The location was perfect opposite the breathtaking cliffs overlooking the gorgeous sandy beach. Every member of staff I met were friendly, professional and helpful. I was visiting for my father's funeral and the kindness I received from staff was gratefully received. I had dinner both evenings and the quality was exceptional. The cooked breakfast was also lovely. Piping hot food and very tasty as well as fantastic value with the 20% guest discount. The room was small but perfectly adequate for my needs and clean and tidy. The bathroom although small had a powerful shower which was lovely. Comfortable single bed and toasty warm.

It was a little bit of a struggle navigating the steep staircase but not enough to deter me from staying again but wouldn't be suitable for somebody with mobility issues. It was also quite noisy at night with people outside below my bedroom window but this may have been pub visitors and I would expect noise when staying in a pub. Or it may have been staff disposing of rubbish very loudly. However it didn't last long and didn't cause me too much inconvenience.

I always have a friendly efficient welcome. Staff are excellent. Food is excellent and served quickly eventhough the restaurant is always quite busy. The rooms are spotlessly clean and always smell very fresh. Dogs welcome is so nice and I've never ever found a single dog hair anywhere. I really welcomed my sea view, what a delight.

My shower took a while for me to work out the hot water control and there was a bit of rust on the shower due to it's age which is a shame but worked well. There was no hair conditioner which was disappointing. The windows are old but not blown. The property is quite old and therefore I was expecting these things I have mentioned which does not affect the overall stay and everything has been used to the very best advantage.

Absolutely lovely hotel, really impressed with the rooms and the space (needed when you have a toddler with you!), the soap and shower gel provided were lovely, the bed was comfy, view was great (we got a Seaview but unsure if others do), breakfast had a great variety and you could of course get lunch/dinner during the day (very handy if you arrive around dinner time!) Also, literally across the road is the path to head down the cliff to the beach, and it is a beautiful sandy beach, and we had perfect sunny weather! (For those not wanting to climb back up, there is a lift service 3-5min walk along the front to take you up and down, but you do have to pay for it!)

Only 2 mini downsides, it's a smallish staircase (spiral type) to get up with a large suitcase (I recommend a small hand luggage size one instead, but we packed for everyone in one big one) and although it is great they offer it, there is live music on a Friday night, which did sound good, but hard to get a toddler to sleep when you can hear it (didn't hear anything the previous night, as there was no live music, and only the odd person talking in the beer garden)

The building is a fantastic 'pub with rooms' and it seems to be a real hub for the local community. The room was up in the roof but spacious and the bed was super comfy. USB sockets with the power sockets was a useful bonus. The food was real tasty pub grub - I had scampi and chips the first night and beef bourguignon the second, both delicious. Large beer and wine selection, and the place was buzzing both the nights I was there - but my room was two floors up and the sound did not travel, so two peaceful nights. But best of all was the staff, so friendly, cheery and helpful! They really made the place and I suspect that's why the pub is so popular. I'll be back!

I am fully abled, but I didn't see any lifts and the stairs are quite steep, as befits a vintage pub building of this sort. That's just the way it is.

Location was stunning, having the facilities to just go downstairs and get food was also a bonus.

Some sort of air freshener had been used in the room, I understand they are trying to make it smell nice but the smell wasn’t pleasant, might just be me. On the Friday night a live band was playing, again might have been me for not realising but I was trying to sleep for an important event the next day, if I had of known I don’t think i would have booked to stay, again not a negative but it wasn’t made obvious when booking that the venue had live bands.

The staff were phenomenal!!! The lady manager was lovely she was so welcoming let us store our buggy under her stairs and made us so welcome, then her husband came to our room and was so genuine he gave my little boy an Easter egg and its all I've heard about since !! We had an evening meal at the pub and breakfast and it was absolutely delicious All bar and restaurant staff were friendly and very attentive !! Didn't even judge my weirs boy for having mayonnaise on his breakfast haha !! We will 100% be back thank you so so much xxx

Nothing ! On our stay there was 60 mph winds so our vents were quite noisy but the staff were quick to resolve this for us ! Honestly couldn't fault anything ..

The winning ingredient here is Jo and the staff, all very warm and friendly. Food was good and lovely atmosphere of a proper British pub. We stayed over New Year meeting up as a family and had a great time, and if I'd known there was regular roster of evening entertainers and singers we'd have booked some extra days.

Certainly recommended for walkers and dog owners wanting to walk the bracing coastline and beaches. We had a great stay here over the New Year but for a family with young kids I'd suggest elsewhere as the property proudly welcomes dogs and dog owners and at mealtimes it felt a bit overwhelming for us personally with so many animals around.

The room was a good size, the bed was very comfortable to sleep in and the pillows were nice too!! We could see the sea from our window as well! The bathroom was good, with walk-in shower, big sink and was a good size compared to others we've stayed in! The food served is delicious and we even had dinner there as well as the breakfast!

The only thing we didn't like was it was a bit noisy and very busy, but we did go in the week before Christmas so only to be expected!!

Didn't have breakfast.I was in a small single room.Very comfy bed.First night cost £55 including my dog.Second night was a whopping £90 and definitely not worth that.Am staying in a four star Spa Hotel in Preston and that costing only £10 more

Price of second night. Could have had some meals at dinner that were not burgers or fish in batter, chips, chips, chips.A simple salmon served with veg or salad would have been great..I had fish cake and I swear I never saw any salmon

The location is great, the staff are super friendly and welcoming. The beach is literally across the road, although be prepared for the uphillclimb, and public transport is on the doorstep, with a day pass costing £5.10 pp. Lots to see and do. Would highly recommend the Spyglass and kettle and wouldn't hesitate to use it again. Many thanks for your hospitality.

Car parking is a bit of a squeeze but plenty of space on the street.
