15 minute walk from ambleside. 30 minute walk from Rydal caves. Room warm and comfortable Excellent breakfast choices as well. Cumbria breakfast and eggs benedict kept me well fed before a walk into the lakes If you do go for a walk into ambleside late make sure you bring a torch. Road not super well lit

Excellent breakfast and choice. Location was just as we wanted off the main road and surrounded by beautiful countryside. Nice and quiet. Just a short walk into town.

Nothing.

Perfect views overlooking the mountains, extremely picturesque & peaceful with beautiful grounds. Huge bedroom, bathroom & sitting room. The bed was perfect for my partner who’s 6ft2 & one of the comfiest we’ve slept in. Normal we struggle finding rooms with big beds. We could literally both starfish and still have loads of room. The shower was fantastic, very powerful. Unfortunately we fell asleep before we could soak in the whirlpool bath on both nights, due to the extensive walks. Everything was so clean, really didn’t want to leave.

There wasn’t anything, it is perfect

We had a very comfortable stay with a superb view out of the bedroom window - looking towards the Fairfield Horseshoe and surrounding countryside. Room was spacious & clean as was the ensuite bathroom. It was conveniently situated for going walking or getting a bus and the buses were at regular intervals and so that allowed us not to use the car! Breakfast was very good with a good choice on the menu. Staff & owners were very helpful and pleasant. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay & would return on another occasion.

Nothing springs to mind! Room got a little warm but a heater/fan was provided but chose not to use it.

The location, between Ambleside and Rydal, and roadside signage were excellent. The hotel had lovely gardens. My room was large enough, warm, clean and with ample space for storage of clothes etc. The hotel WiFi was quite fast enough for my needs. The king-size bed was comfortable and the bedlinen was crisp, white. A good supply of biscuits and beverages were available. The bathroom was nicely modernised with a good walk-in shower and units. Plenty soft, white towels were provided. Breakfast was served between 8:30 and 9:30. A good self-service choice of fruit and cereals was available before waitress-service of a hot breakfast from a choice of meals.

The enclosed car park is quite small, but , when I arrived in pouring rain, I had to get out of the car to open the wide gate and block it from closing to allow me to drive through and then, having parked to close the gate. By the time I started to unload my car, my clothes were drenched. I don't think the gate was really needed.

The bed was really comfortable. We liked that it had a fridge. The room was really clean and quiet . The breakfast was very tasty and served fast . The decor was beautiful. The grounds and views were picturesque and we were right on the outskirt of ambleside It was just a really nice stay . Would stay again for sure .

The only small thing that we could fund as a tiny issue but not a major one anyway. Is that breakfast is quite late . But it didn't matter to us too much as we were served very fast which made up for the late start

Good breakfast with good service. Big room with plenty of space. Quiet location. Comfortable beds. Big bathroom with excellent shower.

There was no sign to indicate guests needed to go through gate. Opening and closing the gate, particularly in the rain and dark was difficult. Settee in room was old and saggy. Hooks on back of bathroom door would have been useful as would more toiletries. More information about free parking in the evening at Ambleside would have been helpful.

The room (4) was excellent, the bathroom exceptional. Super breakfast.Could leave the car there and walk every where with ease; rivers, lakes, fells. Ambleside for excellent food at Lucy's and the Priest Hole.

The location is beautiful, sheep and cows in the fields, beautiful views. A garden to sit in and relax.Very quiet surroundings and a friendly sheep dog on the neighbouring farm. The room had everything you'd need, kettle, hair dryer, tv. Room was lovely and very clean. Breakfast was good. Choice of hot foods and help yourself to cereal. Not far to walk into town for food/drinks. Parking was easy and secure and easy to find the place.

Loved the quiet location within farm, 15-minute walk from town and restaurants. Breakfast very good selection. Historic property with character but decor in room had light touch (Scandinavian?) rather than heavy antiques which felt very comfortable. Reception & breakfast staff were lovely.

We skipped one breakfast in order to start a walk early. For us 8.30 is a late breakfast, but we realise that’s probably standard.
