The location of this hotel, on supremely romantic lake Geneva (lac leman), is stunning. The road between the hotel (it is one of several hotels lined up opposite the port) and the lake is rather busy, though, even in November. But once you have crossed the road and walked along the lake shore, staring down at the perfectly limpid lake water and up at the French mountains rising dramatically above a line of mist, the traffic is forgotten. Our room, booked as a "budget twin", was very comfortable. The beds were fine, as was the shower room, and there was plenty of storage space for our clothes (we stayed four nights). The view from our room was non-existent (presumably why it was a "budget" room, as everything else about it was excellent). We looked out onto the backs of other buildings, but we didn't care. The real appeal of the hotel, though, was in the restaurant. The food was very good, although unexceptional, and the traditional type we like best. We ate there every night, and loved the atmosphere, which was friendly and informal while maintaining high standards. At the weekend it felt like a big, happy party. We (two 70-ish ladies) spent ages chatting to an older woman from Lyon, who said she visited quite often. We both said we hoped we could do the same, and meet again quite soon.

Nothing to dislike. Traffic in the summer might be heavy, but not while we were there.

The Hotel du Port is a well established, professionally run, medium to small hotel, attached to an excellent restaurant that is well frequented by local inhabitants, serving well cooked and presented traditional regional Swiss dishes. The hotel is situated across from the port of Ouchy, from which venerable paddle steamers take tourists on tours around Lac Leman, or across the lake to France, at regular frequent intervals. The hotel is also easily accessible via road and mainline rail connection that takes one directly into Geneva airport and/or main shopping areas of the major Swiss cities.

I would like to convey my heartfelt thank you to everyone at this wonderful hotel. I have stayed here before and was more than pleased to discover it had lost none of it's charm and cleanliness. The view from my room overlooking the Lake is a spectacular sight. The breakfast was very substantial and appetising. Thanks to the cleaning and restaurant staff for making my stay a real pleasure. Lastly I'd like to give my expression of full gratitude and appreciation to the lovely Veronique ( apologies if I've made a mistake with your name ) who was so delightful and welcoming. I shall be returning next year and will have learned a some French as promised. Le remerciement Veronique.

There's only one downside and that is I had to leave. I truly cannot think of one moment during my stay that would be a negative. Everyone should be so proud of their achievement in making the hotel a beautiful experience.

Hotel du Port is located right on the lakefront and is a very nice hotel. Rooms are simple but good-sized, and if you have a front facing room they have a great view. Breakfast is good—a classic European breakfast with the addition of really nice cut fruit. Staff are friendly and helpful. The hotel is close to the Metro so it’s easy to navigate the city if you don’t want to walk.

The only negative I can say is that the pillows are really terrible. I’m not even picky about pillows but these were very lumpy!

We encountered one extremely rude waiter, we were having lunch and had not checked into our room since we were early. The waiter was a balding overweight man that did not come back to check in on us during the meal another employee took care of our bill. I got up and was walking into the lobby and he came screaming at me accusing me of not paying. I did not understand what he was saying due to the language barrier. It was extremely uncomfortable, if I was trying to get away without paying I think I would have been leaving the hotel not going into it. I did eat breakfast there the next 3 mornings and enjoyed it and all the rest of the staff were professional and awesome. We were there on July 7th

Glad that we chose to stay close to Lake Geneva .. its lovely to get up for the view of lake and mountains. Again a hotel that has all the 3 Cs .. Cosy Clean and comfortable and to add to this Convenient to both the metro and to the ferries. Its a family run hotel and glad to have met one of the 3rd generation owners at check in. Very helpful with advice on what to do and where to go. Although we had two nights booked to stay at Hotel Du Port, we only had one full day at Lausanne. We took the advice and had a fruitful ONE day n Lausanne. Meals : when at Lausanne, MUST eat at the Restaurant hotel Du Port that serves french cuisine. This Restaurant is just next to the reception. We had a sumptous superb meal with top notch service. Also got to enjoy local wine from the Swiss region. If we had more time, we would be back for more meals at this restaurant. We could tell that the other diners were regulars as the restaurant's long time F&B staff knows the diners. We asked for hot water for our thermos flask, the hotel readily loaned us a electric kettle for use. Grateful!

I stayed here here some 15 years ago on a work trip and although think it was even nicer then, this hotel is still a good place to stay, all rooms evidently facing Lake Geneva so beautiful views of the Alps. The hotel breakfast is decent and they also provide a free 24 hour transport pass which is useful for getting around on the bus and most importantly enables one to use the nearby funicular railway which goes up the steep hill to the central station and beyond

Traffic outside can be busy so leaving the window shut is advisable, that said not a major issue in the whole scheme of things

Location is great. Minutes from boats, restaurants, and Metro uphill (to the train station). Our room was spotless. Bed very comfortable and the room was spacious, with views of the lake.

It was noisy, often late at night. Because the temperature was warm, even in late October, we kept a window open for sleeping. But cars and motorcycles revved a lot on the street. Fortunately we brought along a white noise machine.

It’s the 2nd time I stay at this hotel. The location is fabulous. 3 minute walk to the Metro which whisks you up into town. Right across from the Ouchy Port and Lac Leman waterfront which is vibrant, colourful and very pretty. 5 minute walk to the port area where the boat tours are. Pharmacy and Coop also very close. Lots of restaurants around, although a bit pricey due to their location. Hotel gives you the Lausanne card which allows you free public transit within city zones, as well as a discount to the Olympic Museum (walking distance), among other places. Rooms/bathrooms are spacious and very clean. Lovely varied breakfast buffet with specialty coffee made for you. Gluten free options available. At 15CHF/per person/per day, it’s a bit steep but we were willing to pay for the convenience of having it close, so we could eat and leave for the day. Would stay here again.

Not an issue for us, but no AC as per many of the older hotels in Europe. Fan available in the room and we kept the windows open. We also had a room with a Lake view- that being said, the 2 restaurants below, and the waterfront area are busy until about 10:30pm. In the morning, you get a beautiful view of the lake but it starts to get busy outside by 7 with people going to work. So if you like to sleep in late, request a room on the other side of the hotel. We are early risers so a non-issue for us.

My colleague and I arrived on bicycles, having cycled from Geneva, and were made to feel most welcome by the receptionist. We were allocated our twin bed room, which was perfect for our one night stay, and our bikes were accommodated securely in a small conference room. Excellent!! Hotel staff were extremely helpful, lovely bar/restaurant and we felt comfortable throughout our stay. Would thoroughly recommend. Also good beer - Grimbergen!!
