stay here for the view/location. The street that the hotel is on feels a little more run-down, but not dangerous or "sketchy". Our bathroom fan didn't work and the bathroom smelled very strongly of smoke. We closed the door so that the smell didn't go into the room which was fine for us. The walls are very thin and you will likely hear noise from other rooms/hallway. Luckily, our neighbors were quiet at night so it wasn't a huge issue. The price was fairly high, but we realized we were visiting during Milano Fashion Week which increased the price due to overall lack of availability across the whole city.

Excellent spacious rooms, good toiletries in room, nice breakfast with wide variety of fresh fruits, yoghurt, etc. Lovely staff from the cleaning staff, reception desk and waiters at breakfast.

The pillows. They a flat and firm, some a bit lumpy. Should also have an option fluffy soft pillows, better yet memory foam ones. Please have gluten free bread and other options

Located in a central region, close to Navigli, nice for business and leisure. The Hotel staff is very professional, and helpful, temperature of the room was perfect (outside was above 35) , and room was very quiet. Bed is large and comfy, WIFI is perfectly reasonable also for videoconferencing. In the neighborhood a broad choice of restaurants allows for a nice dinner for each taste. Next door a convenient parking at a reasonable price.

Room was generally clean, but still you find hairs here and there. Nothing major but not really pleasant. Breakfast has limited choices, but this is not uncommon in Italy

Well, this was our 3rd stay in this hotel so we knew what to expect: The hotel staff is very friendly and cooperative, the rooms are clean, well sized, the beds are not too soft and the breakfast is good.

1. The safe in our room did not work and so we had to use the main safe at the reception. The staff at the reception made it very easy but of course having it in the room would have been more convenient. 2. The key-cards for our room had to be re-programmed every day. For some reasons they stopped working repeatedly (all both) so one had to go to the reception and let it program again. So, both things were not too much of an effort but could have been better.
