We really enjoyed our stay. The size of the room was good. The beds were very comfortable. The location was great, few minute walk to the nearest chair lift. The view was beautiful. The hotel shuttle was very convenient to get to the bus terminal on our departure. The driver was so kind to help carry our bags to the line. We also really liked to buffet breakfast. All the staff were lovely and helpful. Also the Onsen was really nice. Some people have said the property is dated but I thought it was quite charming.

Almost everything S its my 8th stay rhere

3 things. 1. Last trip pre covid the restaurant was fantastic. Many varieties, Japan & Western food. Always full but now the a la carte menu is a disgrace. Worst I have ever seen. And Buffet is very so so. So it was deserted! They need to fix it ir I won't be back. Normally we eat in that rest half the time. Honestly: it's a shocker. Change back to pre covid menu URGENT or they will lose customers. Sad - rest was almost empty every night. 2. They don't even supply ice any more that we can get for a drink in room 3. They CANCEL their shuttle service eg to snow or township. The was such a good service b4.

Pros: Amazing onsen/ sauna facility, great breakfast, and great location for skiing. Also one of the BEST bed mattresses I've slept on. Location: My partner went to Hakuba in early March 2023, this time we didn't drive but we took public transportation. We were a little worried at first however it wasn't an issue as the hotel provides shuttle pick up & drop off to the bus terminal on arrival and departure. Heading to Happo-one is only a short 8-minute walk or you can get the free shuttle at "Car Park 3" which is only 2 minute walk from the hotel. Ski/SB rental is only 5 minute walk, you can return all the gear at the hotel without returning to the rental shop. Bus Terminal to Nagano & other resorts is 8 minute's walk. Restaurants there are some good ones nearby if not, a nice walk to echoland is not far. Check-in Time & Security We arrived at 11 am to realize the hotel was not staffed & check-in starts at 3 pm in the afternoon. Lucky for us, we left our hotels at the reception with no issue and came back after skiing to check in. Breakfast Breakfast starts at 7am, there is a good variety of western + Japanese food options. Very satisfied. Why we loved this hotel mainly because they have the comfiest bed mattress and also an amazing sauna/ onsen facility! We would definitely come again!!!

Cons: Limited check-in time but it wasn't an issue, awfully slow wifi... you will need to use your own data. I hope they update their Wifi for our next stay.

Fantastic location just minutes walk to Happo Village and along the snow shuttle stops. Our spacious family room had a magnificent panoramic view of the Happo-One slopes, the futon beds were firm and comfortably arranged. The onsite onsen is always the highlight after a day on the slopes. The combination of outdoor and indoor onsen was a great addition. The breakfast buffet was exceptional, catering to both Asian and western tastes. The staff were extremely professional and friendly in their assistance during our stay. From dinner reservations for a big group (10pax), resort shuttle routing, or luggage forwarding, they made our stay very comfortable.

The queue for the laundry/dryer queue can be quite long with multiple families trying to organise washings. Also given the bulkiness of snow clothing, the washer and dryer are rather small. Thus having to split across multiple machines or longer cycle duration. The drying room for the snow gear can also be quite cramped and and disorganised. Needs better shielding/racking setup, as guests laying their ski boots all over the floor has created multiple tripping hazards.

View was gorgeous. Staff were lovely. Breakfast was great. Onsen was perfect after a day on the slopes. Would recommend this hotel. The only thing that was disappointing was that the hotel shuttle. It no longer does what previous guests had noted, regarding being flexible and even taking you to restaurants, etc. We could not get the shuttle, or taxis, to restaurants any night. With kids, this can be hard if you have to walk in snow/rain. Would definitely stay again, but if they could hire someone to have their shuttle usable even for a few hours over dinner times to town n back, it would be the perfect place to stay. Please note that the hotel shuttle is also limited regarding pickup times from the station,, and needs 24-hour notice to do so.

I had a great experience staying at Hotel Goryukan. First off, the staff are extremely friendly and want to ensure you are comfortable during your stay. The hotel is very clean and well maintained. It is also an easy place to stay - good location within walking distance to the lift at Happo One, as well as bars and restaurants. It's also near many shuttle stops which makes it easy to get to other mountains and different parts of town. There are storage lockers in the basement, a warming room to help dry wet clothes, and washer/dryers for laundry. The onsen is the perfect amenity to have after a long day on the mountain. Overall, I found this hotel to be a very relaxing place to stay.

The staff were always very courteous and friendly. They went out of their way to be accommodating. The hotel management had done an excellent job maintaining the property and providing the guests with a wonderful stay. Their restaurant was excellent they served a wide variety of items which were delicious and prepared on the spot. They had a nice bar and lounge area which was relaxing. Their access to Happo-one was just down the street making for a short walk to the slopes. Easy to get to the shops and other restaurants as well. The rooms were traditional, simple but very comfortable. We were well rested.

This beautiful, Japanese-owned luxury hotel features an amazing natural alkaline onsen. The super-friendly staff ensure a warm welcome. The hotel provides everything you need, including an excellent breakfast. Conveniently located, it's just a 2-minute walk to the free shuttle bus stop or Happo Carpark 3, with ski gear rental right outside. Local restaurants are 3-minutes away, and the Happo bus terminal is 8 minutes' walk. We enjoyed our stay very much! Thank you so very much! Arigato gozaimas! 😊

Great location, easy access to slopes and ski buses. Daily breakfast was great, with a beautiful view from the restaurant. Having the restaurant open for dinner was an excellent backup after long days on the slopes or when we hadn't managed to get a dinner reservation in town. The courtesy bus was great for pick up and drop off to the bus station. The staff were always super helpful and went above and beyond to help us plan our train trip to Osaka at the end of our stay.

Some hooks on the walls in the rooms would have been handy for hanging up jackets - sometimes the drying room got extremely full and it was hard to fit your ski clothes in there to dry.

We loved this hotel. It was in very close proximity to the ski lifts and had a great basement locker area to store your gear. It also had an indoor and outdoor onsen which was well facilitated. The lounge/ bar area was comfortable and you could get a light dinner here or use the restaurant. Breakfast was really good with a wide choice. We had a traditional tatami room for our family which was spacious and comfortable, with large windows and amazing views. All the staff were super accommodating. Overall a great place to stay!
