We stayed in Domus Mariae Albergo for 6 nights. It was our base place. We can’t express enough our gratitude to Davide and Cinzia, the managers if this small but very well kept hotel for their care and assistance. Hotel doesn’t have an elevator. But Davide was very helpful and kind to carry our suitcases up to the second floor. Every single day we were treated as a family. We felt like a family throughout our stay. Location is perfect. Off the mail tourists rout, but within 5-6 minutes walk to everywhere on Ortigia. It is a short walk to athe swimming area. The water is Chrystal clean. Ortigia is easy to drive out to different points of interest in the Siracusa area. Davide recommended how to manage the car parking. It was very helpful. Breakfast was very good. You can order an omelet, poached ir fried eggs, etc. We highly recommend this hotel to stay, and will be back!

Davide in reception was incredibly helpful and kind. The seaside views from the rooms 202 and 201 were really wonderful. The cats were cute. Overall it was a very good value.

Although I had specified, when booking, two rooms with queen beds, we were given rooms that each had two twin beds. Thanks to Davide, we were able to switch one of the rooms for one with a queen bed, but not the other. There was no coffee or breakfast in the hotel (apart from the kettle, teabags and instant coffee available in the room). However, I knew this when booking. What I didn't know is that the sister hotel across the street was closed for renovations, so we could not go there for breakfast.

The hosts Cynthia and David were wonderful. They did everything to make sure our stay was exceptional . They went over and above helping with finding parking and where to eat and they treated us like family. Our Sicily vacation was superb because locals like Cynthia and David are warm, lovely, professional and extremely welcoming and friendly! The view of the sea from our room was gorgeous.

The hotel staff is definitely the nicest and friendliest I have ever come across, especially Davide who went out of his way to make sure we were happy with our stay. The room was large and comfortable. The only issue is that we were on the third floor and there is no elevator in this converted, historic convent. Anyone who isn't young and fit should therefore request a first floor room. But the view from our third floor balcony was great and the hotel location is lovely -- very near the sea and many restaurants and sights of the historic town of Ortigia. And we loved the two hotel cats who enjoy visitors!

We chose to stay in Ortigia because it is the old Siracusa; it is walkable, and so quaint. The Domus Albergo is an old building right on the Ionian Sea, so beautiful, and the room was very large. The staff was outstanding: helpful and kind.

So many stairs to get to our bedroom. BUT, the staff helped with our large suitcases. The breakfast was served in the main building (not a problem, it's across the street) and was good, not great.

I had a generous sized single room with a sea view, which was really a treat. Unfortunately, the weather was stormy so I didn't get to enjoy the rooftop deck. The bed was fantastic, better than most of the hard slabs you find in this region. It's an older hotel but well maintained and cozy. The staff was super helpful and recommended an excellent restaurant. The location is easy to access off the main road, not a small alleyway. It's close to the sea, but about a 7-10 minute walk from the main streets with restaurants and bars. The stairways up to the rooms are narrow but not a problem. Overall, a pleasant stay.

Very close to an amazing daily market, and a short walk to numerous shops and restaurants. I liked the daily stair climb to our room; others may find it challenging. The rooftop terrace was basic but inviting. Hallways outside the sleeping rooms are comfortably furnished and lit in case an early riser needs to sit and wait with a book.

Some would prefer few stairs; there is no elevator. The rooftop terrace could be furnished a bit more comfortably with cushions. May be a little short staffed for meeting specific room requests.

Fantastic location by the seaside, with direct view of sunrise over the sea. Cute balcony for enjoying the seaside. Property well maintained, clean. Updated bathroom fixtures with a rain shower. Friendly front desk persons, helpful with advice on local attractions.

No lift, hence need to navigate stairs but staff were willing to help with luggage. Shower stall also bit too small though manageable.

The location is ideal. Very easy walk to restaurants and sights. Ortigia itself is beautiful with honey colored buildings dating back centuries. The hotel staff— Davide and Cinzia— were incredibly hospitable and helpful with any request. The breakfast was delicious and ample.
