Our stay at the Amanek Hotel in Kyoto was incredible. The first thing we noticed was the excellent location—you can walk to many places, and there's a train station and bus stops right next to the hotel, so transportation and location are a 10/10. The room was fantastic, very modern, and the furniture even seemed new. The daily breakfast was delicious, and I definitely enjoyed my stay here; I highly recommend it. The staff was very friendly and helpful at all times. The 15-hour flight from Mexico was totally worth it to arrive and relax at this hotel.

The main thing we disliked was the horrible smell of cigarette smoke that filled the entire first floor due to the smoking room. What bothered us the most was that the elevator was also permeated with this odor—I’m not sure if the ventilation systems were connected, but it’s definitely something I would recommend improving. Another issue, although understandable, was the breakfast hours. For most foreigners, the schedule felt a bit tight; there were many days when we arrived just 10 minutes after 9:30 am. Perhaps extending the breakfast time a little would be a good idea.

We stayed at this hotel for a few nights. The staff was really nice, we could send the luggage beforehand for them to receive and also leave the luggage after the check-out time for a few hours. The room was ok, with a big bed, a table with two chairs, a TV, a fridge, bathroom with a shower. We enjoyed the common bath (separated by gender), and the washer and dryer (paid). There was also a drinks vending machine and water cooler. We didn't have breakfast there.

The room was smaller than anticipated, with little space to move around but manageable. The cleanliness was okay-ish, the room was a bit dusty (under the bed where you store your luggage a bit too dusty). Also, the window faced the fake balcony, so no view. We received a room facing the street and it was quite noisy. If not for the common bathroom and the washer and dryer, I would have given a 7.

The location in more on the east side of the city center which made the walk to Nishiki Market, Kiyomizudera and other nearby attractions quite manageable. This goes without saying for Kyoto, but bring your walking shoes! There's so much to see just east of the river from this hotel. The staff were very friendly and upon request, were able to call us a cab back to Kyoto Station during check-out. There is a 7-11 very close by which made late night snacking incredibly easy! The included breakfast was tasty with both western and Japanese options. We shipped our luggage to this hotel which made things very easy.

The lounge had limited hours in the day/evening, so we weren't able to use the space to get some work done on our computers at a proper table. That would be an excellent amenity if the hotel made it available as a working space during certain hours.

The location is good. bus stop to go to Kyoto station is infront of hotel, and you can walk Hankyu- kawaramachi in 15 minutes. hotel inside is clean everywhere. The big bath is really nice for the end of the day. we love free drink time, including alcohol from 5 pm to 8 pm. we back from sightseeing every night 6 ish, and had a lovely free local beer and Japanese sake before heading dinner. that was super nice service!

we stayed triple (3 single beds) room. room is clean, but very, very small. we had a middle size suitcase and 2 cabin suitcases, which was not so much space needed, but no space to open suitcases and nowhere to put out clothes. so each time when we take out clothes or anything is struggling. we had to jump over our stuff and block the toilet door. room size is only negative thing.

The room was small but so well designed with a place for everything. Bed was very comfortable and again so well designed, space under the bed for storage of cases and room to get around. The shower was the best we have had. Great pressure and overhead or hand option. Breakfast was perfect. Breakfast staff were the best. Location was very good.

Lots of road noise- ear plugs would have been good. Some reception staff were very friendly others sullen and unhelpful.

The hotel is in a good location and it helps that they given recommendations for the local restaurants nearby. The facilities were good including the public hot bath which was clean and tidy and well worth a dip. The staff in the breakfast room were lovely.

Our room had some obvious hairs left by previous occupants- which should have been picked up by the cleaning staff. The room was extremely small. The breakfast was very basic, if your stomach isn't set up for the Japanese diet yet would suggest eating out. There are no stairs with the elevator slow to call and the fire exit on the bottom floor was blocked when I checked so no means of escape if there was an issue.

Newly furbished hotel, the room is super cozy and nice. The bathroom is bigger than is typical in Japan with a great shower. The bed and pillow are super comfy. You have all sorts of amenities and toiletries for free. A 7/11 is right next door and a bus stop in front so location wise it is perfect.

They have a smoking room near the elevators so the smell spreads a bit. They offer free drinks in the dining room but the machine with drinks does not work very often and it is open only from 17-22.

Location is excellent, close to the bus stop and a konbini, a walkable distance to the city centre. Beautiful surrounding area filled with rivers, and local shrines. Room is very clean! The onsen is clean and very pleasant during cold months (very hot though!!!). Breakfast was good! Lots of variety and good options to make for a nutritionally complete meal. Do not drink the instant coffee it's really bad!!!

The room is lacking a lot of floor space! If you're travelling with another person, you can't both have your luggage out at once. The cords in the room don't work! And the smoking room in the lobby definitely leaks smoke which travels into the elevator and lobby, definitely offputting.

Well what can you say about hotel that supplies free drinks from 5pm to 8pm . It was a bonus. Four different beers, wine, Whisky and Sake. The hotel was reasonably close to a lot of touristy stuff and close to public transport . Kyoto is a very large city so its hard to get the perfect location for a hotel. But if you have legs then its pretty easy to get around. Rooms were average Japanese size and they had a public bath. Overall a great stay, friendly staff and great restaurant's near by. A bit of a walk from the station but my wife and I are in our 60s and we managed the 1.8km walk carrying our back packs , there are buses as well that stop near the hotel.

The hotel was great but the number tourists in Kyoto was crazy (and I'm including myself as one of those tourists)

This is a nice modern hotel with friendly staff… a short 1000 yen taxi ride away from Kyoto Station which was very handy when travelling with luggage or needing to get two and from the station quickly. Also walkable to Gion and Pontocho areas. Our room was small but comfortable. They provided us with lovely yukatas to wear which you could choose in the lobby. Breakfast was served until 9:30… the friendly staff made us ham and cheese toasties with an egg every morning.

Could have done with a couple more hooks in the room to hang coats and yukatas on. Additional hooks could have been fitted on the bathroom door or small passage by the room entry door.
