Very good location. Staff very friendly and have very usefull information and insight to share with travellers. Good value for money. A lot of restaurant around.

Bathroom in dormitory provides very little privacy and is very small. For someone sensitive in that matter it might be a problem. Also the hostel is quite old, it may need some renovation.

Oliver is the nicest guy ever, the place was amazing with amazing location, amazing staff and welcoming rooms.

Awesome owners-managers, totally responsive to my needs and always happy to help; and fully attuned to travelers' needs it seems. Basic and small rooms but clean and cosy, just what I needed; good value for money. Also appreciated the complimentary use of laundry.8

We came at the beggining of July 2022 for 3 nights at Woodpecker Lodge. We were warmly welcome, the room was very clean, confortable, at first we didnt want the air conditionner but we changed our mind the 2nd night and for 10 RM per night we did add it and it was perfect. They can help you organize your trips. The first day at the evening we asked about snorkelling, if they knew people who can bring us the next day, and in like 3 hours it was organized for the next day morning. We met Carl who organised everything, he brought us at Pulau Satang Besar island, at around 1 hour of drive and 1 hour of boat. We arrived in an very wild island with a wonderful landscape, it was very peaceful. We snorkelled and walked throught the beach. We saw many fishes and swam in a warm water, very nice. Then we went back to the boat terminal in the fishing village to eat in a delicious local fish restaurant (included in the price of the trip). For desert, Carl brought us to a wonderful coconut shake store which were truely delicious, the gula apong coconut shake and the mange shake came straight from heaven. It was an excellent experience, we did not expect such a nice day for something that was planned only the day before. Carl is a very good company with good stories and he carried us through this day with high profesionnalism and friendly attitude.

It is a great, humble, local hotel. Hosts were very welcoming, easy to reach and responded quickly. Rooms were clean, bed confortables, location is quiet and very close to the waterfront while being protected from its frenzy. Great local restaurants downstairs. I recommend 100%

If you want a fancy honeymoon hotel, don't come here. But in any other case, it'd be a shame to miss on this humble stay, where you will get in the local atmosphere

For a “shoe string” traveler’s lodging, it was perfect! The bed was so comfy, the sheets so crisp. My own en suite bathroom, after hostel style accommodations, was a luxury. Very clean. Good communication on What’s App. I paid a few US$ for air conditioning, but the new Panasonic powerful fan might have been enough. Location great! There was a 24 hour busy restaurant on the block so it felt safe, and good food. Other restaurants on the block were also good. The waterfront walk was just steps away.

The guesthouse was really nice and clean, and comes with 3 very cute and cuddly cats. We were provided with everything including clean towels, soap, and toilet papers. The persons who run the guesthouse (Oliver et al) are not only super warm and friendly, but they also possess a good knowledge of Sarawak and share some really helpful travel tips. I would highly recommend this place to everyone and would myself stay there again if I ever come back to Kuching. Initially planned to spend only a night there but ended up adding 2 more nights as I didn't want to stay anywhere else.

There were some mix ups with my booking for the second night as the place was quickly overbooked, but the staff handled it really well by providing me the options of either staying at a different hotel (which I did not have to pay a single cent for) or the dorm room. I chose the dorm room as I did not want to stay anywhere else. The only comment I had was that the dorm room smelled a little but it was mainly because of the guests staying there and that the bathroom sliding door could be fixed a little. Other than that, the private rooms are great.

The common area is too small and couch is destroyed by cats which make noone want to sit there so everyone stays in the rooms
