Bed firm but concave laying on it at night. Soft pillows, no support Pool and Spa outside and side of hotel (we didn't use it. looked decently clean. But the question is how often it is clean since people definitely use them.)

Conveniently located right off of the 80 and close to Truckee west area, this lodge is a great alternative to Airbnbs for small families. It was clean, comfortable, and good value. The complimentary breakfast was nice. I especially liked the salty options (alternating days of omelette vs scrambled eggs and sausages vs bacon) and the touchless pancake maker. In the future, if we can't get together with another family to share an Airbnb, we would stay here again for ski trips.

This was our first stay at this location and on the whole, it was mostly a good experience. The location itself is central and very convenient. The place seemed clean and the facilities were generally pretty nice. Breakfast can get a little crowded, so you may want to get there early to grab a table. The breakfast offerings themselves were your fairly classic fair for an American continental breakfast, though I really liked the nifty little pancake maker machine.

Our single most significant issue with place, and sadly, one that may cause us to think twice before coming back, was the dryness of the air in the rooms. I'm not sure what causes this, whether it's the all-carpeted floor, the heating units or what else, but we did not have very good sleep during our stay. We would wake up several times at night with a very dry mouth and throat. Maybe it's us (both me and my wife), but I don't remember having this issue at other places we stayed at in this region on our previous visits. Certainly, we might consider having to bring or borrow a small humidifier on a future visit.

Staff was friendly and quick to resolve our plumbing issue. Facility was quiet and clean. Loved having access to the 24 hr coffee/cocoa machine.

The only thing that bothered me was watching an unaccompanied child pick up unpackaged food from the breakfast bar and put it back for it to be picked up by someone else. I don’t know if there is anything that the hotel could’ve done to prevent it from happening, but maybe a sign or request in the future.

Love love love our stay here! Room was large and modern and so clean. The lobby and breakfast area are so inviting and sleek. Close to area restaurants and outside activities.

Our window faced another structure which was quite close so our window shades had to be kept drawn. The hotel is tricky to find as it is partially hidden by a gas station/ car wash ( noise). The signage is poor— just one sign with an “E” which we missed in several passes.

We were a family of 4 and the hotel room wth two double beds was great The decor all over the lodge was quaint. The rooms clean and cosy The staff were kind; didn't interact unless you wanted/needed them too. The breakfast that was included rotated btwn scrambled eggs and sausage vs. Cheesy Omelette + bacon. Plus of course fruits (apples & oranges), breads, bagels, English muffins, yogurt, cereal, oatmeal packages for self serve. The automatic pancake machine was very cool. And the 24 hr coffee, tea, hot chocolate machine and Water refilling station/fountain in the lobby were all nice touches. There was a window ice scraper and shovels left near the reception desk for guests to use, which we appreciated since we arrived to Truckee just in time to experience some heavy snow. Truckee Donner Lodge was perfect for our ski holiday at Palisades Tahoe. We booked 5 nights but ended up checking out a day early bc we realized 3 days of skiing was enough, so we lost our money for the 5th/last night stay. But that was clearly stated in the booking.com policy so we accepted that.

Lack of variety in breakfast fruits and hot foods Disposable Paper plates, plastic utensils and cups but understandable given food service is all self serve.

The room was very comfortable.

It was an unexpected stop over Labor Day weekend, so prices were much higher than normal. There was nothing within walking distance. Parking was limited. The freeway is within sight, so there is a lot of traffic noise.

Close to Tahoe Donner ski slopes and Truckee downtown and the restaurants. I think this hotel is underrated. It had all that we could ask for and was a bit cheaper than other options around here. Wifi was good, breakfast is the standard basic fare but works for us.

Towels has the smell of sunscreen and the bed also had a moldy smell. I was starting to sneeze by the morning. If the hotel staff is reading this, please clean the beds and towels better. My stay was excellent except for this issue. General cleanliness of the hotel was good other than this.

very close to the mountain resorts, got extra pillows and blankets no problem, lady that handled breakfast was very nice.

pancake maker always had problems, and last few days wasn’t working at all

The breakfast provided was great. Location was wonderful for my kids to enjoy a local bike ride ! And so convenient and easy to find off the freeway. Easy parking as well.

It’s too bad the pool and hot tub weren’t open. Other than that, our stay was superb! Not much bad to say at all.
