Quiet residential location, very close to train and bus stops and also only 20 minutes walk from Kyoto station. Restaurants nearby and convenience stores just round the corner. Accommodation was clean, comfortable and private. Bed space was roomy, with power, light, ventilation and plenty of extra space for belongings. Storage area for bigger suitcases but I had enough room to have all my stuff in with me. There is a small kitchen & free tea/coffee, lounge area and massage chair. Laundry was only ¥200.
Not my favourite pillow and showers are not same floor as rooms but these are small things. Overall a great place and I would book again.

Everything was exceptionally great! Great location, great host, great room condition. I was most impressed by how clean the facility was. Also liked that the toilet paper was thick enough to use... which is not common in Japan. To mention a few points I loved the most about this place... 1. Great location. Very near the subway station and bus stop. Just 15-min walk to Kyoto station, which saves you from carrying the heavy luggage to the crowded bus. 2. The place is (obviously) smoke-free. But you can smoke in front of the family mart, about 3 min walk, which was a great relief to me. 3. There is an izakaya, Cafe, ramen-ya and udon-ya very near the place. 4. The bed place is satisfactorily spacious. 5. Kind host! 6. For anyone who wants a nice and warm bath, there is a bathhouse 10-min walk from the place. The name is Umeya. I'd say this guesthouse is undoubtedly better than most of the business hotels I've experienced so far. The place has all that is needed and beyond.

The location is excellent! It's an easy walk to major sightseeing areas and hidden gems, with plenty of nearby restaurants. There's the big river, 鴨川, and a small canal (not sure of the name) nearby, so strolling by the water became one of my favorite things to do while staying at the guesthouse. The house is very clean, the common area is a great place to spend time in the early morning, and the shower is comfortable. The rooftop is a perfect place to take a nap when the sun is out, and I loved it! The owner is a beautiful person, and I truly enjoyed our conversation!
The doors of the rooms on our floor are a little heavy, so it can be loud when closing.

The host spoke great English when he saw me struggling with conversational japanese, and was friendly and responsive to questions or local recommendations. The facilities were very clean, and I liked that the rooms were locked. The individual spaces were segmented like large capsules and had electrical outlets, windows, fans, lights, and AC. The laundry service was very cheap, and the showering area was individual and spacious, with soap and shampoo provided. It was conveniently located in town.
I honestly can't think of much, I noticed the electrical outlets in the pods were slower than in the lobby to charge devices (6 hours to full vs 1 hour to full), but it's more than enough if you're just charging overnight.

- The beds themselves are pretty roomy compared to most other hostels / bunk beds I have stayed at -- it could fit the bed with about 1 to 2 ft of space next to me for me to store my smaller purses and bags. It's also the more traditional style of a futon on tatami mats, so you can also roll up the futon during the day if you want to (a bit of a hassle, but I thought the option was nice because it gave me some space to stretch). - Rooms were really clean and the overall hostel was peaceful and quiet! - Staff is friendly and speaks English well.
- Overall room is a bit small, so there isn't much walking space / area to store luggage. They had like a cabinet / nook area for each bed that could store roughly the size of one large checked luggage, but there isn't enough space to really open the luggage inside the room. - Since the beds themselves are in like nooks / capsules, the A/C doesn't circulate very well inside if you close the door. They have a small fan inside that connects the room to the outside area, but the fan isn't that strong so it is likely to be warmer inside.

The place is very clean and fragrant. The host has already readied everything to make each guest's stay comfortable. It's very homey as the kitchen offers everything like it allows cooking or heating of food, it offers free teas, and complete utensils. It also offers free laundry, you only have to pay for the detergent soap for 100 Yen. It's quiet so I was able to enjoy my rest after a long day of touring the area. Mr Ace, the owner of the place, including the young lady who is assisting him to look after the place and the guests are very warm, friendly and assistive. They are eager to provide tips and guides so you can maximize your vacation and get to enjoy Kyoto. I'd actually stay here again when I return to Kyoto. The place is also very close to almost everything. This includes the Kyoto museum, train station (3 min. walk only), restaurants and convenience stores. It's a perfect place for me.

Generous, helpful owner and staff. The pods are quite spacious and come with their own fan and window. The lounge with the massage chair is quite cosy and the kitchen is well equipped. Cleanliness was excellent. A bit far out but there are convenience stores/restaurants nearby. My second time here and would stay again.
It is a bit of a walk from the train station and the sights but there are bike rental places and bus stops nearby.

Check in was quick and smooth. The staff spoke English well. The location is pretty convenient and many temples shrines, and the entertainment district are within walking distance. The dorm beds feel very private as they are fully enclosed and very spacious for a capsule style bed. I was able to fit my belongings in the bed space with plenty of extra space left over. There is also storage space in the room for rolling suitcases. The sink within the dorm room was also a nice bonus as you can brush your teeth, do your make-up and hair without having to lug your stuff to a shared bathroom.

The single room is pretty comfortable since two windows inside so it is well-ventilated. Its space is sufficient for placing the suitcase packaging. The kitchen enables me to cook during the trip, and which is helpful for my diet balance. I like the living room, warm and it provides a good place for eating and working. The owner is friendly, though the room is at higher floor but thanks the owner for helping me to carry the luggage to my room when i arrived there. By 15 min. walking i can reach the Kyoto station so it's convenient for traffic, yet the environment of this hotel is quiet so good for rest here. The self-laundry service is also convenient.
If you choose to pay the fee when reaching, an extra processing fee for credit card is required. It's reasonable and I'm fine with it but it'll be better to remind on the page or in the message.

Friendly staff - though they're not always around they try to help as much as they can. Everything is clean and well-kept and the pods are properly isolated with a traditional style sliding door and even a small window with a retractable blind and small fan. It's a nice, quiet place to unwind after a day out on the town.
A bit of a walk from the train station(s) and the center but there is a bus stop nearby. Also it's not a very social hostel where you can meet other travelers but if you crave quiet this isn't a problem. Also the beds are traditional futon style and the pillows are buckwheat, so might be a bit hard for people not used to it (I am and it was perfect for me).
