Nice, quiet small guesthouse in central Portsmouth, about a 8 minute from Portsmouth and Southsea train station. Friendly helpful staff. Key access to building and en-suie private room. Comfy double bed, one armchair in froom, desk with draws, room and building carpeted. free tea/coffee plus sugar and milk in room, also kettle. bin in room. Free towels, toilet paper. room cleaned most days. tv on wall. Small n-suite bathroom, bath matt, toilet, sink and small shower. Hand soap in bathroom. Close to a small shop behind guesthouse. A 5 minute walk to small shop and Portsmouth History and Art Gallery Museum. Short drive to D-Day Story Museum, Portsmouth Cathedral and several pubs, including Smuggler's Island Pub.
Lots of stairs to room, not enough plug sockets in room. Room a little small for two people. Staff not always around to ask questions and obtain xtra tea/coffee etc.

Good location. Very friendly and helpful staff. Accommodations were made for us on request. Quiet, no disturbance during our stay. Good value and what we needed for a short getaway
Rickety furniture, we were worried drawers would break. Some areas needed a deeper cleaning. Stuffy room, fan had a broken dial so kept switching off. Windows had to remain shut when we weren't in because of location. One room had an outside facing, out of use door, nailed shut and a bed pushed against it, didn't feel very secure.

Had a fabulous stay, and look forward to coming back when it's a bit warmer later in the year. The room covered the three essential C's that I look for it a hotel: CLEAN, COMFORTABLE, excellent CUSTOMER Service. We had the best sleeps, as the room was surprisingly quiet and the bed was sooo comfy and immaculately clean. My partner came over from Spain to come on this trip with me. He's usually a very early riser...I couldn't shift him from this bed in the mornings! I've stayed in Marriott hotels that could learn a lot from the housekeeping in this hotel. You can see that there's real care gone into keeping the rooms clean. Absolutely spotless and fresh-smelling. No puny shower here either! I like a very very hot shower with lots of water pressure and that's what I got. Ok, the room wasn't huge, but it had everything we needed, cosy and comfortable, great to come back to after a day out exploring Portsmouth and Bognor Regis, flop on the bed, put the TV on and relax with a coffee. I have to say, Andrew is awesome. He explained everything clearly and was there to help, with a smile, any time. Had excellent local knowledge, and really cares about the experience his guests have at the hotel. Again Marriott could learn a lot! The hotel is perfect as a base for exploring; central to pretty much everything, and in walking distance of Portsmouth and Southsea train station. Don't be fooled by the "Budget" in the hotel name. Budget usually means something is missing for the price you pay. Nothing was missing, apart from the huge local price tag that the other places charge. I would change "Budget" to "Value" as that's exactly what this hotel is - fantastic value for money, and I look forward to going back. Sorry I haven't taken pics to share, but we were too busy enjoying our stay to be taking pictures.
This doesn't apply to our stay. There wasn't anything to dislike. Security deposits are a standard across the hotel industry; Andrew explained the security deposit clearly, and ours was returned without issue - which is how it works when you, as a hotel guest, respect the property you are staying in and the people who work there.

The staff were kind and friendly. The decor of the communal areas was good. Loved the stair carpets. The parking which was extra was very convenient outside in the main road. The kettle and tea, coffee and biscuits were also good. My room and bathroom were cleaned every day. It was very hot outside so the fan was very useful
I would have liked to have a desk in the room in order to be able to sit comfortably at my laptop when working. I had to sit on the bed. It would be helpful when booking if the website provided that information because I found out later that some rooms did have desks.

Easy to find and only a 10 minute walk to Gunwarf Quay in one direction, and the same to southsea sea front in the other. A walk into town for bars and clubs was not far either. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Paid £15 a day to park and it was only £13 to park right outside roadside. Bed wasn't the most comfortable but still managed 2 nights sleep without any issues.

We were drawn to this place because of the price, which is incredibly reasonable for the area and the facilities. Check in was easy and quick. Room was basic, but clean and comfortable. We didn't need anything more! Location was great for walking into town and over to the dockyard and gunwharf key. Hotel was just a short walk from the train station. Everything seemed recently decorated and was clean. Very happy with our choice and would use again.
Nothing. It was all better than expected

Rooms were ample in size and comfort. En-suites were roomy and clean. Staff were very helpful and polite. Rooms were decorated well and contained a TV and tea/coffee facilities. Hotel is situated in the middle of everything so anywhere we wanted to go was within walking distance. There was parking outside of the hotel and we payed £13 for 24hrs parking and walked everywhere. Place is budget but fairly priced and a delight to stay at.
We had 3 rooms over different floors and the only thing was that in each room we only had 2 cups despite the room being 2x 3 single beds rooms and 1x double bed with single bed room. Granted we could have asked for extra cups but we didn't need them until the morning when no one was about so didn't get the chance. Either way it's a small detail. Other than that you can hear alot of street noise which can make it hard to sleep if you are a light sleeper like me but again it's a small thing. Overall we loved staying here.

From start to finish the host, Andrew, was friendly and welcoming. There's no doubt that this isn't the Ritz, but our room was perfect for 2 adults on a fun packed festival weekend. Bed was comfy, bathroom was clean, half the price of the Holiday Inn. We had breakfast at the Chambers that's a 20 second walk from the front door, £12 for a huge full English.

Plenty of parking available out front or behind (extra charge) location to city facilities and attractions. Very clean rooms
Entrance hall could do with a tidy up (1st impressions count) Would be nice to have a small selection of toiletries in the bathroom.
