From the moment we parked our car outside the front door, the warm welcome was lovely from Gillian. We booked the lovely twin unit located to the back of the property. Gillian's presentation of the unit was top notch right from her beautiful homemade raspberry jam, to the Hotel style linen and bathroom facilities. Gillian, James and Sam - the friendly black German Shepherd dog were so welcoming and looked after us throughout our two night stay, we didn't want to leave. Gillian farewelled us with a jar of her fine homemade raspberry jam - delicious! We will return one day soon - Ngā mihi nui Gillian, James and Sam ☺️

From the moment we met James and Sam (his dog) we were greeted and given all the information we needed. Nothing better than feeling comfortable the moment we got there. Our room was fit for purpose, clean and had everything we needed. The shower was the cleanest one I have ever seen. Not a speck of dirt or water marks anywhere on the shower door. I couldn't believe how clean everything was, just amazing.The cooked breakfast the next day was beautiful. It felt like home away from home!

I couldn't wait to finally come and stay here. Gillian & James were the perfect hosts ensuring we were comfortable and had all that we needed. The room was immaculately clean with enough space for our bags & us. Very local to town, the pool, sporting grounds and my marae. James was so nice to prepare breakfast for us the morning we left and Gillian's hug kept me warm all day. We will definitely stay there again 🙏🏽

That we didn't stay longer

I felt safe, the host was friendly but not over bearing, the room and facilities were beautiful, clean and cosy. It was great to have a desk, tv, ensuite, fridge and coffee etc. The takeaway soaps were a lovely touch too.

The busy road was a bit noisy, a desk lamp would've helped and a microwave, plates and cutlery with dishwash liquid would've been awesome. These are all minor points because on the whole the stay was awesome.

Great location if you travel by car, per bus it is a bit of a walk from the city centre, but the former is usually the default. There is also a dairy around the corner, so easy to get the basics covered. The room was clean, shower pressure excellent, shampoo and soap provided and the proprietors were very helpful (drove me to the bus stop) and we had a few pleasant chats. They also have a friendly and well behaved dog. Breakfast was very good with a variety of spreads, toast and a good cup of coffee. All in all would definitly recommend. I used the earplugs provided, so the traffic noise at night wasn't a big deal for me.

I couldn't connect the smart TV to the wifi, so no Netflix, but Sky worked fine and it wasn't really something I absolutely needed. I am sure if I would have asked it would have been sorted. That's my minor quibbel, everything else was just fine or exceptional.

Gill and James (and Sam) were lovely to us and we felt very welcomed. They were available on Whatsapp which was helpful as I couldn't load the information from booking.com. The rooms were well furnished, characterful, warm, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was really nice too. I was pleasantly surprised that in the front rooms, the noise from the road was not bad at all.

Everything! I had such a lovely stay with Gillian, James, and the beautiful Sam. Gillian and James were so friendly and helpful, I felt very comfortable. My dietary requirements were catered to at very short notice, my breakfast options were delicious, and everything was spotlessly clean. Thanks again and I hope to be back!

Clean rooms, modern, nice bathrooms.

The big dog in the hallway barking. Not something you expect when you first meet the owner but you hear the dog first in the late evening. Doesn't matter if we're told he's friendly. It does matter if I'm the guest and am cautious about the safety around a dog I've never met before and it's barking loudly.

The hosts were very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble to make us comfortable. Our room was spacious with a very comfortable bed. The bathroom had a great shower and everything was spotlessly clean. We enjoyed lovely breakfasts with the other guests and our hosts. Would recommend highly.

The property is on a busy main highway. However, the room had double glazed windows and we slept well in the comfy bed.

James, Jill (and Sam, the gorgeous dog!) were incredibly kind and welcoming when we had something go wrong with our booking! Their B&B is beautifully set up and in a terrific location for exploring the Taranaki region. Breakfasts were amazing too! I can’t say enough positive things.
