Private hot spring and sauna were incredible. Two bathrooms really helped. Absolutely the best equipt designed and decorated accommodation I have had the pleasure of booking.

Breakfast and dinner were both incredible and mediocre, depending on the staff serving. Our first meal was absolutely perfect, with an incredible employee taking care of everything. We had a different employee for two meals, and they were much less proficient.

Love the onsen (high salt content and relaxing)! There is a section that is open air too (rotenburo). This hotel is over 900 years old and is the oldest one in Arima (built in 1100). You can feel a special vibe of serenity while staying at the hotel. The food was amazing! (We had kaiseki dinner and formal Japanese breakfast.) They don’t serve food in the room though so you have to go to the restaurant. The staff were all very friendly, gentle and helpful. My daughter got mosquito bites and they gave us anti-itch cream. They would help you with all luggages and I believe they cleaned the wheels before putting them in the room! The hotel can give you a lift to the bus stop for you to take a bus straight to Shin-Kobe station.

I loved all the attention that the staff provides to the guests, it feels like staying in a grandma house where you can relax because you know that there will be someone that will care about you. Shuttle service that take you from the Arima Onsen station to the ryokan, very impressing dinner and breakfast for a full Japanese experience.

The private onsen unfortunately is aesthetically poor than the public one and unfortunately for me and other guests with tattoos you don't have chance (I don't blame the fact that tattoos are not allowed in public baths, I respect the cultural differences and rules. It's to say that maybe they could do something about the design and decorations of the private ones)

The hospitality of the staff was top notch, the food, the accommodations were better than I had imagined. They were also careful to accomodate my nut allergy as well as my friend's vegetarian dietary restrictions. We felt well cared for and it was definitely a relaxing stay.

That I didnt stay for an extra night. I really loved it there, one night wasn't enough to enjoy this Ryokan or Arima Onsen.

I was trying to figure out what you are paying such a premium for here and it really comes down to two things: 1) Location - all throughout our stay in Arima we saw people dragging their luggage up steep hills in the heat to the hotels up above the town. It looked very unpleasant. This place is right at the bottom of the hill, nestled in among the shops, very easy to get to. 2) I counted the steps from my room to the onsen: thirty-five. We were so close to the famous soothing Arima gold water. It was great. The staff were friendly and helpful.

I booked this place for our anniversary, thinking that a $500 a night ryokan would have to be an amazing experience. The place was great, but there was nothing extra special about it compared to a $200/300 a night ryokan. The food was good, but we've had better at less expensive ryokans. One of the dining rooms is fancy, but the other one feels like more of a restaurant than a ryokan. As mentioned above, you are paying for the location, which in the end may not be worth the extra money.

We spent here a couple of days in November. It was our first time in ryokan with onsen and it was amazing! Nice location in the center of the city. Onsen is inside the hotel so you can use it anytime you want. Staff is very friendly and ready to help around the clock. There were Japanese clothes called yukata; you can wear it inside the hotel. No breakfast at the hotel, but we ordered Kaiseki dinner and breakfast. A bit expensive in my opinion, but it's worth a try. Delicious, unique and very satisfying. Thank you for that unique unforgettable experience. I would strongly recommend visiting this hotel.

Everything was great

The hospitality was truly exceptional and the rooms were nice and cosy, albeit a tad old fashioned but I guess that's also kind of the point. The Kiseki meals were of course really delicious, and worth every space of our tummies. The onsen facility was very well maintained. The view could be better but otherwise an impeccable place to stay when in Arima. Also, the hotel is right next to the bus station which is so convenient! Would highly recommend to friends and family!

Perhaps the onsen maintenance hours could be rescheduled because we wanted to take a dip after our breakfast but it coincided with the maintenance period so it was a bit of a bummer.

Arima Onsen is close to Kobe, but has a nice countryside feel about it. Our room was much larger than expected, the staff were attentive and friendly, and the onsen was very good, with the famous Arima golden water (salty and with high iron content). A nice detail in the onsen was that the gender seperating wall was lower at the end, enabling a conversation with my wife. The food was also very good, we stayed 2 nights and had 1 night dinner and breakfast in our room (for an extra charge). The ryokan also offers a free shuttle to the Arima Ropeway and to the railway station. The salon was also nice with free coffee and lots of books and a high-end tube amplifier. The building is wooden and old, so expect to hear some noise from your neighbours, but nothing too bad.

Nothing

Excellent dinner and breakfast. Very good onsen. Recommended for those who enjoy classic Japanese ryokan hotels. Due to the dense development there is not enough privacy and connection with nature that you would expect from the best ryokan hotels in onsen villages.

Deluxe Suite with Private Hot Spring - "Shinraku 501" I can not recommend. Large room on the 2nd floor with its own onsen. But the layout is not very functional despite the large area of the room. Price / quality below expectations. Therefore, take a simple room with a shared onsen.

I feel lucky to have the chance to stay at this hotel. The location is right next 500 feet next to the Bus Stop, shops and restaurants. If you are tired of walking and just want to spend time resting, this hotel is just perfect with a beautiful spa and massages service on site. The rooms are spacious and quiet. I had dinner on the first night of a 2 night stay and it was very good. Most of the staff speak some English. I have no problem with communication and I don't speak any Japanese. My room has 2 massage chairs that made my stay very special.
