Nice resort! You will get to experience every aspect of the holiday in the Maldives, at a reasonable rate, such as a journey by the sea-plane, being greeted by the resort personnel with drums, staying at a secluded heaven-like resort with wonderful clean beaches and tropical vegetation, incredible coral reef all around with beautiful fishes, staying in the water villa. if you have never been to the Maldives, choose this resort. You will not regret it for a second. Special thanks to Veligandu for special treatment on the day of our anniversary: excellent design in the room with the flowers and swan sculptures on the bed, the bottle of sparkling drink in the ice bucket, specially decorated table at dinner. The reef is one of the best in the Maldives, no matter in which direction you will swim, you will see thousands of colourful fish. But an especially nice reef starts opposite the main restaurant. I swam around the whole island except the "airport" area. It was nice everywhere. CHOOSE SEA VILLA no matter how much more expensive it is. it is much better and the experience is from another world. We stayed at both (beach and sea villas), we can tell.

There were quite a few mosquitos when we stayed in the beach villa. Don't forget to bring some repellant. No mosquitos in the sea villas. The resort tries to spray the mosquitos, but they are there anyway and will get you if not protected. Also, we stayed in May and maybe it was season related.

We arrived to Veligandu from local island Thoddoo and as nice as it was to see the real Maldives and meet local people it was even nicer to come to Veligandu where everything is just perfect. We were greeted by our island host Adelaida who took care of everything that we needed. We were escorted to our sunset jacuzzi water villa, which was a lot better than on the pictures posted on booking.com. The reef around the island is full of life, we saw a stingray, turtle and a reef shark. We always had problems choosing what to eat as there was a huge variety of dishes which were always super delicious (especially at the asian noodle corner). The food was definitely 10/10. The staff in the restaurant is also great, they really take care of you. Everything was perfect, our biggest problem on this island was - Caipiroska or Cuba libre 😁?

Perfect destination. We celebrated our honeymoon in june. The weather was perfect, we had mainly sunny days and a bit of rain a couple evenings which was actually welcome. We had the full board package, which was perfect. If you want any cocktails you just pay extra for them, they are reasonably priced. All inclusive is only worth it if you will hit alcohol really hard, which there's no need for since the island is just perfect. The place is superb, pure relaxation. Food is excellent, huge variety, best quality and loads of it. *Buffet restaurant:* Breakfast served pancakes, waffles, any kinds of eggs, tons of fruit and many sausages, beans, bacon, cold meats, smoked salmon, juices...everything you could ever ask for. Lunch and dinner...they have 3 areas where they cook on the spot for you. One of the options of always grilled fish. Astonishing. Another one was always some asian noodles/rice with vegetables and seafood...(we had the best pad thai of our lifes there), and meat specialties (ribs, roasted veal, wellington sirloin...). They also have the buffet section full of amazing options (at least 12 different main dishes), 4-5 different types of salads, different breads and appetizers, tons of fruit, tons of small cakes and dessert bites, ice cream....Seriously the buffet restaurant was beyond any expectations. Just wow! Other restaurants (a la carte or beach bar) we didnt try. No need!!!!! We were staying on a villa on top of water and it was definitely worth it. We could spot sharks or stingrays from there and go see them as they passed nearby. Snorkelling is the star activity, you can see so many things. We didnt get bored of just snorkelling for the whole week we stayed. Swimming with reef sharks is always thrilling, and you never manage to see everything you want to see in just a couple days. We also had the jacuzzi on our room, but used it only once, since we focused the most on snorkelling and eating. Super nice.

We landed to Male at 6am and had to wait a few hours to get our transport to the island. It was reasonable since they cant just fly a plane just for you. We got cold in the flight to Male and that ended up affecting our holiday. Remember your trip starts with the flights, and it can get tricky sometimes, especially with long distances!! We had a hard time trying to understand how to use the AC, but we didnt bother to even ask, somehow we managed to have a perfect temperature at the room all the time. Veligandu itself had nothing we didnt like. Everything was far beyond our expectations. It was just perfect. I cant think of anything that could have made it any better.

Veligandu has exceeded our expectations! We were taken care of from the moment we arrived at the airport. The island is so beautiful that we couldn't stop taking photos. We stayed at a Sunset Jacuzzi Water Villa which was huge, well-equipped, comfortable and had spectacular views of the ocean and the sunset. Even though we were on full board, not AI, we still received complimentary bottled water every day and had a Nespresso machine with different kinds of capsules. We also received a bottle of champagne and a cake for our wedding anniversary! What a lovely gesture! The food was so delicious and had such a huge variety that we ended up overeating at each meal. There were new dishes every day for lunch and dinner, and the desserts were spectacular! The White Glow Party and the Jazz night were superb, too! We spent hours snorkeling near the beach. The marine life is stunning, my husband even saw reef sharks. The staff in the entire resort was always kind, polite and attentive. We could occupy our room 3 hours before the official check-in time and, since our flight left late at night on the day of departure, we were allowed to stay until 4.30 pm, have lunch and a shower before leaving. I could go on for hours talking about our wonderful experience at Veligandu. If we ever go back to the Maldives, we'll definitely choose them again!

It would be better if Veligandu were "adults only" again as it used to be. Some kids were noisy at the beach, and a couple of boys laughed at my wife and made fun of her while she was trying to meditate on the sand.

