We had a fab stay here during Dia de Los Muertos! Lovely, helpful staff and excellent, prompt communication, especially when we had to advise them that our arrival was delayed. We really appreciated as well how they sent us the list of events prior to our arrival. We had a very comfortable and clean room, there is a roof terrace, a beautiful courtyard to have breakfast in, and the breakfasts were absolutely superb - the ladies are very talented chefs and the table was beautifully set. (We had to leave for the airport at 4.00am on our last day and so missed breakfast but they very kindly supplied us with a packed breakfast). The location is brilliant, a short, easy walk to the centre / plaza mayor etc. but far enough away that you can escape the noise of the festivities if you need a break / to sleep. There was a fridge in which my partner could store his insulin.

This is a great place! Location is perfect, close to everything without the noise of the center. Extremely warm welcome, nothing is missing. Loved the common table in the center of the courtyard for breakfast and the opened kitchen that you can use at any moment. There is a nice terrace upstairs to chill. There is even a small boutique for last minute - and quality - handicraft shopping.

Nothing, really... Except maybe that if you pay tribute to Joseph Cayetty in the bathroom, you should as well pay tribute to Mary Beatrice Davidson Kenner... Just saying... :)

Loved the Oaxacan homely vibe. The locals who live there tell me it is the best in town, The staff are absolutely fabulous. Shout out to Carolina. It is muy tranquilo ahi. Spacious, traditional and very delicious breakfasts. They were wonderful. The staff went out of their way to recommend tours, places to eat and organised transfers for me - essential for a late night pickup.

The only thing might be the water situation - it is in a shortage - but this is to be expected when travelling in Mexico.

The best part of staying here was the breakfast provided. As a solo traveller, it was nice to have the central open air dining area to come to in the morning and have the option to meet others staying at the B&B during breakfast. Location was also very good and walking distance to main areas in Oaxaca City. Liked the extra touch of providing a hat and a local reusable bag in each room.

I stayed at the Estrella room which faces the road. For light sleepers, it is noisy during the night from street traffic. I would stay here again but i’d book one of the other rooms for that reason.

Beautiful, traditional B&B just a few blocks away from the main city square. There is a security gate to enter, so it felt very safe too. Loved the artistic touches and decorations of the common space and the room. Our room was spacious and clean with a private bathroom. Breakfast was served in the courtyard, and consisted of coffee, Delicious fresh orange juice and fruit, plus a light main dish such as fried eggs and vegetables. The staff we met were friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend El Diablo y la Sandia as a base when visiting the beautiful city of Oaxaca.

The shower pressure was a little weak, and it took a while for the water to heat up in the morning. But I liked how environmentally conscious they are, by asking you to collect the cold water in a bucket so that it can be used for cleaning purposes, thus saving water in an area that experiences a long dry season and water shortages.

Very cute and comfortable! We were enticed to stay here by all the reviews of delicious hot breakfast, and it did not disappoint! Great location, off the busy streets, but still walkable to everywhere in Oaxaca. The staff were very helpful, giving us extra purified water, giving us info about where to go, calling a taxi for the airport, etc.

Only minor downside is that there is no air-conditioning. There was a tower fan in our room, but it could still get a bit hot (we visited in July)

amazing breakfast, super friendly and helpful staff, and fun decor. also, friendly travelers in other rooms. good WiFi- was able to work remotely for 5 days with only one crash.

water pressure could be higher- but this is an issue throughout Mexico.

I love the exterior courtyard and our bathroom with its three-story skylit ceiling and the shower’s rock floor that massages your feet. The bed is extremely comfy! But it’s the staff who really set this property aside. They each have superpowers!

Just know the Boca del Monte property is tucked in a callejón (alley) a 15-minute UPHILL walk from the zocalo. Not all taxis are aware of the place since they can’t drive on the callejón. It shows up fine on Google Maps.

Cute place, tastefully decorated. Friendly staff, excellent variety of delicious breakfasts. Staff was very helpful arranging tours and adjusting to earlier breakfast if necessary. Close to center of town surrounded by stores and restaurants.

We loved the decor and the beautiful terrace and rooms. We appreciated the intimacy and enjoyed chatting with other guests at breakfast. The location was easy to walk from and it felt safe. The staff was very helpful and kind. We would definitely recommend it!

It did get hot at night, but it eventually cooled off.
