The Hotel met our expectations. We had read some reviews, and were a little nervous. But it was really good. The room was spacious (Japanese spacious). The water was hot. The resort bus schedule was fantastic. Once you worked out how to use the ski resort buses it became a great spot to stay. Lawsons convent store is less than a 10min walk down the hill.

Explanations around how the ski resort buses work. There was a schedule, and for first time visitors it would have been nice to been provided a bit more info. But the information was there.

The buffet breakfast was excellent, it varied a little each day but was consistently good. The buffet dinner was good value as a fall back plan for when we were too tired to find a restaurant to go out to for dinner. Location was good with shuttle busses to take us to the various resorts. It was a relatively short walk to the village (about 20 minutes). The common room was great with pool tables, table tennis table, and retro game console. We hung out there a lot, especially at happy hour when the drinks were half price. A nice wind down for the day. Oh they have an onsite onsen that was also pretty good, not the most luxurious one we've used but you can't beat the convenience of being on site. We used the onsen at the end of each day on the slopes followed by happy hour drinks in the common room. Awesome.

The bedroom was very large and my teenage son and I had separate queen beds, which was great. There was also plenty of space for all our snow gear. The breakfast was great and we enjoyed using the public onsen every night and we usually had it to ourselves. We also liked the bar (particularly happy hour) and games room area, which the teenagers enjoyed a lot. We also asked the staff to put the heater on in the drying rooms in the mornings, which they did so we were have happy about that. The staff were also very friendly and very helpful. Overall it was great value for money too.

The hotel is very old and dusty. The kerosene heaters did not smell very nice and lots of the shared spaces in the hotel were very cold (there was literally snow on the walkway between the enclosed hotel and the breakfast venue). The owners are obviously slowly renovating the place and no doubt it will improve over time. When we booked the hotel, the score on booking.com was only passable and it's already improved since then. Some of the staff spoke no or little English, which was sometimes challenging but we always managed using google translate.

Good free shuttle access to Goryu, Happo and Iwatake. Free shuttle to Echoland (one-way, take taxi back) and the supermarket (40min window) in the evenings. From Happo, there's a free shuttle to Tsugaike. The drying room is big and works well, even has a room just for ski boots. Buffet breakfast is great, fresh food came in quick even with the weekend crowd. I liked the onsen and is similar in feel to the old onsens at Nozawa Onsen and can match that level of heat. Use of washing machine and dryer is free. The manager and staff are very friendly, helpful and can speak english, also picked us up from the station and assisted us to get taxis (about 1800 yen to Hakuba Station, but I recommend the HV2 shuttle bus (800 yen) to get around instead of taking taxis, take the free shuttle to one of the resorts first and then ride from there.). I think they've made improvements on the past negative feedback like the buffet and vending machines, which is great.

Old style toilet (no bidet). Heating is centralized, and it would be great to have instructions on how to use the heater in the room or a note that it may take a while to heat the room. (The warm air has to heat the entire duct work to your room before it can reach your room with heat)

Previous reviews of this accomodation had me worried but a fellow Australian gave this place a good review so I booked it although I didn’t know what to expect but it was great! The current reviews do not reflect this place and I hope this review is helpful for anyone else looking at booking this or is unsure - clean and comfortable - short walk to town with restaurants (if you can ski all day you can walk 15-20 mins to town) - buses to ski resorts directly outside the hotel - bus timetables available in hotel reception - clean onsen - games rooms - lift - drying room - staff were so friendly and helpful - close to bus station (to walk or less than $10AUD taxi) - nice breakfast - hotel bus to bus station - safe and secure

No complaints, would definitely stay here again

Great shuttle buses available to the ski resorts, bus station & supermarket. Only a 15min walk into Wadano or Happo One. Friendly staff & rooms were clean, comfortable & warm. The onsen was awesome & the perfect way to finish your day! Drying room for your gear is great & laundry is definitely useful. Also loved the games room where you could play pool, table tennis & heat up a meal from the supermarket in the microwave available in the bar.

Whilst the restaurant food is great, they could do with a bain-marie to help keep the food warm.

The room has more space than I was expected. It’s good for skiing trip as there are shuttle buses (free) connect with ski resort. A dry room is available for those need to dry their gear in very short periods as well.

Facility is relatively old, but for the price we paid for, I think these can be accepted.

Not far out of town but taxis are hard to get so getting home of a night was slightly difficult at times. Otherwise great stay with awesome ammenities and fantastic staff.

Public onsen and shuttle service a great inclusion. Buffet breakfast hits the spot. Comfortable beds. Very helpful front desk . . . & we all love Motoshi.

In-house bar is underwhelming.