Veligandu is an extraordinary resort for people looking for a totally peaceful holiday without people shouting, kids screaming around and loud music. It’s truly heaven if you’re looking for silence and complete relaxation. However if you’re someone looking for some partying and/or want to take small kids with you, this is not the most appropriate resort (fortunately). The best thing about Veligandu is the food. Every single meal is a 10/10, high quality ingredients and carefully prepared meals. It makes Veligandu on par with many fine dining and even Michelin guide restaurants across the world, even beating some of them. After renovations, the facilities and infrastructure turned out incredible, our ocean villa was out of this world, we couldn’t believe it when we walked in. Truly spectacular. The staff is super nice, and a special thanks to Nawal which was in charge of our villa and cleaning services. He did a superb job.

2 of the restaurants require booking and are often fully booked if not booked in advance. It’s slightly inconvenient to have to plan meals in advance, specially when there is no system showing you the total occupation of the restaurants. There is definitely a bitter sensation when you want to have dinner in an all inclusive plan and your preferred restaurant is full. Water activities are quite expensive and the activities/experiences included in the all-inclusive plan (beach dinner, floating breakfast and local island visit) could definitely be improved, specially since all of them are dependent on weather and can’t be swapped by any other.

Our stay at Veligandu Island Resort was absolute perfection! The water villa was incredible, blending comfort and elegance with stunning views. Being able to step directly into the turquoise lagoon from our deck was an experience we’ll never forget. The dining experience was exceptional – each meal was a feast of flavors with fresh, high-quality ingredients. From themed buffet nights to the romantic beachside dinner, the variety and presentation were outstanding. Veligandu is a true paradise – serene, luxurious, and unforgettable. We can’t wait to return!

An Unforgettable Solo Birthday in Paradise! I visited Veligandu as a solo traveler for my birthday, and I can honestly say it was one of the best experiences of my life. From the moment I arrived, I never once felt alone. The staff made me feel like I was among friends – they were incredibly kind and treated me with such warmth and care that I felt extra special throughout my stay. It truly felt like I had a second family there. The daily itineraries were packed with exciting activities – I had the chance to go snorkeling, join a dolphin cruise, and more. Every day brought something new, and I loved being able to choose how I spent my time. The dining options were plentiful, and every meal was delicious. A highlight for me was the teppanyaki restaurant – the Teperniak Chef MrZ Francis was amazing! Because it was my birthday, they even put on a whole show for me, making the experience unforgettable. Evenings were just as lively as the days. There was always something happening – one night it was jazz, and another night was 80s disco, which was by far my favorite! The entertainment and atmosphere were perfect. The food was exceptional at all times – from the breakfast selection to lunch, dinner, and even the snacks by the beach. I savored every bite and truly enjoyed every second of my stay. Initially, I booked for three nights thinking I might get bored, but by the end, I wished I had stayed for a week! I also want to give a special shoutout to the diving team. Miss Sarah, Mr. Misbah, and the absolute star, Julia, took care of me from start to finish. Julia, in particular, was incredibly comforting and made sure I felt at ease all day. I wholeheartedly recommend Veligandu – not just for the breathtaking location but for the people who make it truly special. This will not be my last visit! I can’t wait to return with my loved ones to share this magical place with them. Thank you for making my birthday unforgettable!

It was our first visit to Maldives and we were happy with stay in Veligandu resort. Everything in the hotel from check-in to check-out looks like they do their best to make you feel relaxed. Hotel is located on a small island with many palms and other plants, it was nice to walk around. Lizards, crabs, bat foxes and different birds live there. Snorkeling was fantastic. We've seen many fishes, sharks, turtles, stigrays swimming around. One of the best parts of the hotel is that you feel secluded, there are plenty things to do for everyone. We asked for sunset view villa and it was done, thanks for that, sunsets were beatiful! Rooms are spacious and well equiped, private jacuzzi was a big feature after snorkeling. Food in the buffet restaurant was well varied, we enjoyed most griiled catch-of-the-day fish fillet.

It might be noisy in waterfront villas in a stormy night, but it happened only once during our stay.

The hotel definitely deserves the 5* rating. Everything from the very beginning to the end was perfect except for the weather (but no one can influence that). Our villa on the water was very luxurious and comfortable. During the entire stay, Zaha watched over us, she was a wonderful host, the best we have ever had. She took great care to make sure we had everything we needed. The food at the hotel was delicious and varied. A large selection of alcohol was also available.

The island is pretty small and everything can be done by foot. The restaurant and big bar are at the other side of the island from the water villas, which means that you'll spend some of your time walking back and forth. The reef is pretty and has a large number of different fish, turtles, reef sharks and rays. However, it is a bit far from the water villas depending on the current. Also, there are lots of dead corals before you reach the house reef. We particularly liked that it was possible to be in touch via whatsapp with our contact person, this made it pretty easy to ask questions. My partner got hurt on the second day (cut on his foot from a dead coral) and everything worked out quite well with the island doctor. We heard some feedback from other islands that a doctor and medication is usually overpriced in the Maldives but we didn't have this experience. The weather was quite hot during the day and nights as well, apparently we were on the island during one of the hottest months of the year. The AC worked without any issues.

One of the only things could be that some of the staff were clearly friendly because it seemed as if they were expecting tips, and they also adapted their service to the tips that they received. But everyone was very friendly, helpful and forthcoming, regardless of who the customers were. We spent one night at the à la carte restaurant, which was included in the all-inclusive offer but were quite disappointed by the food. The starter was very bland (tuna tartare), the main course was grilled fish (also tasteless) and the vegetable tempura was a bit soggy. Regarding the food at the main restaurant, the buffet always offered a big choice regarding fish, meat and vegetable choices. We fell in love with the desserts and the fresh fruit.
