Very clean, nice staff, dorm rooms looked clean too (we had a private). Deck overlooked the moat. Everything's walking distance. Pretty good price. AC was strong. Huge room, nice to have a little desk area.

Shower wasn't super clean and the drain was clogged so the water started to fill up. No towel given since we booked online, which is weird. Noise coming in from road but it wasn't terrible, just engine sounds.

The dormitories are bright and spacious and it’s nice to have a desk with a mirror as well as a hairdryer in every room. The beds are large, comfortable and spacious enough that you don’t feel claustrophobic at all. The bathroom’s big and always kept clean as well as the communal areas. Location was perfect to easily get around Chiang Mai with lots of nice restaurants and cafes nearby. A special mention to the two ladies who work there (I’m so sorry I can’t spell your names!!🙏🏻): they were lovely from the beginning, but on my last day I got quite unwell and they took such great care of me, even drove me to the hospital and checked on me later on, for which I am very grateful! I stayed in different hostels and hotels in Chiang Mai but I would definitely come back here if I ever find myself in Chiang Mai again!

Perhaps a shower curtain could help avoid the bathroom getting quite messy if you’re not careful when showering!

An exceptional hostel with a cafe serving outstanding coffee as an added bonus. Staff are lovely, and the curtained “pods” really comfortable and providing a degree of privacy not often found in hostels.

Only room for improvement would be the shower room which was a little small, and had no shelf on which to rest your toiletries bag, and too few hooks for clothes and your towel.

The owners are super friendly, very comfortable beds, clean, perfect location in old town to visit the different temples, night markets, & cafes; very quiet at night, warm showers, great wifi :) I ended up extending my stay here since I liked it so much!

There isn’t any wet/dry separation in the dorm bathroom so if someone showers and they aren’t careful, the entire bathroom floor and toilet get wet

I loved my stay at Shapel Hostel so much that I returned a second time for a 3 week stay. I have never felt so comfortable and relaxed at a hostel and I've been travelling around Thailand for 3 months. This is a testament to the owners (Capella and Priscilla) and their team. They are truly so kind and helpful. They always went above and beyond my expectations resulting in me having the most incredible time and experience in Chiang Mai. They collected me from the airport when my late night flight was delayed to giving me tips and suggestions for things to do and vegan restaurants to visit. This boutique hostel is a new venture for the sisters and the building has recently been renovated. The attention to detail by the sisters ensures you have everything you need in a hostel, from the facilities available to the design and layout of the rooms. This also has to be one of the cleanest hostels I've stayed in. I wish Capella and Priscilla all the best with this beautiful little hostel and cafe in central Chiang Mai and I look forward to staying here again when I return back to Thailand.

My partner and I are backpacking and we loved this hostel. We stayed in the private room, which was spacious, clean, modern and really comfortable. The bathroom is separate, however not many people us it so it almost feels as if it’s your own. There is also a washing machine which only costs 30 baht and a drying rack in the bathroom. The TV has Netflix on it which is a bonus, especially when you want to chill. There is also a lovely little balcony attached where we would drink coffee from downstairs on. The owners are absolutely lovely and try their best to make you happy and comfortable. We liked it so much that we extended and would 100% stay again if there was space!

Nothing, it was perfect! - we wish we had booked for longer.

The property was very clean and had a good shower. Furthermore the property has a cafe on the ground floor which I used everyday, I would visit this cafe even if I was not a guest as it is excellent value for money and great quality!

I honestly can not think of an area for improvement! The staff were very helpful and you really do get a great deal in comparison to how much you spend.

Great location on the edge of old town, amazing hosts who run a brilliant, well priced coffee shop! Nice chilled vibe, and the hosts speak English which was helpful for us. The hostel includes a washing machine for 30 baht per use, and a drying rack. We stayed in the private room which was lovely, it had a balcony with a nice view over the river and a tv with Netflix :)

Nothing, it was the ideal hostel

The hostel is very new and perfectly clean. Really comfortable beds and enough space. The lockers are big enough for my big backpack. The staff and little coffee place downstairs are the best. Grab a coffee on your way to explore Chiang Mai. It had a very chill and peaceful vibe to it.

everything was great
