We were staying in another Christchurch hotel which was about a 15 minute walk away. The Mayfair is a little off from the CBD but walkable. Because it was my birthday, I believe our room was upgraded and we were quite happy with all aspects of the suite, from all goodies to bathrobes to a motion sensor nightlight on the way to the bathroom.

There was nothing not to like. Location is walkable away from CBD but close to park and Botanical Gardens.

The staff are fabulous and friendly and go out of their way to get to know you and make sure all is well . Room is very comfortable. Coffee shop/restaurant is very convenient and good. Parking is easy.

1. The bed & pillows was exceptional comfortable. 2. The additional sink and tap together with a microoven in the room itsef (outside the toilet & shower) make it practical and convenient for making our hot drinks and getting our water supply. 3. Individual AC in good working condition which we can control the temperature in the room! 4. Strong shower and quality shower gel and body lotion. 5. The design of the toilet allows me to put my toiletries and make up easily. 6. Room service - food available even early in the morning at 2 AM! Order is just at your finger tip via the hotel's tablet. 7. The hotel restaurant food was so delicious and reasonably price! 8. All reception Staff was courteous, reliable and helpful (especiallly Natasha) who helped booked local Tours and Taxi. The recommendation to take bus to Gondola and sea side at New Brighton were wonderful. The bus stop is just 2 to 3 minutes away from the hotel.

We came here on our honeymoon and the staff ramped it up for us. We really didn’t expect anything but they put us up in a suite, gave us welcome drinks and free coffees for the duration of our stay. Besides that, it’s in a great location, they have one of Christchurch’s flagship cafes sitting on the ground floor (Majestic at Mayfair) which is super convenient (food + coffee is great) and you’re sitting across the road from the botanical gardens. Staff are really nice and can provide some tips for local food and experiences

Absolutely one of our favourite hotels we have stayed at. The staff were so friendly and attentive from the get go. The hotel was stunning. The room was huge and lovely decor. Bed was comfy and bathroom was beautiful. The room service was 5/5 star food. We loved the food so much there that we ended up having all our breakfast there via room service. The coffee was top tear. The hotel surprised us with free drinks and that made us so happy. We honestly loved the hotel so much that we decided to have a little staycation during our holiday and enjoy relaxing at Mayfair. Already wish we could go back. Another great aspect was the tablet in the room which we could order the room service , order things we needed such as extras pillows and info.

It was a decent location though slightly (15 -20 mins walk) away from the main attractions in Christchurch . We still felt it’s was a good enough location as the walk was quite pleasant . The food options around the location included some happening restaurants and bars including The Goldfinch, You Hanoi Me, and Red Light District. The Majestic Bar and Restaurant in the hotel itself was also very viby with great food options including for vegetarians. The staff was very helpful and friendly.

The hotel did not have a separate bell desk and concierge and usually reception was busy so could not help with luggage etc .. so if you expecting full five star frills such as these then this property does not have them. . Given that it is a boutique property with less than the full 5 star frills, the pricing seemed to be a bit on the higher side. However we would stay again so not a deal killer for us

We stayed here as part of our "mini-moon" after getting married in Queenstown and traveling around the South for a week in an RV, and it was exactly what we needed! They made our stay truly special by upgrading our room and providing some of the best service we've ever experienced. The Room: The room was huge! We had an amazing view towards the mountains and the bed was super comfortable, with the addition of being able to choose from a pillow menu for those who prefer a different type of pillow to the ones they provided. The mini-bar was included in our room and the bathroom was fantastic with great lighting, a rain shower and quality finishings. The Service: The check-in staff were incredible and explained their little iPad system to us, and also gave us a free cocktail voucher and unlimited barista coffees! Their cafe and restaurant is really nice and the staff there were great as well! Overall: Next time we're in Christchurch, we'll be making sure to stay here again!

The only downside was that even on a cold day, the room was right in the afternoon sun and was pretty hot when we arrived, but a quick boost of the aircon made it comfortable.

This low-key hotel is located on the edge of the city in a quiet village with lots of bars and restaurants. The intimate breakfast area doubles as a meeting point for people who live and work in the village which adds a bit of buzz at all times of the day. Although the Mayfair presents as a boutique hotel in size it is designed to the best hotel standards. Everything works down to the smallest details whether it be reading in bed, sitting at a computer, powering up the gadgets or just looking at the view. It is understated as an experience but is relaxing and functional. Perfect in fact.

Nothing. Loved every minute of it. Staying at the Mayfair turned out to be a great start for a 3-week holiday on the South Island. To make our start even better, we found the nearby Athens Yacht Club nearby for a snack and drink after our late arrival. Athens Yacht Club sounds crazy for a bar but that suited us well. The food was truly Modern Athenian with Greek wine to match. The best part though was one of the Athens Yacht Club staff...Nicki. The Yacht Club was getting quieter so Nicki sat down with us and wrote down a list of restaurants and unusual wines for us to chase all over the South Island which we did of course...great fun! If we hadn't chosen the Mayfair this might not have happened.

Breakfast was delicious, and wasnt charged extra for OJ and added on bits from the menu, that in total made up for the visit and we really enjoyed our stay and felt appreciated. Absolutely love Byredo, the overall and final choice of our stay was to do with my favorite product being used in the Hotel.

Initially when we arrived, the girl behind the counter was not patient enough for my husbands payment to go through, we almost ended up paying twice because of it. Our initial room was smelling of ashtray, lovely Natascha changed our room and we got a lovely fresh smelling room which we really appreciated.

Lovely boutique hotel on the edge of the city. Offering very comfortable rooms and super-king sized beds. For us a great spot to use to explore the city area and all its attractions. Whilst the hotel has a small restaurant and bar which we didn’t use during our stay, it was always very busy. There are numerous restaurants in a short walking distance, as well as, those in the centre of the city, being only a short taxi ride away.

Unfortunately, on our second evening the restaurant and bar had been booked out for a private function, so unable for residents to use. Perhaps next time we stay.
