The hotel garden is exceptinal. I believe they are the best one in Unawatuna. The breakfast is beyond expectations. Pool is lovely for the familys, we prefer to swim in the sea. They have a private beach but maybe it may be season effect, the sea was so wavy. There are good beaches reachable by tuk tuk.

When you sit outside, there is no way to protect yourself from mosqiuotes. They are using some natural techniques to get them away, but it is no use. Bring insect repellent with you.

Friendly staff, lovely quiet private grounds with a beautiful garden and large pool. There's also a private beach across the street, close to Unawatuna Beach. Our room (Grand Suite) was even bigger than we imagined. Food was also great.

There was a beach party one night with loud music all night, we didn't sleep. The hotel couldn't help it of course and the manager even checked for us whether there were going to be more parties the next nights. So we were very happy with the service.

Hard to sum up how good this place is. Beautiful and well thought out design with great food and service. They went out of their way for our 6 month old baby and little touches make this perfect. Small things like having a ceiling fan over every sitting area, a private beach with grassy front so you don’t have to get sandy if you don’t want to, and chance are the other guests will be lovely too (it’s intimate so there won’t be big parties of people - and we made friends!). Good location with easy Tuk Tuk rides to turtle beach, and Galle and walking to Unawatuna. Would highly recommend for travelling with a baby.

very nice hotel

it would not be bad in a hotel of this level to serve espresso or cappuccino for breakfast. The hotel has its own beach, but you cannot swim there.

This hotel is lovely, it is located on different levels and has ponds and numerous trees on site which make it different and very pleasing to the eye. The location Is great - close to beach and town. Room was large, clean and had all the facilities inside that are expected. Swimming pool and jacuzzi on site both clean. Sadly for us the weather was poor when we were there so we didn’t actually get a chance to use them but they looked great! Staff were polite and accommodating. Arrived early and they allowed us to check in early and provided us with all the information we needed. There is a chill out area with board games, cards, books and darts I thought this was a great idea! Breakfast was good. Choice of eggs and toast with coffee/tea.

The fact we couldn’t stay for longer and the weather was poor for us! Nothing on the hotel of course which was great.

There are not many properties where all points you can give are actually not enough, but the Sergeant House is such a place. We stayed in the 3-Bedroom-Villa with our kids and had a fantastic time. It’s literally impossible to say what we have enjoyed more, the attention given to us by the staff or the amazing property. We are definitely looking forward to repeat this experience again.

From the moment you arrive you can feel how special this place is. The garden, pool, houses and the staff are just exceptional and so warm and welcoming. The bedrooms are simply stunning and beautifully furnished, great bed & bath! Also the best meals ever, the curry evening here was the most amazing food we had. We loved everything and would go back to Sergeants House again and again, thank you for such a special stay!

Peaceful, tranquil with stunning decor. Very relaxing environment with amazing friendly staff. Fantastic accommodation with great choice of menu. Great facilities with nothing left to chance. Attention to detail was flawless. Excellent location to local amenities.

Nothing to dislike.

The Sergeant House is an ensemble of buildings built in classical Sri Lankan architecture, with high-quality furniture typical of the country and lovingly designed, very appealing decoration in all areas of the complex. Although the original building is very old, it leaves nothing to be desired in terms of modern, contemporary comfort. The rooms are furnished and equipped down to the smallest detail. The lush tropical garden is well maintained and offers a sheltered Jacuzzi area and other quiet seating areas. The pool is elegantly blended into the grounds and offers a sort of jungle feeling when swimming. The really private small but nice beach offers sunny and shady spots on a nice lawn. As the hotel does not have many rooms, there was always a very private, quiet and relaxed atmosphere. The staff are personable, friendly and well trained. The very nice, competent manager of the hotel Chanthuri is always available for her guests and was always a good help with any questions. The tuktuk drivers and masseurs she arranges are also highly recommended. There was nothing to complain about. I would happily come back anytime.

A wonderful way to end our vacation in Sri Lanka! We enjoyed the pool (clean water! good for splashing about and for laps!), rooms (tastefully decorated) and grounds (impeccably kept), breakfast (varied and tasty), and yoga (instructor was patient and well-informed). It seems every aspect was thought through with great care for guests' comfort and relaxation.
