The location is perfect if you are taking the train. You walk out the front of the station and hotel entrance is about 100 feet in front of you! It’s a short 10 minute walk to the city center where the tourist info is located. Good, full English breakfast! Also they have this wonderful deal where if you choose not to have your room serviced on a daily basis, they give you a voucher for a free drink in their bar! Also, there are many restaurants/takeaways within a 5-10 minute walk.
The only downside of this location is that it is near the local bar scene, so there was some late night noise from young drunks. Annoying, but you can call the desk and they will sort it out for you.

For an old establishment, the whole building had an air of freshness and cleanliness to it. When asked, the staff did say it had had a paint makeover which did work. The room was fine and the bed very comfy. Although it was a cold weekend, the room temperature was nice. The bathroom was a bit dated but the shower worked well and the place was clean. Staff were friendly and helpful and we were told we had left something in the room on a few minutes after we had left so hadn’t travelled too far to enable us to return. The idea of a drink in lieu of laundry change was a novel idea which we enjoyed.
For weekend parking we found out it was cheaper to pay the £5 per 24 hours in the station car park rather than the £12 charged by the hotel. There was a lot of empty fast food cartons on or around the entrance later at night as we returned. It appears that people congregate around the entrance to eat their takeaways whilst not actually entering the hotel.

The location is great long train journey so brilliant that the hotel is next door very close to restaurants in town as no evening meal at hotel.Staff at reception were very helpful nothing was to much trouble. Cleanliness could not be faulted.
Radiator in the bedroom wouldn't switch off so the first night was a bit uncomfortable 😬, however maintenance fixed the problem the next morning..Housekeeping could have changed or washed the tea cups.,however reception gave us some clean mugs, apparently housekeeping will only come in if requested. Platform announcements started at 5am.Lift broke down which was a little inconvenient but some things can't be helped.

We arrived early and expected to leave our cases but our rooms were ready and we got the keys right away. All the staff were polite and friendly especially Nathan. We attended the Christmas party night which was really well organised and turned out a great night. We travelled down by train and the hotel could not be in a better location.
The only thing we didn't like was the fact that there are quite a few pubs in the next street and they tended to sort out their bottle bins early in the morning. However the hotel can't do anything about that and it didn't spoil our trip

The hotel had a modern rustic feel about it, both olde worlde and current. Lovely building and well-appointed interior. Fridge in the bedroom, spacious bathroom en-suite and a comfortable bed. The bar was well stocked for those who like a range of drinks to choose from, small but not too small and ideal for a tête à tête with friends. Breakfast was very good. Cooked or Continental, or both with fantastic coffee in a spacious, light room on the south side of the hotel’s ground floor. Staff service was always efficient and timely.
Didn’t see any low alcohol nor botanicals options in the bar, not obvious but was only in the mood for some orange and lemonade in any case. Being a person of increasing girth, I was not able to obtain a bedroom easy chair to suit my behind.

Located right next to the train station so perfect for our needs Very good breakfast and staff were very helpful and friendly
The room was tired with a musty odour as we arrived in it and to let air in eventually we had to jam open the very heavy sash window with our empty wine bottle as there was no other means of keeping it open even a tiny bit .. the bath was quite ancient and extremely slippy .. there was a bath mat provided but this proved useless as the old fashioned bath sides were just too “steep” to safely keep the mat in place .. the hand soap dispenser was too high up the wall above the vanity mirror making in nigh on impossible to get your soap safely either!

The rooms were very comfortable and clean. The staff really went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and welcome. They helped us carry some of the more clunky items, remembered and inquired after the activities we were undertaking, gave us a different brand of tea than the ones they usually stock rooms with free of charge even though we offered to pay surplus if there was one. The location was absolutely perfect, next to the station but never had any problems with noise, as Carlisle isn't too busy. Everything in Carlisle you'd want to visit was still within walking distance, taxi bay was in front of the hotel. The bathrooms looked a little dated but were clean and perfectly functional. The bar was well stocked and offered loads of variety. They were refurbishing part of the lounge as we were staying there (never inconvenienced us though), so it'll only get better.
The toilet had a very particular way of flushing, which took some getting used to. Would've liked some fresh veggies or fruit on the breakfast buffet as there was only a bowl of fruit cocktail. I missed some savoury sandwich options, so I'd suggest maybe adding some slices of cheese or cold cuts for toast lovers out there. The warm options we're lovely though, great hashbrowns.

The bathroom towel rail never did get hot. The helpful young woman on reception had to turn on the radiator as no heat in the room. The soap container by the sink was a little too high and awkward to get the soap out to wash hands. There was an oversight in taking away a full waste bin beneath the desk, food containers and plastic bottles, but no real drama as once discovered your helpful (very helpful) receptionist took away the rubbish. Overall I was quite happy with my room. I shall be staying with you again, if you will have me. For older people a steadying handrail would have been useful for standing in the shower as the bath was quite narrow and right against the wall, to that particular bathroom.
The building is an old building which I can appreciate, overall there was nothing to complain about. The areas downstairs do have some beautiful ceilings and it was good to see that the building is being upgraded and looked after. There was nothing that I really didn’t like.

Good location clean and tidy ( they were painting when we were there but no disruption at all very professionally done) rooms a good size with all you want from a hotel stay all in all a good stay, breakfast could have been a little better lots of food a bit rubbery with being under hot plates for a while, husband wasn't pleased with gluten free cornflakes being his only option as he likes his cornflakes but no ordinary option apart from that good selection of breakfast items
Car parking charge of £12 per day far too expensive when you can park elsewhere in Carlisle overnight for about £6 do not think there is any need or justification for parking to be that expensive it wasn't even a locked car park or any type of CCTV there although we did use it as we had not researched beforehand

Convenient location for trying a night out in Carlisle, night life wasn't great sadly and didn't have much choice for what we like to do. That aside, the hotel was perfect for our needs for an overnight stay due to public transport not being that accessible past midnight. Lovely lady on reception name began with an N we arrived at 21:00 she was very welcoming and friendly and informed us check out time and where we were staying. The hotel was clean and very well looked after, we didn't hear any noise or have any trouble with any drunkards inside the hotel or outside the entrance, as it's located near botchergate we thought this would be an issue but we slept through with 0 disturbances. The bathroom had toilet roll, washing supplies, tea and coffee satchets complete with mini kettle, we didn't use it, but it was well presented and clean on looking. Bed was a very spacious double that looked very fancy and offered comfort, and the room was much larger than we expected. A tv was also in the room.
There was nothing we didn't like, for an overnight stay, it was perfect.
