Our plane was delayed and we arrived in Tokyo after trains and buses to Nagano had all stopped running, so we missed the first night of our stay. We contacted the hotel through Booking.com, and they were extremely responsive and empathetic to our situation, helping us work out a solution quickly and without fuss. So despite our trip starting off on a rocky note, the staff here did a great job of helping us sort things out. And they continued to be wonderful throughout our stay. The location directly across from Nagano station was very convenient, as we took trains and buses that all left from the station throughout our stay. This also seems to be the quieter and less busy side of the station, which we really appreciated. The hotel and rooms were clean, there were very good amenities, and the hot water and water pressure in the showers were fantastic. We also had the paid buffet breakfast every morning, and were very pleased with the variety and quality of food. The rooms ran a little hot at night (much better than being too cold), but that was easily remedied by cracking the window before going to bed. The double bed room was average size for Japanese hotels, but may feel a bit cramped for Western travelers not used to this size of room. Our friends who we were traveling with stayed in the twin room with two beds, and that was noticeably larger, so for those wanting a little more room (even if only traveling as a couple), that might be a better option. One last thing to note is that we paid for our friends to have breakfast with us one morning, but didn't realize that they went to the front desk and paid for themselves there. So basically we double paid, and none of us realized. The hotel DID realize though, and they made sure that our breakfasts the next morning were covered. Great service, and great attention to detail!

Honestly everything was great about our stay.

Fantastic location. 2 minutes to the Nagano Shinkansen Train Station. Rooms were clean, quiet. Service was good. Staff very polite, friendly and helpful. The rooms did not have microwaves but there were a few scattered around the hotel that could be used to heat up your food. We found this satisfactory and avoided food smells in the rooms. Similarly there were ironing stations and drink machines at various locations in the hotel. Good fridge in the room. WiFi was good. We used a luggage service to deliver our luggage from Tokyo. The hotel received and stored this for us for a day or so before we arrived. Good service. Highly recommend these luggage service companies, Yamato Transport (Kuroneko) and Sagawa Express. Make travel with large suitcasses very easy. They do intercity, accross town, to and from railway stations and airports. There are shops in the railway station (2 minutes) for anything you may need during your stay. Nippon Car hire is 100m up the road and there is a Lawson right next door. We would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to out friends.

The hotel is good. The rooms are not up to date flash. Heating controls are adequate but not all that modern. But the rooms are more than adequate and good value. Horrible pillows but all Japanese pillows are horrible. We did not ask for better ones and the hotel may have been able to supply better pillows. Not really a complaint just an observations., Japanese pillows are not like Australian pillows. They are much smaller and generally hard. Again this is not a complain, just info for would be travellers. The TV is all Japanese. There is no option to use Netflix or Youtube as there is in some hotels.

The rooms were larger than others we had stayed in during our trip. Though slightly dated decor, they had everything you needed. All rooms had plenty of amenities offered at reception and you could help yourself to the vast range, meaning there was little waste. Right across from the station and a very quiet location. The staff also went above and beyond when I left my whole travel document folder behind and sent it to my next hotel.

Our room was very warm compared to our two kids rooms, to the point we slept with only a sheet in -6oC weather. Dining options were on the other side of the train station so a little walk, though it's manageable and some fantastic places to choose from.

Great breakfast wiht several options, they had a mix of Japanese and Western style to chose from. They had tea and coffee available in lobby at all times, which was great on cold days. The location is very accessibly from the JR station and there are restaurants nearby, as well as a 7-11. The staff was exceptional. Though you didn't control the room temperature on your own, it was warm and cozy.

The bed was very hard and only there was no option for extra pillows. The shower and toilet were in the same room, but when you showered the curtain kept blowing in on you.

Location was amazing - for a short stay its right by the train station with a convenience store nearby. Easy to access the train as well as go around the city. The room was simple, and large enough for out luggage and to comfortable lounge around. Check-in was fast and efficient, and the hotel offers complimentary hair, skin care, etc. at the lobby that you can bring up and use in your room.

Maybe it was the season (accommodations seemed more expensive this trip) but for what you get the price was higher than expected. Dated look for rooms and corridors. Not a lot of amenties in the building

We especially liked being able to have our baggage stored before check-in, the air filter with humidifier in the room, the temperature of the room (not too warm despite the residual snow outside), the comfortable bed, the night shirts provided with the room, the nice hot shower in the ensuite bathroom, and the breakfast.

We booked on the morning we stayed, so we had to choose a room usually used by smokers, which was our choice, and although the air filter in the room made the room air OK, the air in the corridor on that floor did smell slightly of smoke. But that was not enough to make us decide to never stay here again.

The staff were very helpful and friendly. One of them went the extra mile and helped us carry our big and heavy suitcases to our room. We also had an unfortunate situation and needed a last-minute night stay. The hotel actually upgraded our room. It was such an unexpected and generous gesture. This hotel touched me with their warmth and kindness. The location is also fantastic. Just a few minutes walk to Nagano station. If you are taking the Willer Express bus, the bus stop is just opposite the hotel.

The hotel is in a fantastic location within a couple of minutes walk from the train station. While a bit dated, it was clean and comfortable and the staff were very friendly and helpful. They made up the room in a clean and tidy manner each day. I had a lovely view of the mountains from my room. I also really appreciated the humidifier/air purifier in the room during a very drying winter.

A few more instructions in English, particularly regarding the window opening, would be helpful (eg. caution when opening window) but this is relatively minor.

The hotel is next to the train/bus station with a nice view, but still quiet. You can easily walk to the center as well as to Zenkoji Temple. There's all you need and staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful. There are lots of restaurants nearby. You can leave your luggage before/after check in/out.

The location is great, although you might not like if you want to avoid sounds from the train station (no sounds of this kind during the night, they start at about 6 or 6.30 in the morning, which is great because you have to get up and start exploring early enough). The employees are very professional. I had great views from my room, all those beautiful mountain peaks... Very nice. And the city is fabulous, its temples magical
