It is in the old town, which is easy to negotiate around its narrow roads with lots of interesting artizan shops and plent of restaurants we were kept intouch thought our stay by the staff at the Roof garden .It is a 25-minute walk to the ferry service of the almalfi coast. The train station is 25 minutes, where the train tickets to pompeii can be sourced a good visitors' info centre is near the harbour front near McDonald's.

We were not informed that there are major refurbishment works to the main shopping street, which is a little inconvenient at busy times . Overall, it did not affect my visit to Solerno Solerno is a city of faded grandure the people are very pleasent and helpful well done

Although tucked out of the way and maybe not the easiest place to find, Roof Garden is an absolute gem of a place to stay, in old town Salerno. Only a 20 minute walk to Salerno train station, once you've got your bearings. Lots of bars and restaurants in the immediate vicinity ... and old alleys and streets to lose yourself in to explore the old town. The rooms have a great sized terrace, overlooking the facade of a church and with a small piazza below. The rooms are bright, clean and fresh, with adequate tea/coffee making facilities. Comfy bed, nice hot shower. Roberto is a great host, good communication re arrival/departures ( I was able to extend my check-out time ) and on call to answer any questions you have. Breakfast was served at a pasticceria less than a minute's walk away...... and lovely it was too !

The weather could have been kinder ....... but you can't blame Roberto for that !

The location, while hard to find, was the Quintessential old-styled Italian village. Roberto worked to meet us and show us the way to the b&b. For breakfast, you are given a voucher for coffee and pastry at a cute little cafe located about 1/2 block from the room, (best cappuccino we’ve ever had). Very nice/large terrace. Minutes walk from restaurants, sights, grocery, and the parking garage. Final note, I left several shirts in the closet and Roberto was kind enough to ship them back to me in the U.S. He also replenished the in-room coffee pods, upon request. Thanks again, Roberto!

There’s nothing that I didn’t like about our stay in Salerno and the Roof Garden B&B. This was a great base from which we could drive the Amalfi Coast, explore the southern coastal towns, view the Italian countryside, and check out Pompeii or Naples. Final note: apparently Italy doesn’t believe in road (name) signs so make sure you have a cell phone with gps guidance and a data plan that works in Italy.

We had a perfect stay at this hotel. It was very clean. Roberto was a super nice and very helpful host. He even allowed us to have a late check-out, and when we had a problem with transportation, he offered us to stay one more night. The hotel is very central, located in a nice area with restaurants and bars. The room was quite big with a large balcony. The view from the balcony is amazing. I will recommend it to everyone!

Roof Garden is located in the old town of Salerno and worth a trip uphill. A taxi from the station is about €10. It is located beside the Duomo area with its many bars and restaurants. The apartment is spacious and spotlessly clean with a beautiful terrace. Roberto lived adjacent and was contactable for any queries. Italian breakfast in a nearby cafe was tasty. The area felt safe even at night.

Local children play outside till 11pm so there can be some noise at weekends but that wouldn't stop me returning.

Really wonderful place. The host is super accessible, and really happy to help. I had several Salerno related questions and he got back to me almost instantly. The place was super clean and comfortable. The location is truly perfect and close to everything. Tons of good places to eat and felt safe at all times of the day. The balcony is adorable and a great place where to unwind at the end of a busy day of tourism.

Nothing not to like

Comfortable mattress and coffee machine in the room.

The pillow very flat requires a better quality plumped pillow. Water requires a few minutes before it gets hot. Shower could be better not much water comes out and toilet requires descaling. Large amount of limescale in toilet pan. Towels were not changed in 4 days we stayed at property. Noise upstairs first thing in the morning and noise outside from bars at night. But not enough to disturb sleep too much.

The apartment was spotless. It was great to have an outside space to sit and relax, and having the facility to make tea and coffee was great.

Not having breakfast on site was the only small downside. Would have preferred to have more choice for breakfast also. Pastries were very nice though.

We liked the room with the nice terass. Clean and very modern, new warderobes, fridge. Also Netflix for rainy days. Close to harbour/Marina. Nice coffeshop for italian breakfast. Roberto the host was very nice. Great stay, so many good restaurants at good price close to Roof Garden!

A bit far from beachclubs, but there are busses for a few €.

It's a beautiful place to stay for a short-term vacation. It's in a great location, very kind stuff. I like to stay at this place.

The price for parking is around 50 EUR per day. And the breakfast is a bit unusual for me—only a sweet bakery without a classic breakfast, not what I expected, but it's usual for this city. We had an issue with the breakfast budget, but the host was kind enough and solved the problem so we could order what we needed.
