Really surprised at the quality of the room as I was expecting a basic ‘room above a pub’, not that I mind that! The bed was super comfy, and we really appreciated the complimentary drinks snacks and toiletries. The room was large, clean and had everything we wanted. The bathroom was a little tired but clean and functional. Breakfast was lovely, although the buffet was under stocked and appeared to run out of fruit and pastries. On the whole though we had a great experience thank you. We also had buffet food for an event the previous evening which was good quality and tasty.

A little tired in places, lack of breakfast buffet, but didn’t detract from a good experience overall

Fact that it was close to Portsmouth port and motorways. Lovely atmosphere in the pub, the staff were very friendly and helpful. Everywhere was very clean, good size room, comfortable bed, having a bath as well as a shower and the attention to detail, welcome basket with a drink and crisps. Having a small fridge in the room, with some fresh milk and bottled water.

Only a couple of minor things, there wasn’t a plug for the bath. The cooked breakfast wasn’t as good as we’d hoped the bacon very hard and dry and the fried egg yolks were hard despite asking for runny eggs. There were quite a few people having breakfast and only 1 waitress to cover everything.

We booked a room at The Hampshire Hog as we had a function nearby. Check-in was smooth, and we were made to feel very welcome. Our room was very spacious and incredibly quiet. The hospitality tray was a lovely bonus . Little things like fresh milk in the fridge and decent sized mugs for drinks made all the difference. Breakfast was delicious, with plenty of options. What makes the Hampshire Hog stand out is the friendliness of all the staff, from the bar staff to the housekeeping team- they are a real asset.

The shower was lovely and hot and powerful, but the bathroom was a little tired and could do with a bit of attention.

We arrived early, and wanted to park at the pub to go for a walk from there. As there was a room ready the staff helped us check in early, which gave a good impression of how helpful and relaxed it was. Ask about the shortcut to Queen Elizabeth Park; the main road is an easy walk, but I liked having a circular route starting and finishing at the pub.

They kept suggesting we check-in or pay online, but it didn't work (maybe user error), and was much more quickly done at reception.

Brilliant spacious room with a proper fridge, pleasing range of complementaries, proper milk and tea and coffee making facilities. Very nice traditional inn - wish we d had time to try an evening meal. Allo staff were friendly and the breakfast was excellent, with plenty of choice. Loved the coconut yoghurt.. Parking was good and there's a rapid charger

Nothing to dislike. Only thing might make even better would be softer pillows. Didn't give highest mark for value, because have noticed if was to book again for next June, say, would get a much better rate. Booking.com?

Exceptional customer service from check in to check out ! Loved the welcome tray and the cider was very welcome after a long journey. Absolutey delicious food and good selection on the menu, compliments to the Chef. Friendly staff, great service throughout our stay. Special mention to our server (was Alison or Angela, apologise can't remember your name) she was absolutely fabulous. Very clean room with one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in ! Close to Queen Elizabeth Country Parkrun if you're collecting a "Q"

The bathroom perhaps needed an update but was clean

Room was very spacious and a decent size shower. The restaurant was very good, excellent local food, the breakfasts in particular were fantastic. All the staff were very friendly and approachable which made our stay even more special.

Not the most comfortable of beds (a bit too squidgy for our liking), but that is par for the course with nearly everywhere you stay. The only real negative was the glazed double bathroom doors which open out to one side of the bed which meant in the middle of the night when one of us got up to use the bathroom the lights blazed through the glass and across the bed waking the other one up!

Room large, bed comfortable and lots of free extras in the form of real coffee, cider, milk etc. The food (we had a sunday lunch) was very good though the desserts were not that exciting (dairy ice cream option would have been nice)

We were put in a disabled 'wet room' despite not needing one. There did seem to be other options, and probably not a good practice to do this in case disabled visitors do turn up. Many of the small lights in our room didn't work - no toilet paper either. Was supplied quickly but puting it in the room rather than bringing it to our dining table would have been a better look! On balance, the place is still very good but perhaps with a little more attention to detail.

Very friendly, welcoming and helpful staff, nothing was too much trouble. Lovely atmosphere. Lots of little extras such as a welcome basket of goodies in the room, fresh water and milk in the fridge. Fresh flowers on dining tables. The breakfast menu was excellent and cooked to order. The bed was comfy and had lovely clean linen. We had an excellent night's sleep. The car park was right next to the hotel reception so we felt that the car was secure. The hotel was easy to find and we were very happy with our stay.

Excellent location for our trip to the comedy all stars and we had 3 rooms booked for our family… all lovely, clean, comfortable and so quiet!! Best night’s sleep for a long time…. Also booked an evening meal, which was delicious for everyone, their own made pies and venison faggots were exceptionally tasty!! Breakfast was fantastic too, eggs Benedict with gorgeous crispy smoked bacon to order, lots of choice both on the cooked to order menu and help yourself buffet too!! Well done and thank you to all the lovely staff…. Liked the large bell in reception too but only rang it gently as the rugby was on in the bar!!!!!

Only staying the one night, fancied the chicken pie, a further excellent sleep and another of the delicious breakfasts…..
