Great setting with beautiful rooms in a beautiful tropical garden. The staff goes to incredible lengths to make you feel at home. We got an upgrade for a small additional charge, the room with jacuzzi is very spacious and comfortable. With a beautiful view of the beautiful pool, the tropical garden and the river. The beautiful pool bar and the fantastic restaurant make the stay complete. After a biting incident with a monkey, we received maximum support from the staff who always advised us. They even went with us to the hospital and pharmacy, everyone showed a lot of interest and offered care and help. To ease the pain, we were pampered and spoiled extra. Unbelievable and never experienced before. We already thought it was a great place with very nice and service-oriented staff, but because of the way they supported us, they deserve a big 10+. Thanks again to the management and the entire team.

Beautiful resort! Amaranthe was the perfect piece of luxury we needed during our trip in Sri Lanka. The highlights were the buffet breakfast and beautiful pool. The rooms were well equipped and very comfortable. Really close to the beach strip and lovely places to eat! Can definitely recommend.

Nothing specific, this is a lovely place to stay if looking for some luxury. Only a couple of minor things that may be improved; A bit more music variety at the outdoor bar or opportunity to take requests for music might be good and one of the rooms we stayed in had a bit of an “off” smell in it. But apart from those things it was fantastic!

The hotel sits on the banks of a river which is lovely for nature lovers. The pool is where we spent a lot of time. It’s clean and you can eat your meals and have drinks in your sun chairs. The food is delicious. Breakfast buffet each morning with lots of options and lunch and dinner a la carte style with quality food. The staff are particularly good. Thanks to Priwim, Mayuran, Sanujan, Karthik and Chataranga. They were kind and helpful. Karthik was very helpful and even gifted us a cake in celebration of our honeymoon. He was very sweet. Location is good for walking to the beach which has great restaurants and good swimming. You can also hire bicycles and tuk tuks. We stayed for 4 nights and really enjoyed our stay.

Nice, Spacious and comfortable room. Good restaurant for dining. The staff was very helpful and provided with all necessary details for nearby tourist activities, helped with first aid kit when I got injured,etc. The hotel also has tie-ups with local tour guides and provide tour options at considerable rates and their tour guides are top quality and speak good English. Had a lot of fun thanks to Amaranthe.

There is no direct beach access but there is a good beach just 5 minutes away. A direct beach access would have been like the utlimate cherry on top.

Beautiful resort - best bit was its location. It was next to a lagoon and in the evening oxen wandered down to the water to cross to a nearby island. Lots of very interesting wildlife to see as you sat for an evening drink. A short walk away there was a great beach, which had a couple of beach bars but was relatively deserted

We went in February when the resort and the area generally had hardly any tourists - some nights we were the only people dining in the hotel

Rooms are very spacious and very clean. The staffs are extremely friendly, specially the chef in the restaurant who is very welcoming with an extraordinary attitude. I love the reception area and welcome process. Rooms with direct access to the pool are great. The bar with the typical Sri lankan hut style amazing. My son had a very pleasant stay.

Only issue I faced is about the hotel key which was not working properly despite multiple time changing it. The driver cottage was charged 2500 LKR. Most of the other hotels don’t charge accommodations for driver. Also this is not a beach front hotel. Would have been amazing if it was beach front.

The staff were amazing. Everyone went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. The room was very spacious with great views and the facility provided high quality internet.

The quality of the bed linens were sub standard and there were several areas in the room that needed maintenance. The food was probably the biggest issue. I'd you are a big fan of curry and rice, you will be very happy. However, the western diet offerings were coming up short of satisfactory.

The Hotel is clean, the staff is super friendly and the Junior Suites with their own Jacuzzi are something out of the ordinary and worthwhile booking this hotel. The general look and feel is great, but admittedly aged, or let's say the place could easily be ranked higher if one would put more thoughts into the details and do more maintenance. Then again, we also visited other hotels in the region and Amaranthe Bay does not at all stand behind other 5* hotels, except it does not have an own beach access, this is however possible through the neighbour hotel. Well, the possibility of a candle-light dinner on a float on the river certainly makes up for that. So if you are looking for a place a little bit off-side the usual touristic places this could well be your call since only 10min walk you hit one of the best spots on the beach -> Fernandos bar.

Just to put everything in perspective. The below is complaining on a high level, none of it will make you regret the stay at Amaranthe Bay, but we believe, the hotel has a great potential for more. The street, or should I say non-lighted narrow dirt road leading to the Hotel certainly does not meet the class of the hotel and takes away a lot on the initial arrival enthusiasm. The pool-bar is nicely surrounded by a sort of moat (canal) with Koi, but ...this and the Koi need way better care to make it the experience it is supposed to be. We stayed 6 nights and the breakfast was unfortunately the same every day. Freshly cooked a la carte, but the same all the time and unfortunately the fruit bar always felt like counted pieces per guest...

Super big spotless clean suite, very good food at a good price, nice swimming area, super relaxing stay and nice people. If there is any issue, they solve it immediately. Some comments are mentionning that it is a bit wore out, it is correct that in some common area’s not all is brand new, but this did not bother us because of the nice atmosphere. Would book this proprety again without doubt, just the room price when we stayed was slightly high, but you also get a lot for it.

The hotel is very good. Room is clean and spacious. The view on the bay is gorgeous. It’s relatively close to the beach and the ocean in this area is very clean and warm. We spent here 4 nights with our 3 years old son and we all had a wonderful time. The staff is very attentive. I especially want to highlight the man at the pool area and the guys from the restaurant, especially Kirujan , who was very helpful with all our needs. The food was delicious and varied. Definitely recommend this hotel. From what we’ve seen that’s probably the best resort in the area.
