Homely, cosy yet comfortable place to stay. Travelled with my son who is checking in for the 1st time to a nearby school, and as it was a totally new environment, the front office was very accomodative, responsive to all my queries prior and during my stay. Our check-in process, and arrangement of shuttles were top-notch, and special shout-out to Ms. Tomoko Morimoto, who speaks well English despite her shyness, and her passionate interest to ensure each tenant of the hotels are well served. Kudos to the front-office team. The onsen is a must try. Arigato gozaimase

When we first step into the room, we thought we smelt of urine smell as the bathroom was nearest to the door. Upon checking the bathroom, it was clean, so perhaps its odour from the toilet, and all needed was a few air fresher spray that you can find in the room.

The hotel has beautiful characters that passed its glory days but still charming and well maintained . Staffs, services, room, dining room which has very beautiful super-large glass window/wall so while having breakfast we saw very beautiful autumn trees 👍😍.

Bed topper is too thin so your back can feel springs below. Bed is very hard. Faucet is old style so difficult to control water temperature. Breakfast main dish is small portions but delicious and nice presentation. you can eat more breads, juice , soups …. at buffet stations .

The Staff went beyond the call of duty to make our stay comfortable. I suffered an injured knee at the nearby ski slopes during our stay. The staff helped arrange for necessary visits at two different hospitals, and the hotel changed our room to make our stay easier. It was as authentic Japanese hospitality as one could expect. We are really very grateful, and look forward to many more return visits. (The food, bath facilities and rooms are, needless to say, all completely wonderful as well. The private outdoor baths are clean and comfortable. I also highly recommend having dinner at the hotel. Very delicious.)

Very good value for money. Great food and plenty of it. You could walk to the ski field but no need to- there is a hotel shuttle you can arrange daily to take you and pick you up at day’s end (reliable and punctual). You can use the guests onsen or a private one - there is one for two people and another that can accommodate four people. There family rooms (combination Japanese and Western style) were modern, spacious and comfortable.

Perhaps best to stock up on snacks and supplies (eg wine) before arriving … or at Appi resort. The hotel does have a small shop though. Some more hanging space eg wall hooks in the room would be good.

At first I thought that it's a family run accommodation, but it's actually not. There are 2-3 people working at the reception. It's indeed a hotel! Breakfast: great coffee, food, service, environment Lunch: no lunch. I bet most people are at the ski Dinner: 3 options (chosen by the receptionist). All with beef as the main dish. Transportation: needed to schedule the shuttle every day, e.g., when to go to the ski, when to return, when to pick up from train station, when to depart, etc. Very close to the ski resort. Less than 15 minutes on foot. Two private and one public hot spring!!!! This is really my favourite part. Beautiful place! There's an area selling cup noodles, daily necessities, and souvenir. We live in a room for 4-5 people. spacious. large window. Beautiful view. Indoor clothing provided. Great renovation and decoration. Professional staff.

No lift. Taking luggages and bags upstairs can be difficult.

Amazing breakfast and dinner - we were never hungry! There was even an option to have a late-night meal from 9 to 10 pm. The reception was very friendly and even with limited English, they went out of their way to help make our stay as comfortable as possible. There was a shuttle bus to and from Appi Kogen ski resort and the train station. However, these need to be booked beforehand.

We booked a room for 5 people, but I think the room was more suitable for 3-4 people. With luggage, the room was even more cramped. Thankfully, we were able to store our luggage in a room near the reception so that we could optimise the space a little.

I wish that I had discovered this place sooner. My husband is a passholder at the nearby Appi Ski Resort so I booked the family room to work out of while he enjoyed the powder. We were impressed with the Cyprus bath in the room, but it had nothing on the outdoor rock bath. The outdoor baths are both accessible to all guests on a first-come, first-served basis (you can lounge in the lobby and wait for one to open up). The building itself looks like an old lodge and has a beautiful staircase in the lobby. The staff were all very helpful, and there were at least two who spoke great English during our stay. We also booked breakfast and dinner, which I'd say are a must. The hotel advised us that there are no food options nearby. We luckily had a car, but if you don't, definitely be mindful of this.

Not a negative for me, but my husband didn't care for the breakfast. It is a traditional Japanese set. I'd say its always worth a try, but Western palates might not enjoy it. They have scrambled eggs, bacon, croissants, cereal, and more in a buffet-style area as well, so you should be able to find something you like.

Breakfast is excellent: Japanese and ample quantities. Small selection of western food available. Dinners are sensational; a rotation between Sukiyaki, Bbq and Shabu Shabu. All delicious in their own way. Accomodation is 3 star and comfortable enough. There are private and public onsens - the public ones are, perhaps, slightly small. Location to Appi Kogen is perfect - a two minute drive at most, even in foul weather. The tariffs are very reasonable, in stark contrast to 1.3km up the hill, on snow.

We loved everything at the hotel during our 5 night stay. We were promptly picked up and dropped off at both the ski resort and the local station on the hotel shuttle bus. The staff were lovely; polite and super helpful. Coffee machine in the foyer, ski room, onsens, and the beautiful Japanese dinner and breakfasts were to be experienced.

Nothing.
