Great location, only 3 train stop to downtown to have Ichiran Ramen. Paid carpark is few steps away behind the building. Host is a Korean and patiently speak English to help us. 4 Queen bed in a room, so it's very spacious and big room with microwave, kitchen sink and dining table. Great for 8 to 10people. Happy that it has a lift to level 5 single unit.

Being charge city tax 200Yen per person. This is not being told in advance and it comes as a surprise to me. Went many places but none request for city tax. Toilet a bit small and cold floor. Cold toilet seat without bidet.

Sarangbang provides amenities like tooth brush, shampoo, conditioner and body soap, daily change of fresh towels, tea and clearing of trash. We enjoyed the privacy of one room per level. It is literally just 1-2 minutes walk from the Saiin train station and there are many restaurants, convenience stores and a mall nearby. It’s also just 2 stops from the main Kyoto shopping district. Not to forget the super friendly and helpful Mr Chung Sidong. Thank you for making our stay so memorable.

Excellent host. Very kind, helpful and present. Very clean. Lots of space for a family. Perfect location for train to Arashiyama Forest - one of my favourite days in Kyoto with the Monkey Forest, river boat, Tenryu Temple gardens, Arashiyama town with all the Kimono hire shops, sweet stores, souvenir stores, tea ceremonies, etc.

Like many places we stayed in Japan - our 5 year old didn’t warrant a bed. So she shared a small double with our 10 year old and the host very kindly got us an extra blanket. I thought 2 doubles and 2 singles would be enough, but the double bed was far too small for my husband and I to share.

The room was big. There is an elevator. It is clean and has all the amenities. The bed was comfy. It is very well located, in a calm area, close to the city center and any places of interest. The subway station was close. However you need to know that you’ll pay a city tax for every night once you arrive at the hotel, it was not clearly stated when I booked it. Otherwise the host was nice.

My stay at Sarangbang Kyoto was fantastic. The location is incredibly convenient, close to train and bus stations, restaurants, and a small department store. The room was surprisingly spacious for our group of six, with comfortable and clean beds. The bathroom was immaculate. Opting for the tatami room was a great choice for organizing luggage. The owner's friendliness and helpfulness stood out. The flexibility to keep our luggage after checkout was much appreciated. In summary, Sarangbang Kyoto offers a delightful experience with its convenient location, spacious and comfortable rooms, and a friendly, accommodating owner. Highly recommended for a memorable stay in Kyoto.

The room's internet was unreliable, but luckily, our mobile wifi helped. If the house entrance code had been given earlier, we wouldn't have been confused and stuck outside briefly at night.

The hospitality was beyond anything we could have imagined. One of our family members was feeling unwell and needed to sleep it off. However, Ikeda-san personally offered to help her grab any necessities she needed from the convenience store. She quickly made a speedy recovery thanks to his reassurance. Thank you again, Ikeda-san!! Apart from the warm reception, the location was also very convenient. It's a 2min walk from the train and tram stations, which gives us easy and direct access to Arashiyama, Nishiki Market, Gion District and even all the way to Osaka. The room and beds were very comfortable. The elevator brought us directly to our room, which also took up the entire floor. There was a small kitchenette with plenty of coffee and tea for early mornings. All toiletry amenities were provided, with towels being changed out daily.

With such a central location, the noise levels could be a bit loud even at night. It wasn't too uncommon to hear a few speeding cars even close to midnight.

Our Japanese style family room was large enough to accommodate a group of 6 people. Room was clean and beds comfortable enough. We had a large table with regular sized chairs. Supermarket was 5 minute walk where we could pick up meals to microwave. Kitchen (microwave and electric kettle) was very small but the owner supplemented the dishes as needed. Owner was very accommodating. Elevator took us up to the 5th floor.

Bathroom was cold mostly at night. We visited in mid-March. Reception area had the smell of cigarette smoke. We were given a code for the front door as well as our room. Owner was not usually around unless you told him the time for check-in. Building was quite far from the train station and we needed to travel by bus.

We enjoyed the dinner at their 2nd level restaurant, the food was excellent and delicious! The waitress was very friendly, even though we couldn't speak Japanese language, they used an Translation App to communicate with us. Clean and big room for the three of us, they changed clean towels daily, very friendly staff. Liked the location, close walk to Restaurants Sushiro/Daiso and Train Station.

The host is friendly, helpful and always replies quickly to my inquries. He provided everything we needed during our stay. The place is tidy and clean when we get home after a long day tour in Kyoto. The location is also superb! Lots of restaurants, convenient stores, metro- and bus stations nearby. Overall, we had a comfortable stay at Sarangbang and we highly recommend this place!

Noise from vehicles outside :(

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED if you speak Korean, owner is amazingly delightful and became super friendly the moment the language barrier was removed! Please forgive his limited English otherwise! The room was comfy and each bed had its own plugin. Each floor is for 1 room, and there's a balcony for when you just want to have those quiet moments staring at nothing. Situated near the hankyu-kyoto subway line, which is a few stops from the Karasuma Line that can get you up and down Kyoto, and also can get you straight into the downtown section of Kyoto! Area around has some bars and restaurants so don't have to go far after a day of travels for some nighttime fun!

Elevator was small and the pillow wasn't the best? I kind of don't have much to complain about?
