This was our first time staying at Riu's Family Resort and I must say, They nailed it all the way! We had such a great time and will definitely come back to visit one of the Riu's Hotels that they have around the world just because of the customer service! We were taken care of all the time. They clean your room every single day if you leave your tag hanging on your door knob (they always make the bed so nice and neat :) , its hard to say no to the cleaning crew that is always full of smiles too). The restaurants were fantastic, sooo much FOOD!!!! and DRINKS!!! ALL THE TIME!!! The breakfast was our most favorite, HUGE Buffet style with so much variety from sweet to salty or spicy or somewhere between, tons of fruits, veggies, veggies & fruits juices!!! (My favorite), so many different eggs omelets, and hams and cheeses and spanish meals and mediterranean food and yogurths with cereals etc...wow just overwhelming to pick from such wide variety! We stayed for 5 nights and this didn't get boring for us at all. Dinners at 5 different restaurants, Steak House, Japanese (tons of sushi and noodles). Italien, Mexican, etc....You will never get hungry and during the day you can have lunch at a restaurant or they always have a buffet at the fantastic pool bar - hotdogs, burgers, fries, salsas with chips. Alcoholic drinks, hmmm they were good, but the alcohol level felt dilutted, so I drank whole day in the sun and never got drunk or lightheaded. My husband switched to Blanco Tequilla shots and that was strong. They have lot of variety of mixed drinks and can give you whatever you wish, just Tell them :) Every night there was entertainment activity suitable for every age, some of them need a bit of improvement but overall it was fun. We did 1 day trip in our 5 nights stay, went to Isla Mujeres which was sooo beautiful! The water is so clear and blue, must see.

Nothing, everything was excellent!

The hotel is very cozy! We had a wonderful stay. Tasty food, incredible beverages and good service especially at the bar on the reception!

I made the reservation on Booking.com way in advance and I was very surprised to see that the price on the site and in my confirmation changed ( additional 150 euro were displayed on the total amount). That’s a feedback especially for Booking.com to be taken into consideration!! It seems to be a cronic approach for Booking.com to adjust the prices after the confirmation was sent. I advise to make a print screen when you receive the booking confirmation and keep it in your archive!

That it was very close to the beach which was beautiful this time of year. I liked the property because it wasn’t that big and we could move around very easily!

Everything was great!

This is our second time at this hôtel. On the smaller size but that makes it great to get around. Restaurants have great food with plenty of choices

The équipement in your gym. All your équipement needs to be updated! Everyone we met at the gym complained about the same. This is honestly the only area that needs much improvement. Most of your cardio equipment was out of ordre!

Absolutely everything, room , food , plenty of chairs by pool and beach, even though hotel at 100% capacity. Plenty of shade around pools. The bars are staffed with multiple bartenders. There’s never a long wait to get a drink. Beaches perfectly clean. Even buffet, although some things remain the same as variations every day. There is no reservations required at the restaurants. I walk in right after the open one day I had to wait only for five minutes to get a table table.. and it’s only a half hour walk down the front road to go into town, which I like to do several nights a week. Also, I did check in on a Tuesday but I was the only person in line and I check out on a Sunday and it was no one in line either took one minute in each direction to check in/out

The corn chips to eat, salsa and guacamole, with are a little too crunchy and hard. 🤣 That’s about the worst thing I can come up with !

We were booked here but when we arrived they bumped us to the Palace - we loved our stay there. We visited the Playacar and it looked very nice too. Some of the features we liked for the Palace are across the board for Riu hotels

Music by pool could be a little quieter

I liked that it was not to far from 5th Ave. i especially liked that other Riu hotels in the area was accessible. The staff especially Tony at the front desk was so very helpful.

The bathroom did not have doors. The shower had frosted glass for privacy, but when undressing to get into the shower it was challenging, when there were other people in the room. I had a miss-hap, someone spilled guacamole on the floor at the entrance of the buffet. I slipped and fell hitting my hip and shoulder. Everyone saw, but no employee came to check if I was ok. They just looked at me and walked away. Luckily there was a gentleman who helped my husband get me up to my feet. Also their Asian restaurant was not good at all!

Playacar is a secured location south of Playa Del Carmen (55min from Cancun airport): 25min walking from hotel to Playa Del Carmen animated Quinta Avenida. Easy and safe to park our rental car at the hotel. Beautiful swimming pool and beach area under numerous palm trees. Amazing helpful staff in all departments: rooms, entertainment, restaurants, bars, etc. Entertainment was offered for all ages. Restaurants offered good quality food and variety at all meals. Restaurants never felt crowded, did not have to queue up for any dish, which brought relaxing atmosphere. Large room and bathroom, extra large bed. We extensively used the kids’ swimming pool and activities (Riuland), which was a great hotel’s asset.

Bathroom’s hygiene accessories non existing: no conditioner, no shower cap, low quality shower gel / shampoo: not acceptable for 5 star hotel. Mini bar should be fully refilled everyday

The staff was very nice, and the food was wonderful and a wide range of food. The Asian restaurant was ok . Not the best l have had. The restaurant for lunch near the pool was great and the breakfast was good. I thought all bar staff were great. I would go back. The snack bar at pool was wonderful.

No steam room and etc. They need to upgrade facilities. I have stated at other resorts in Mexico and this location to did not hit the mark. The toilet seats are low for senior citizens. Next time I should get a different bath room.

We liked everything about this resort. Spacious rooms with balcony, insanely huge food and drinks choices, pools, and the beach. Unlike in other resorts, we felt free to move around. Nobody was checking our bracelets or asking our room number. The staff are the best part of this place. Very friendly, helpful, smily, and hardworking. I think we would come back.

Lack of good shade. Only by the pool. And we preferred the sea. We had to buy a soap bar, body lotion, and a good conditioner. I would expect these to be provided.
