This is a very cool spot in the heart of the town. It's very dark inside with artistic photographs and an industrial feel with exposed walls and brick work, we loved it! The room was huge and had not one, but two bathrooms along with lots of storage and a lot of complimentary drinks (rare for a hotel). Despite it's super central location, it was also very quiet at night with little traffic on the road outside, and we were literally a 2-minute walk from the heart of the shopping district. One huge plus also is the brilliant Puffin bar on the ground floor, which is an incredibly cool cocktail bar with brilliant staff and a massive range of drinks which you can enjoy in booths or lounging at the bar. The hotel also provides free (yes, free) coffee and croissants every morning for guests in its beautiful foyer area. The staff were extremely friendly and a joy to deal with, thank you. This is definitely a return-to when we visit the city again!

From start to finish this was one of the best hotel experiences I have ever had, and I have had a lot. Very welcoming reception staff. The room was perfect for a solo traveller but plenty big enough for a couple. Bed was super comfee. Great lighting . The shower was fab and there was a toothbrush, razor, and sewing kit for emergencies. Pillow turn down and Freddo frogs greeted me on returning after dinner !!😍There is a drinks station on every floor with sparkling water tap, coffee and tea There is complimentary breakfast downstairs every morning. Puffin wine bar is on the ground floor. Very cool vibe, great wine by the glass , a real local hangout. The location is amazing. A few steps to Cuba Street where you will find fantastic shops, bars and cafes , and a short walk to all the main attractions. There is nothing to fault about this Hotel, it is wonderful.

The moment we walked in we were greeted incredibly warmly, and Kayla (?) made checking in (and out) a very easy affair. She was elegant, gracious, kind, and knowledgeable. We were thrilled upon discovering the room, proving to be a perfect blend of industrial and chic with delightfully appointed separate bathroom & water closet. The handwritten, and 'Intrepidly' sealed, envelope and accompanying instruction letter were also a very nice touch. All attributing to one of the best nights we've ever had in Wellington. Thank you Intrepid Hotel - we'll look forward to the next time we get to see you!

Our only observation, was that the heat pump may need some attention (noisier rattle sound than it should've been making), though ultimately no major - it was still lovely and warm in the room.

This is a great experience. Quirky but beautifully designed and lots of thought and money has gone into the design.The decor is dark but its very stylish and there is still contrast and natural light. The room feels spacious and the separate toilet works well. The added extras are everywhere and the morning croissants are really good and the orange juice in the room is delicious. Staff were all delightful to deal with and helped with an early morning taxi booking which was appreciated. Loved that they had Real World toiletries as they are my favourite and the addition of a laundry room is a real bonus for travellers .

Very small niggles, not a fan of shower curtains but I get why they did it. Very little shelving space but I moved the treats, plates etc: to the fridge area and used that space. Neither of these things should put anyone off staying.

Central location, with parking a few doors up. HINT - use ParkMate and extend your parking every night and every morning - only cost $20 per day. Free croissant's and in-room treats every day. Super comfy bed and extra large. Loved having separate shower and toilet, with lovely toiletries.

Because the hotel is centrally located, it can get quite noisy, but luckily the hotel provides you with free ear plugs to help you get a good nights sleep.

I very much enjoyed my stay at The Intrepid Hotel. I received a very warm welcome. My room was very spacious and had all the amenities I required and more. The hotel decor is quirky and helps to give the hotel a unique feel. The hotel's location is also great - 2 mins from Cuba Street - and within easy reach of numerous restaurants and cafes. I also loved The Puffin - lovely wine bar on the ground floor of the hotel serving a number of delicious wines by the glass.

Nothing comes to mind - I particularly appreciated access to the Les Mills gym on Taranaki Street (excellent gym with a range of facilities, equipment and classes).

Loved the little touches. The continental breakfast was welcomed. Staff were brilliant, I was able to borrow an umbrella which was a lifesaver. The industrial feel with luxe touches was unique in a sea of hotels that are trying to emulate each other. The downstairs puffin bar is an added bonus.

The room was very very dark even with lights on , while it gives a certain ambience it wasn't the best light for working. Although there is a drinks station for coffee and tea on the landing I think it would be more convenient to have a kettle inside the room. The mechanics of getting back into the room with a hot drink was a challenge with the key access.

Proximity of the location to Cuba Street, and hotel amenities are really good. Friendliness of staff - they dropped by every afternoon to give out weather cards and chocolates.

A bit noisy as it's close to the bars and pubs (there's a bar downstairs from the hotel), but the hotel provided ear plugs so it's fine. There was one night where people were doing karaoke and it was louder than usual, but they wrapped up before we went to bed so it was fine kwe are late sleepers).

This was our third stay at The Intrepid. We have experience three different styles of room. It is very relaxed and comfortable and we love the industrial vibe of the decor. The bathrooms are well equipped with things you may have forgotten and we love the fridge and snacks. The clothing racks are practical and there is plenty of room for luggage. Great having Puffin bar downstairs and so many eateries within a short walk. It’s a reasonable Uber fare to the airport. Continental breakfast in the foyer is a good start to the day- warm and fresh.

No negatives

The rooms are exceptionally designed, every little detail is thought of. From a little shelf to put your keys on, to a ring light in the mirror that’s perfect for doing your makeup/shaving/etc. everything is tailored to your convenience. My partner and I felt incredibly well looked after, especially with all of the complimentary things that are on offer (a tea station outside of your room, fresh croissants available downstairs in the morning, a full stock of toiletries, and so much more). It was a wonderfully personal experience and truly captured to the friendly and eccentric vibe of Wellington. We will absolutely be staying again. Thank you to all the staff at Intrepid.
