This was an incredible place to stay. Wasn't what we were expecting but it exceeded expectations. The staff were absolutely wonderful to talk to and couldn't be more helpful. We appreciated the local information they shared about the area and also info on places we were travelling to next. It was just an exceptional experience, thank you so much.

The only thing we could pick on out of our stay was our rooms shower leaked out from the shower area. It appears the water pressure (which was amazing) is too much for the shower head to handle and it leaks out the side of the shower head and down the wall. Just a little thing, definitely didn't ruin our stay, just needs looking at. And no curtain or blind on the bathroom window (and no frosted glass). I'm a prude so I hung my coat up on the plastic hooks that were already there, my husband wasn't fazed by this but you could definitely see into the bathroom from out on the street if you wanted too.

We often stay here before popping over to Rakiura. The family/group who manage the property and restaurant are lovely, and the facilities are tidy and well maintained. The wifi is never particularly good, and occassionally there are communication challenges. On balance the team is welcoming and enthusiastic and the standard of food and service is very high. We will continue to visit and would definitely recommend this facility to other travellers. LOVE the zero waste sympathies in the teas and soaps etc. Very classy job on that front, we adore Zero Waste efforts and especially when they are so well executed.

The wifi is disappointing.

There wasn't anything we didn't like about this property, the management or the location. A good getaway spot. We lucked out with sunshine and warm weather. In stormy weather, this spot might be quite a different place. The bedroom and bathroom were immaculate and well-appointed. The room had stunning views and we did book the room for the views. We hiked a part of the trail and enjoyed the remoteness of the area. We ate at the Oyster Cove Restaurant next door. It offered a simple menu and the dishes were well-prepared. It does close early so call ahead to reserve.

We had the family suite for 2 . It was a real surprise - spacious , immaculately clean and really well decorated . Andy was delightful at check in and as it was a Tuesday night eating out options were limited so he suggested if we got take away we could sit in the lounge area and use the breakfast tables in front of the fire. Breakfast was also good- simple but well done . It was very comfortable.

The shower was great but water leaked out onto the floor area - needs to be redesigned.

Comfy bed, lots of choice for making a fresh pot of tea or a pod coffee in your room and fresh milk was supplied in the fridge. The view of the sea and surrounds was fantastic from our room and also whilst we ate breakfast. The staff were lovely and were very accommodating.

Our room was on the smaller side but was okay for one night. The bathroom was also very small and the shower didn't drain very well. Other rooms may have been larger. We tried to find a place for dinner in Bluff township but everything appeared to be closed! It's a long way to drive to Invercargill for a meal. There is a restaurant next door to the hotel but it was also closed, being a Monday.

I must commend on the fantastic location of your hotel. The view from my room's window was truly breathtaking, making my stay memorable. I also want to express my appreciation for your friendly and accommodating staff. They were attentive and made my stay enjoyable.

The facilities at the hotel appeared to be somewhat dated, and I noticed that the door handle in the bathroom was broken. Additionally, my room was quite small, and the soundproofing was inadequate. I could hear conversations from the neighboring rooms, which disrupted my peace and quiet.

the hotel is absolutely beautiful. andy such a welcoming friendly host in Andy. The rooms are amazing and the views incredible. great breakfast too.

it would be good to solve the dinner problem with the restaurant next door to make sure dinner is available every night of any guests' stay at your hotel...as there are so few options in town. but we made do and had a great time. maybe you could provide a simple dinner menu to guests if arranged in advance on the nights the restaurant isn't open?

Property was in a great location, with wonderful views from our room. Breakfast was a welcome touch. Glad for the recommendation to book a meal at the restaurant next door (Oyster Cove???). Was very convenient after a long day driving and was a lovely meal.

Shower was a bit dodgy- no water pressure and hard to get temperature right. But this was only a small complaint if I had to find one.

The hotel was beautiful and the owners were lovely, they offered to drive my sister and I to the ferry terminal to Stewart Island as we were completing the Rakiura great walk track, they also drove us to the local takeaway shop for food as the restaurant was closed during our stay. The breakfast was amazing the next morning too, as well as this they upgraded us to a room with a sea view! We had the best stay here and will recommend it to anyone going to Bluff!

Ideal location for your launching to the ferry when traveling to Stewart Island, in a stunningly beautiful setting. Rooms face the ocean providing a view that is not to be forgotten. The rooms are medium sized with very comfortable beds, a small fridge with tea and coffee making capacity. The property is spotlessly clean. The owners are extremely helpful and go out of their way to accommodate your needs. There is a restaurant adjacent to the hotel, but because of staffing shortages (read, “No Chef”) served basic salads, fish dishes and burgers. The new reality worldwide post pandemic. On site off street parking is available. Overall, a solid 9/10 and reasonable value for your money.

The weakness in this property was a functional but at times frustrating wireless internet, that in the end worked adequately. Room walls are somewhat thin so one could hear your neighbors if they were particularly loud.
