We had a really lovely stay here on our journey south to Inverness during our honeymoon. James & Kirsty were great hosts and made us feel very welcome as soon as we arrived. A real bonus was the possibility to eat and drink something in the evening once we arrived after a long journey. We had a beautifully prepared charcuterie board with fabulous produce local to Caithness, as well as local gin. The room was very nicely furnished and super clean, and there is also a separate guest lounge with TV and games which makes for a very comfortable stay. All in all, we can't fault this place and would definitely recommend to friends/stay again in future!

Sense of living in a big house with several rooms and amenities. Wonderful hosts with plentiful of suggestions of what to do in the area! I followed these instructions and it made my two days of travelling along NC500 - from places where to eat, routes to take and extra activities like surfing as well. The place is unique and I think one of the best in the area. Big thanks to James and Kirsty! I would totally recommend to friends and would consider for my next stay too to chat with these wonderful hosts and share what’s new.
I wouldn’t say I didn’t like it as everything was really cool and you can see it from my pictures, but for personal 10 I would like to have a newer mattress (although current one is good and bed linen is fantastic!) and if being capricious - coffee machine at the place, like nespresso as it is quite difficult in some areas to find decent coffee in coffee shops. As of mattresses - I found it’s relevant to all places I stayed at during my trip at NC 500 in 2024 within the price range of 80-150£ per night.

We needed a stopover from Norfolk to Orkney, we stumbled across this exceptional place on booking.com. Wow I'm so glad we did it was amazing. The hosts are super attentive without being intrusive. The accommodations are superb with your own little balcony. There's chickens that come to say hello in the morning too 😊 and of course there's free range eggs on the menu and to buy if you wish. We arrived late and hadn't eaten, we already knew about the charcuterie board as we'd seen it on the site. To be fair we did think oh that seems a little expensive. Anyway we ordered it with some house cocktails, it was superb, I won't spoil it for you but my recommendation is go for it you will not be disappointed. Bedtime!! Now you're in for a real treat, the bedding and mattress will put everywhere you've stayed before to shame!! I'll leave it with you... Breakfast is stunning do take the haggis even if you've never had it before!! All in all this is one of the very best bed and breakfasts we have ever stayed at and we're extensively travelled in the Uk.

It was one of the most beautiful places we have ever stayed at. James and Kristy's hospitality was fabulous. They warmly welcomed us and made us feel at home every moment, which was unique. The rooms and common areas were spotless. Finding the hotel was quite easy. The breakfast was perfect. Additionally, they prepared a brochure introducing the region with their own experiences, which was very helpful. The biggest reason we'd love to visit Lybster again on our next trip would be to spend time with them again. I wish we could have stayed longer.
Everything was perfect

We loved everything about our visit. James was very welcoming and Kirsty produced amazing things from the kitchen at breakfast. Our room was clean, comfortable and modern with lots of attention to detail. The guest lounge was an unexpected bonus enabling us to watch the Euros final with the other guests and James. The homemade cocktails helped to numb the pain of losing yet again! We will definitely be recommending this little haven to any friends doing the NC500.
The weather!! But nothing that James or Kirsty could do about that!

James and Kirstey were perfect hosts. They greeted us warmly, showed us to our comfortable rooms equipped with great linens, a comfy bed, and highest quality toiletries. They served us late charcuterie boards (one vegan) that were just delicious, only to be outdone by the wonderful breakfast. They are lovely hosts who went above and beyond to make us comfortable. Great common room with a pool table and games, and some very entertaining chickens in the yard. We also learned a lot from them about the area. We left behind a very valuable item and quickly received messages letting us know it would be kept safe for us. A truly fabulous experience.

We were met outside by James who took us to our room and explained the services on offer. We had already booked a table at The Bay restaurant, so did not need food. However when we returned, we very much enjoyed the Whisky and Gin taster boards and played a card game in the Lounge. The bed was very comfortable and we loved the décor and facilities. The cooked breakfast was exceptional by using local produce which added to the taste. This is how B&B's should be run. Well done James & Kirsty a well deserved 10 out of 10.

The hosts were very welcoming, helpful and friendly. Fabulously decorated large bedrooms with a balcony to sit out on. Very comfortable beds. Everything we needed was in the rooms. You can sit out in the garden. We ordered the fabulous charcuterie boards- which are all sourced locally. Great selection of alcohol. A large lounge to watch tele, good selection of board games and a pool table. The breakfast was cooked to order and was delicious! Would highly recommend when doing the NC500
Absolutely nothing!

This B&B is amazing, it was easy to find and the location is perfect. The rooms are themed and extremely well thought out with modern styling and comfortable beds. Although they do not serve evening meals, they are able to recommend local places to eat. They will also provide charcuterie boards if requested and have bar facilities. The hosts Kirsty and James were very welcoming and friendly and provided an excellent breakfast - both continental and cooked. We would definitely stay here again.

A very good breakfast and the room was excellent except for the shortage of a small wardrobe or rail for hangers. We mentioned this to Kirsty and James and it is on their "to do list"! The en suite was very good but again shortage of hanging space for towels except over the shower, which seems to be the norm. For just 1 night these are fairly minor problems and certainly didn't spoil our stay. This is a reasonably new venture for Kirsty and James and they have made a real effort to make their guests feel welcome and comfortable. We wish them every success.
Something we didn't think to mention was just 2 double sockets in the room, one at the side of the bed and one behind an armchair.
