The staff are very happy to help, and acknowledge you when you enter and leave the building. They have lots of recommendations for activities to do in the area. The room was one of the most spacious that we stayed in within Japan. The attached Kanazawa Music Bar is a lovely spot to eat a filling dinner and grab a nice drink. There are lounging spots outside on the main level, as well as a small area on the 9th floor with 3 chairs - this provides a lovely sunset or nighttime view on a clear night. The location is excellent. It is found on a side street that is quiet despite all of the surrounding shops. Importantly, Kenrokuen Gardens, Kanazawa Castle, and central Downton is walkable. Recommend!

For awareness, the free common areas available for more than one person are largely: a small outdoor balcony on the 9th floor and the outdoor patio on the 1st floor (when the music bar is not open).

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I had an amazing stay at this hotel! From the moment I arrived, the staff went above and beyond to make me feel welcome. Everyone was incredibly friendly, helpful, and attentive, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. The hotel itself was spotless – the rooms, lobby, and common areas were all exceptionally clean and well-maintained. It’s clear that the staff takes great pride in keeping everything in top shape. I truly appreciated the warm atmosphere and attention to detail. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a comfortable, clean, and welcoming place to stay. I’ll definitely be returning on my next trip!

Kanaka Inn is great. The staff are wonderful, and the vinyl bar in the foyer is an excellent place to hang out. They really know both their drinks and their music! The room, by Japanese standards was huge, and even had a lovely views towards the trees of Kenroku-en! It was spotlessly clean. There were some great places to visit an easy walk away, and great shops along the pedestrian area where the hotel is situated, and beyond. As it was my husband’s birthday while we were there, the staff booked Plat Home in advance for us (highly recommended) and also surprised him with a slice of delicious chocolate birthday cake complete with sparklers in the bar! Wonderful place!

We loved our stay here - it’s perfectly located for the old town and not too far from the station. The music bar is fantastic. Great cocktails, atmosphere and ambience. We were staying with a baby and it was brilliant to have a bit of an early evening vibe before dinner as we obviously can’t stay out late! The onsen is beautiful, clean and very relaxing. The staff were so helpful. They went out of their way to recommend and book us restaurants at short notice, accommodated a last minute change to our booking, and booked us a morning cab to the airport. The room itself was really spacious, clean and comfortable. Washing machines and dryers on site are also really helpful. Couldn’t recommend it enough - great value for money.

Nothing at all. The breakfast menu didn’t really suit us but it’s so well located, you can easily go and find something for your taste.

i just want to commend the staff for going above and beyond to make sure that my stay was comfortable!! they were always so polite, wishing you well when you go out and greeting you when you come back plus i really appreciated how the staff took care of forwarding my luggage to my next accommodation, making sure to call the next accommodation to make sure someone would be able to receive my luggage and then making it so that i could save a little bit of money as well cos i had to send two luggages. i would definitely recommend staying in this hotel and i would love to stay here again next time i'm in tokyo!!

Large room and generally everything was ok! Bed was super big for myself as a solo traveller. Location is close enough to the main attractions. However Kanazawa is quite spread out so you’ll have to take a bus or two to get to attractions further away. Concierge staff were always very sweet and polite :) even saw one wearing a pride flag pin woohoo

Cleaning was rather erratic and not totally clean, as well as the provision of water bottles— some days it was provided and some days not. Perhaps this is in line w their eco cleaning? It appears that the soaps are not refilled very often as I had one that was close to finishing 😅 Well, overall nothing super bad, but it is the small things.

The hotel team recommended a couple of restaurants and made reservations ahead of my stay, a much appreciated gesture by busy folks at a small hotel which doesn't have a dedicated concierge desk.

The room was spacious, clean, quiet and comfortable but a tiny suggestion for improvement would be to add a couple of hooks in the room for clothes/ jackets and another in bathroom for towels. There are already hangers and perhaps a single bathroom hook which are sufficient for a short stay but some foreign visitors stay longer in this lovely town.

The hospitality and kindness of the staff really stood out to me. The staff makes you feel so welcome. They have recommendations on virtually anything you can think of—whether food, sights, or activities. These staff recommendations were nice because it shows that the hotel itself values the individuals' perspectives. The music bar was great. The aesthetic was clean and the location was fantastic because I literally walked everywhere from the hotel. The bed and pillows were some of the most comfortable I've had the pleasure of sleeping on in Japan. And the rooms were really spacious.

The staff were beyond lovely. I had an issue with my ac not working at one point and they jumped to resolve the issue. When it proved difficult to solve they immediately offered to swap our room and offer free drinks as an apology for the inconvenience. Things do go wrong from time to time but what is telling is how a company goes about resolving the matters. The location was quiet and the beds were comfortable (which has proven a rarity in Japan for westerners). It has a nice bar and very clean rooms. I was happy with my stay here.

The staff were helpful and friendly, the music bar had a great vibe and tasty food and drinks. The location was good, close to shops and bus lines. The price was good.

Just some little things that were odd: the room floors were inexplicably not level, so there were weird little “steps” (that weren’t the same height, but less than 2 inches tall) from the foyer into the bath, and into the room that I kept stubbing my toes on or tripping on. The shower curtain smelled mildewy and so I had to keep the door closed. And no cabinet/drawers to put clothes in.
