The renovation of the complex was tasteful. We really enjoyed the many memorials, photos and writings by José Coelho, an archaeologist. The location of Casa da Torre is in a very quiet location. The woman who was attending to the breakfast was extremely helpful in providing additional important historical information about Professor Coelho, his work, as well as his home.

We did not have a car and the location of the Casa da Torre was a bit out of town. One must balance the location with having a restful quiet stay and night of sleep.

Beautiful hotel with history and character. Comfortable bed and room. Breakfast could be better - better selection of fresh fruit and cereal included rather than for an extra charge I would have preferred not to have to choose breakfast upon arrival and picking a time Pity the pool was not open for use

Everything. Staff, comfort, cleanliness, facilities, secure parking, Viseu! There was a coffee machine (hot water for tea too, although no black tea or milk). We ordered extra breakfast food (we were given a list to pick from) and had a very small extra charge for it. 9€ for both of us. This included soya yoghurt and omelette, cold meats, fruit, etc. And the lovely local cake which we took away with us in the bag provided. For people on motorbikes, in inclement weather like we had (rain!), there is under cover parking.. but just ask for the garage as the only issue we had was the girl who gave us the room key didn't offer this, I think due to limited English. The senior staff member who came in the morning was very apologetic and told hubby to move the bike to the garage. She was lovely and very knowledgeable about the area. She speaks French too, so I conversed with her better in French. Look for the historic buildings at the top of the town and just below them there's an old plaza where you will find restaurants. We found a menu del dia with a lovely atmosphere and very affordable. There's an Indian restaurant too!

Nothing. The language difference caused a few issues, but overall, we were spoiled! Thank you.

Unexpected lovely welcome from the owners! I can't promise you the same, but I was immediately offered fresh coffee, but the highlight was the sincere welcome. Fabulous varied fresh breakfast brought to me by the third member of the family! Thank you! The historic building once the home of an archaeologist has been restored to an exceptionally high standard and facilities Very quiet but located just a couple of minutes from the town. On Google Maps, it appears way out. But its not! Large spacious room. Bizarrely Google Maps totally omits the huge beautiful River Piava,which has a river path, but you will need a proper map to find it, or the Viseu tourist leaflet

We were greeted warmly after parking in front of the easily accessible, secure, free parking in front of the hotel. Our stay at this well located and beautifully restored home of a revered Viseu teacher/archaeologist has been a highlight of our travels around Portugal. This is a family owned and run hotel and pride of ownership is clearly evident. The family was so gracious and kind and we learned so much about life in this region from them. The lovely, spacious room and large bathroom were immaculately clean and comfortable. Breakfast was abundant and delicious. Our stay was perfect and we look forward to returning!

The hotel is very unique - it's a former house (converted into hotel) by a local archeologist. It's a boutique hotel, has only 7 rooms. The rooms are not big (but bathroom is huge!), but nobody stays in a room when you travel, right? We spent 3 nights and everything was great. The rooms are very tastefully decorated, has memorabilia, has some archeological info. Everything was super clean. Super white. The housekeeping was provided every day. I particularly liked the heater in the bathroom (it can get quite cold during the night, so it's nice to walk in into the warm bathroom in the morning). The location of the hotel is great- on the outskirts of the city (when I say "outskirts" it means only 7 min slow walk to the center, yeh, Portugal is a small country), hence there is almost no traffic there during the night. It was SUPER quiet. The breakfast was fantastic and with freshly baked goods every morning. the people that work at the hotel are the most cordial and helpful and amazing. Plenty of parking spots in the hotel yard/parking, and it's free. The bed was super comfortable btw.

I recently had the most incredible time at Casa da Torre Viseu. It was seriously amazing! From the moment I arrived, I knew I was in for something special. The rooms at Casa da Torre Viseu were like a cozy paradise. The sheets were so luxurious, I felt like I was sleeping on a cloud. And can we talk about how clean everything was? Spotless! Now, let me tell you about the best part – the breakfast! Picture this: a beautiful plate served with the freshest cherries and strawberries from their garden. It was like a burst of sweet goodness on my taste buds. Yum! And speaking of breakfast, they went all out. They served it with fancy Vista Alegre China and elegant table linens. It felt like a fancy feast, and I couldn't help but feel like royalty. But you know what made my stay truly special? The people. The owner, her daughters, and the staff were so friendly and welcoming. They treated me like family and made me feel right at home. Their warmth and genuine care made all the difference. If you're looking for a place that combines comfort and a friendly vibe, Casa da Torre Viseu is the place to be. I liked everything

Very friendly, helpful staff that helped us taking luggage from and to our car. Great location with parking. Beautiful historic building, but modern interior. Very comfy beds and room with coffee in the room. Great selection of the included breakfast; breads, pastry, ham, cheese, fruit, yogurt, juice, tea, coffee. For an extra charge, you can also get hot cooked items. The breakfast is served at your table at your chosen breakfast time. Much better than a buffet. Highly recommend and we will return.

 A family run seven room property with gated parking. The family does everything possible to ensure that your stay and visit to Viseu  is the best possible experience. while not located in the old town. It is a 15 minute modestly downhill and uphill walk to the cathedral and on the way back just before you reach the hotel on the right there’s a very nice view of the old town.

While the parking gate has the number to call to get it open it’s not that easy to see when you’re parked parallel to the gate. They should send it to you before your arrival.

the property is beautiful through out it is so cozy and breaths warmth and history it is well run with staff that are proud and passionate about what they do - they were so friendly and ready to help with everything-ready to recommend things to visit in the area and so proud of their historical town- have to commend the establishment on their great staff - definitely recommend 10/10
