MRD is a charming oasis away from the main road and only a five minute walk along a footpath to the beautiful beach where there is a choice of restaurants and bars. Our room was clean, well fitted out with a great shower and two huge double beds. Outside was a seating area overlooking the large swimming pool which had a separate shallow children’s area. The staff were all polite and helpful and the Sri Lankan breakfast was plentiful and delicious. You may even have to explain why you couldn’t eat it all! We had a great stay and would come here again. Just one small tip, the hotel only accepts cash and likes to be paid on arrival.

Great location in Uppuvelli, a couple mins walk to the beach, many restaurants and also to the shops on the main road. The room was comfortable and very clean. We stayed 4 nights and it was cleaned during our stay, which was great to get rid of sand! The pool was fantastic, really big and clean and the pool towels provided were lovely and soft. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The breakfast was large and well cooked

Breakfast- more variety would have been nice, so a bit different each day. It was the most expensive stay in SL of our 21 day trip; however the pool was so great that we would stay again.

Beautiful property, two minutes from beach with a terrific and attentive staff. Very clean and management immediately response to any concerns. Very good restaurant on site with outside alternatives close by but all have very similar menu so really no need to go. Breakfasts were a great value and very tasty. Grocery store tor snacks and toiletries nearby on main road. Lovely clean beach just steps away, plus a very clean pool onsite. You can use loungers belonging to restaurant on beach for the price of a drink. Very swimmable.

Not a thing.

Clean room, daily housekeeping, very good traditional breakfast, nice swimming pool. There is a separation between the shower and the rest of the bathroom. An inroom safe is available. Staff was very friendly. Overall a good experience.

The room was a little dark and the smell of the room was a little unfresh. The jaccuzzi was not clean, the price was quite expensive compared to other similar hotels in Sri Lanka. They only accept cash. The Wifi was very slow most times of the day. It would be nice to have a table and a chair in the room and not only outside. The closet for the clothes was very small.

Everything! The staff were amazing, couldn’t do enough for you and so friendly too. The location was perfect, very close to the beach. The pool was lovely, clean and well maintained. Our rooms were great. The A/C kept them cool. Very comfortable beds. Breakfast was great, lots of fruit, pancakes, hoppers etc. This hotel is a little oasis near a beautiful beach! Wish we were staying longer. Will definitely stay here again if we return to Trincomalee.

We really enjoyed staying at MRD Beach Hotel. Everyone was very nice there. They always helped when we asked for help. It was a quit and nice place to stay. The children loved the pool, they enjoyed every minute in this. The breakfast was very delicious and it was impossible to leave in hunger. Thank you for that. :) There is a supermarket and a tuktuk place really nearby and to the beach it was only a 3 minutes walk. So it was perfekt. We really liked the atmosphere, the people, the breakfast, the pool and the rooms. We came as guests and left as friends. 😊 So thank you very much for that nice stay. If we are in this area, we will definitely come back.

Nothing to improve

clean overall, nice big swimming pool, comfy room/bed/bathroom. Hot water, shower pressure. Smiling and helpful staff, apart from the manager who was sometimes intrusive, to say it politely. The nearby beach is clean and there are a few restaurants as well nearby

small things were missing (Shampoo or at least shower gel) and the same thing happened to the guests who arrived right after us (we heard them asking for the same thing) Nobody specified when and how to have bed linen or towels changed. Breakfast very basic, the continental one, no flavor. the hotel is in a side road. The perk is that the beach at the end of the street is very clean, the only clean spot in that area. On the other hand, this street is almost in the dark at night, especially close to this hotel. I understand that this is not 100% the hotel's responsibility (mainly is the Government negligence) but still, it would be good for guests who would like to go out at night, reach the beach with restaurants or the main road safely

The hotel is in a great location, close to the beach and some restaurants, bars etc.. our room was big, it had air conditioning and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was clean and quite new. Outside the room there’s a big garden with a swimming pool. Every morning the breakfast was delicious. The staff was so kind and thoughtful. We also used a good laundry service.

In our room there was only a nightstand for two people. The room cleaning room should be better organised.

This hotel looks like a palace from the swimming pool view! In the evening with the lights absolutely beautiful. Service is really good! All the personnel who are working there are very friendly and nice. Evening staff went a mile extra to provide us with what we need for our 1 year old baby. Morning staffs were thinking together with us to find solution for an issue we faced. I would really recommend this beautiful hotel!

In this hotel, there was nothing to dislike. Everything was up to its standard and service was beyond!

Everything. Our stay was just perfect. The personal was always extremely friendly. They cleaned everything twice a day and the pool was very clean and also quite big. It contains a big children’s pool with a deep of 2.5 feet, a big adults pool with 4 feet and a small whirlpool area. We can highly recommend the breakfast, it was the best we had so far in Sri Lanka.
