The room was beautiful and very spacious. We stayed in the Annex building in the twin room with Tatami area. This was by far the largest room we stayed in on our month long trip and the prettiest. The entrance had a sliding wooden screen and really nice lamp. This gave a nice pause and sound buffer to the actual entrance and felt very Japanese. The bathroom was amazing. It had a beautiful rock garden, large shower and wooden bathtub. It was a really big bathroom. Big but nowhere to put toiletries, except on the counter. We were a family of 3. They provided an extra bed/futon that slept our son. Although there was plenty of room for all of us in the beds. There was a small closet with a safe in it. (It would be great if there were some drawers to store clothing). Location was really close to the metro with one stop to the kyoto station. in the evening there was happy hour with wine, sake and small bites. The hotel also offered a couple free classes: we did the origami making class with Toshi. He was great and made the class fun and interesting. The staff helped out a lot with reservations to restaurants and suggestions for our large group of 7. Kyoto is busy so highly recommend reso's.

As mentioned we were on the 5th floor and our room (505) was near the elevator and employee services. At times we would open and walk out our door to see laundry, vacuums, carts and the facilities for cleaning.

The room was absolutely stunning and larger than most apartments. Very high quality toiletries and skincare, and beautiful hinoki bath. Breakfast was excellent with so many options. Hotel was conveniently located next to Kyoto station and walkable to Gion and restaurants.

We love everything about it ! We were welcomed with a relaxing scent and serenity at the entrance. The staff were good with their communication and provided us with prompt assistance. We had a single room with a wooden bathtub along with a scenic view of the town. The bed was so comfortable and you get to soak yourself in the wooden bathtub that is sourced locally in Japan along with their facial amenities ( chef kiss) ! From the Hotel to the nearby gojo station takes only a 5 mins !! It ll take 20 sec if you sprint >v<! We had a fantastic experience and will come back again !

Staff were realy nice - spoke good english and helped us out with charging ports that we didn’t have. Hotel is beautiful ( could maybe do with a touch up outside) but inside is amazing. Great location and can walk to most attractions ( 36 degrees is very hot so also taxis and train services right next door to hotel)

We liked everything but i would suggest ensuring you do not stay in the rooms that end with 1 as they are not facing onto main street and felt a bit like you were in the worst room in hotel

We loved our stay at the Kanra hotel. Breakfast was great, they have both western and japanese buffet menu. Kids enjoyed the stay a lot. easy access to Shijo dori and NIshiki market. Lots of temples nearby. Just walk a little and you can see authentic japanese style living away from the facade of touristy show cases that you see with most hotel locations. Extremely good facilities and very good staff willing to make your stay very pleasant and comfortable.

We made the mistake of walking from Kyoto Station to Hotel Kanra, dont do that, it might look like a 1 klm walk, but when you do that will luggage may not be very pleasant. Take the taxi from kyoto station of take the Gojo subway.

It was exactly what we were looking for with our hotel in Kyoto. The decor was exactly what we thought of for staying in a Japanese style hotel.

Our room faced a major road which meant you could hear the cars driving by. I also didn’t like that when asking for a late check out they said it is only available for a fee of ¥3000 for the hour. I didn’t mind paying it, but either the room is available or not for late checkout. Trying to get $20 USD after spending close to $500 a night feels a little odd.

amazing property with old Kyoto style charm. staff spoke English so communication was not an issue. convenient location. we loved it here.

it’s on the pricier side but the hotel is in another level so worth it!

The aesthetics of the space was beautiful - a perfect mix of modern and traditional Japanese style. The beds were comfortable and the room was spacious. Hotel was located within walking distance to two train lines which was convenient. We must commend the staff on their outstanding service, providing a room upgrade and local recommendations.

Be prepared to walk 8 minutes from the main Kyoto Train Station or 2 minutes to the local train stop (which is one stop away from the main line) On that note, it's a beautiful walk past the neighbouring Temple!

Amazing room (we had a. Free upgrade to a deluxe room). Great design and confort, the wooden bath is amazing. 24h lounge for guests with coffee/beer/wine/sake is something I have never seen even in fancier hotels. Location is quite convenient, you are not right in the centre, but 10-15min from the station and you can still walk to the centre in 20-30min or take a bus/metro, metro station 5 min away.

Staff were incredibly helpful and welcoming, they spoke excellent English. Room was clean and spacious, very zen! The wood bath - WOW! Overall, a lovely place for us to relax during our honeymoon. Location wise, it was super convenient as it was basically a 1 minute walk to the train station, which took us to Nishiki Market within 10 minutes.

Breakfast buffet was a little expensive, although it was very delicious and had a good spread!
