The hotel was excellent. We decided not to stay on Ortigia itself but the hotel was a x5 minute walk to the island & situated in a very nice part of Siracusa. The walk from the train station to the hotel with our luggage was 10-15 minutes, very easy. Our quadruple room was spacious with comfortable beds & excellent air-conditioning. Everything is spotlessly clean. The fresh complimentary lemon granita in the lounge area is very welcome & the hotel has a lovely lobby & outside courtyard, as well as an outside seating area in front of the entrance. We were particularly impressed with the breakfast & it being served from 7.00am-10.30am made it relaxing & enjoyable. You can eat inside or outside in the courtyard, lovely. The selection of food is excellent with bacon, scrambled eggs, cold meats being continuously refreshed. Our breakfast coffees were made on demand, no vending machines. There is fresh fruit, cereals, toast, pastries...a very generous selection with plenty of friendly & welcoming staff on hand to assist. I would highly recommend the hotel.....the staff are professional & friendly and for us, being near but not in Ortigia, with its many tourists, was ideal.

Nothing, everything was perfect.

Location of the hotel is perfect, a few minutes away from Ortigia island. The interbus station is also 7-8 minutes by walking. There are plenty of shops and restaurants around the hotel. Staff was very polite and helpful. We arrived early in the morning and they provided us with complimentary early check-in as our room was ready. Breakfast is very nice as well. Great variety of pastries, fruits, cheeses and Italian charcuterie.

On arrival we were upgraded into a very comfortable corner suite with sitting area and spacious bedroom. The hotel is an older building that has been carefully maintained and is well decorated. It’s on the “mainland” part of Siracusa, not the island of Ortigia. There are several good, small restaurants nearby.

Breakfast is disappointing for a 4star hotel. Canned pineapple and peaches don’t impress when equivalent hotels are offering freshly prepared melon/ pineapple/ watermelon. Even a prepared salad of fresh oranges with mint would be a zero food miles possibility.

hotel is in a historical building located in the city near Ortigia. not sure how far from the train station but we have our own vehicle. the hotel staff told us that there were parking lots near by but we were lucky to find a parking space on the street. we walked into Ortigia and it took us only a few minutes. there were shops nearby and restaurants and we also found a laundry which was convenient. breakfast was served in the hotel and it was good and with enough choices. hotel staff are friendly and helpful. good stay.

Grande Albergo Alfeo has great location - lot of popular tourist attractions are in walking distance (Ortigia island, Neapolis Archaeological park) and great choice of dining facilities. If you arrived here by car - there are great parking place (Parling Syracusa 15eiro / 24h) located just in 5 min walking distance. If you are interested in 'Hop on - hop off" excursions - starting piont is located same direction as Syracusa Parking, very close to hotel. Staff - very proffesional, heplful and polite. Always ready to help. Room was spacy. Comfortable beds. Breakfast buffet was really good for Sicily - continental breakfast, not only italian style breakfast. Great choice for nice stay!

We arrived early and our room was ready! The location is excellent, just a short walk from the island of Ortigia. The building is impressive and the rooms are spacious. Housekeeping is excellent

Our bathroom especially the bath/ shower seemed a little tired. The outdoor seating area , in font of the hotel, could have been more appealing: the plants needed to be replaced or watered and the umbrellas could have been used to give a little shade.

This was our 4 time in this Hotel.The room was very clean and comfortable .breakfast is very good.staff speak very good english.

The room we had was on the street .was bit noisy at night . also around 5.30am someone disposed the glass bottles in the skips which woke us up with the sound of glass . Maybe should be soundproof . Also there was no parking bay free to park so we could get our luggage out and in the car .

Grande Albergo Alfeo will be great choice if you're traveling by car - really close to the hotel is great parking place ((Parling Syracusa), Ortigia island and Neapolis Archaeological park - just walking distance. Great choice of amazing dining places are located in Ortigia, as well as Market and a lot of shopping places. And don't forget about architecture and historycal objects. Hotel has nice interieur, our room was spacy with small french balcony. Very good breakfast with plenty choice of food. Good wi-fi. Very helpful and nice staff.

Location was ideal a 10min walk from the train station and a further 10 to ortigia island and old town. Hotel was very quite, clean, comfortable and offered a great tour of an olive grove with terra surti a must visit. I also availed of fishing with IG matea.buggea.fisherman. great experience and catch of a lifetime. One restaurant camurria, stood out around the corner. Sicilian family run, very friendly, accomadating and value for money. Touche across from the hotel didnt disappoint.

There was no evening dining in the hotel and no real atmosphere. But with everything on the doorstep its a reasonable priced, quite property

We stayed at Hotel Alfeo many times. Rooms are the same as in previous visits, but breakfast seems to have improved (keep it up) and complimentary lemon granita at reception is back, which is very refreshing after returning from a day out.

The hotel does not offer parking and usually we find free parking close to the hotel, but maybe a suggestion to Management could be to arrange with the paid public parking that is close by for a few free slots. Would avoid having to drive around the block a couple of times as people come and go, and the paid parking is really underutilised.
