This historic hotel hit all the marks. Great location, great building with beautiful lobby and fabulous wrap-around (almost) porch to enjoy drinks and visit with friends. Most importantly, the front desk and restaurant staff is outstanding. Our room was comfortable, with a traditional decor but updated with fresh amenities and good lighting. Parking was easy and free, and we were close to the parks and trails we wanted to explore. Pompey's Grill offered truly fine dining (best to make a reservation ahead of time). Loved the little luxury touches throughout our stay - lavender towels upon arrival, fresh lemon water in the lobby, and a better than average continental breakfast with great coffee. Very welcoming, very professional - just a delightful stay.

Nice historical hotel that I have stayed at over the past 20 years. I always enjoy the food and especially the bar. When the weather is nice nothing beats sitting on the porch. Well maintained.
Given that it hosts various events and noise can be an issue, here are some suggestions. Try and avoid weekend stays. Street noise can be an issue for sleeping. Views aren't the reason you stay here--ask for a non-street room. When visiting in the summer inquire if the in window a/c units have been installed--white noise helps with sleeping. If you want a first floor room (no elevator in hotel) inquire if window opens to the porch (people sitting and talking).

beautiful premises but could not enjoy it had no available seating in upper restaurant. Lower restaurant had no ambiance. room unbelievably small with no easily accessed outlets to use, though all new. The breakfast was up lots of stairs and very minimal in a tight corner of the hall. the lobby and historical atmosphere brought this rating up. Staff were very helpful.
bedroom was only big enough for the bed and tiny chest with no chair or comfort place to sit. too much space designated to lobby and not enough for customer room comfort. large restaurant on ground floor but had to climb lots of steps for meager breakfast in upstairs hall. Not a 5star hotel I would return to for comfort.

Sacajawea Inn is a beautifully restored property that is both elegant and comfortable, very near to a beautiful Montana State Park located where the Madison, Jefferson and Gallatin rivers converge to form the Missouri River. The Pompey's Grill restaurant, which is part of the Inn, is outstanding -- some people say it is the best restaurant in the State of Montana, which may be correct!
I was sad to learn that Pompey's Grill was closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. One of my main reasons for booking a stay was to treat my brother to a spectacular meal at the restaurant, which was not possible.

First, walking into the hotel was like walking back in time. But we did enjoy the modern touches! The staff were all super friendly and helpful. Our room was cozy but super comfortable with everything we expected and needed. We loved that there were so many areas to stop and relax inside and out without feeling on top of other guests. The price was more than we’ve spent on a hotel in a while. Totally worth it. The room and bathroom were spotlessly clean and smelled wonderful. Not like fake air freshener. We enjoyed the many pictures and artifacts throughout the hotel and grounds because we are huge history and Lewis and Clark fans. It was an absolutely delightful stay.
More places to plug in things in the room. We understand that it is an old hotel but we had cameras and laptops that needed charging. A small strip of plugs would have been nice.

From the moment we pulled up to The Sacajawea we loved it. So beautiful and very well maintained. The person at the front desk, Janine, was lovely and greeted us with a hand towel and a glass of champagne. Our room was so lovely and very well appointed. The Pompey Grill was beautiful and so delicious. Our waiter, Joseph, was so professional. Even the wine selection was great, with beautiful wine glasses, with gorgeous thin rims. Loved this hotel.
I loved everything.

The historical hotel oozes with old world charm and is simply stunning!. From the initial greeting with champagne and treats for my dog the hotel staff "bend over backwards" to make you comfortable and satisfied. The rooms are well-appointed and very comfortable. Breakfast is upstairs and offers many choices and can be taken to your room or outside. The restaurant is cosy with a great bar and booths and the food is yummy!

The staff was amazing upon arrival the front desk gentleman was welcoming funny and super nice. I loved the warm hand towels with lavender and the offering of Champaign. He also offered sparkling apple cider to our kiddos who where super excited about it. He also saw our littles one eyeballing the s’mores package and was so sweet and gave her one. I work a ton and it just made my day to receive a courteous welcome and some bubbly after a long week upon arrival The hotel is beautiful the ambiance was perfect with music and the lighting. It had great feel to be it. My employee booked our room for our stay and we realized she didn’t request 2 beds for us and our kids. The front desk gentleman helped us switch to something more accommodating for 4 people. He recommended a cottage across the street so we decided to take it. It was perfect. It had a huge California king and a couch bed with a tv fireplace and kitchenette. It worked perfectly for the 4 of us. The bed was great! I slept like a rock and had some dreams so I must have gotten some good sleep and hit the REM. The room was super cute loved having a kitchen area and a tiny fridge with complementary items. I would definitely stay here again. It would be a nice place for an anniversary or romantic getaway or even to host a business trip for your employees. We didn’t get to dine the restaurant or go to the bar but next time we’ll definitely try it out.
Stayed in a cottage. With 2 women and 2 girls their was only a sink mirror and a full length mirror in the bathroom it was really hard for all of us to get ready sharing a mirror. Would like to see another mirror in the bedroom area or tv/coach area. For those multiple women staying or even for when the hubby hogs the bathroom there’s and other mirror for the women to use.

beautiful hotel close to freeway but quiet even in a room facing the road. many little details tended to. I would stay here again. restaurant on main floor is beautiful and has an amazing menu and $$$. bar downstairs is very low key and after a full day of driving hit the spot. we split the sac burger and with fries and a salad was less than $20. very tasty too. and they allow dogs. breakfast was continental and the banana bread was to die for (no nuts for those allergic)
no elevator and schlepping bags to third floor is a thing.

Beautiful old hotel with a lot of history and very strong presence in the local community still today. We enjoyed having an aperitivo on the patio, dinner in the restaurant and a drink in the bar downstairs with the locals!
Breakfast could definitely be improved! It is what you expect in a highway motel but not a more exquisite (and more expansive!) hotel!
