Excellent location, great breakfast buffet with fresh vegetables and fruits, fish and meats—lots of variety. Comfortable bed and pillows. Lovely rose garden. 2 minute walk to train and ferry (electric slow ferry highly recommended ) good staff. Loved the shower, it was like getting a hot massage. Also loved smelling the clean air in Flam and around the fjords. There are very few smokers.
Historic room had no tv. Buffet dinner above our price range—$67 each. Not much shelf space or drawers for clothes. The price of the room was over $400. We would stay there again because of the location— beware it’s Norway and it rains a lot.

Comfortable beds and good location. Bike hire available right outside the entrance next to the museum (245kr for 2 hours). Buffet dinner was very expensive, over 600kr/person so we ate elsewhere. Breakfast buffet was good. Family room was small considering the price. The hotel in Gudvangen was far better - bigger with kitchen and living room area, and views more spectacular
No fridge in room. Poor hairdryer. Expensive dinner

It was in a great location with a fancy and clean lobby and food area. The rooms are basic but mine had a great view. No AC, which I don’t think was obviously stated when booking. No extra frills in the room, but hopefully you’re not in your room a lot.
No AC or wash clothes but that seems standard in Norway.

We were very glad we chose to stay here overnight. The buffet dinner was an amazing selection of high quality Norwegian foods, many were locally sourced. It was also nice to stay overnight and get to see Flåm without cruise ships dominating the view. Staff were very helpful. We arrived a couple of hours before check in and there was a nice lounge area near reception with water, coffee and options to sit inside or outside as well as a bar offering other drinks and snacks. We were also able to leave our luggage behind reception before check in/after check out, which made walking around much easier.
The water temperature was a little variable in the bathroom, but this is often the case in older hotels in Norway and didn't cause us any great issues

This hotel was lovely from the moment you walk in; the lobby looks Xmassy and cosy. The room was warm and comfortable, with plenty of essentials included. Breakfast had plenty of choice and seating. My only complaint would be selfish people in adjoining rooms that think it’s ok to shout out, talk loud or laugh loud late into the night. Totally not the hotels fault, I would bring ear plugs to rectify it. The view from our room was beautiful too; the fjord and the mountains.
Can hear so much from the next rooms, above and below too. Stomping up and down, loud talking. Ruins sleep easily. Thin walls can’t be fixed, so put ear plugs in the room perhaps…

Very scenic location, and a great train ride to Flam on the famous Flam railway. I strongly recommend renting bicycles and riding them up towards the waterfalls on the service road that parallels the train tracks - that was a highlight.
This hotel was very, very expensive, so while every was quite nice, it was not especially good value for the money. The small town where it is located also gets cruise ships docking nearby, and becomes inundated. Look up the cruise docking schedules, and choose nights for your stay when no ship is scheduled.

I wasn't quite sure what to expect from the hotel. But I was positively surprised. The room was quite big with a queen size bed and two small armchairs and a table. If the weather is nice you can even sit outside as they provided a small table and chairs. I felt warm and toasty at night. The staff working at reception were very friendly and helped me find the way to Brekkefossen. At the breakfast room you have a nice view across the fjord. The food was fresh and delicious and plentiful. The choice was quite extensive: hot, cold, sweet, savoury, cold cuts, smoked salmon, fruit, yoghurt etc. I'd definitely recommend staying here. The hotel is situated two minutes from the Flam Railway.

Easily accessible from Oslo Central Train station by rental car for €94 for a weekend for driving up the 7 or E16 or taking the Bergen F4 Train up the Myrdal and the Flåmsbana down the Valley to the fjord(book early!) the Freheim is my go-to see Norway for $ but have 5-Star experience weekend. The Staff is friendly, shares good information for day trips, travel back to Oslo or over to Voss-Bergan and offers unknown local facts and details that enhanced our experience. Hotel offers a glass enclosed Viewing Tower for star gazing, bird’s eye view of the Fjord and the Northern Lights. A traditional Foods of Norway nightly buffet is available that never disappoints with its traditional and gourmet food options for all diet types. The Daily Breakfast Buffett offers traditional Norwegian foods, continental foods and snippets from around the world. I took my mom here just for the buffets and hotel experience. Worth the full rate, but luckily Booking has offered rates as low as €99 a night!
I’ve stayed in the Modern(shown in pics)and Heritage rooms. I was surprised by the softness of the Heritage room king bed. I expected a firm mattress but slept well on a soft one!

Great location right on the dock. We managed to use one of the electric car chargers in the car park which was v handy. The staff were lovely and squeezed us in for dinner in the burger restaurant late in the evening. The view from the room and from both the restaurants was great.
Having to pay for the hotel car parking was a bit cheeky in my opinion but maybe that’s typical in Norway. We had a bathtub in our room with a shower head on the wall and the water went absolutely everywhere when using the shower and flooded the bathroom (it wasn’t intended to be a wet room as far as I’m aware) and the water was scalding hot. The burgers in the new restaurant were overpriced and underwhelming.
