Loved the location, and the staff were just fabulous! The room was clean and super comfortable. I extended my stay for a week because the dorm mattresses were really comfy and dark. The bar was hit or miss depending on who was there, but I definitely recommend this place. For those who have to work, there are plenty of empty cafes nearby.

Not much! The social scene was pretty quiet, but I also didn't put in too much effort.

The bathrooms were huge and there was a fan to help it cool down which was great! The beds were okay but spacious but Bo at reception was amazing when you were looking to book activities! Very social hostel too

Very noisy especially on friday/saturday nights. Music was meant to stop at 11/11:30 but kept going until 12:30/1, so i wouldn’t recommend if you are looking for a quiet hostel

The location is great and at nights there is always a lot of people so very easy to socialize. Double bed options are nice also.

Showers had a bad smell in them. Also, there is very little chill places, only chairs and one bean bag in an upstairs corner somewhere. Not a big problem but it makes it not a place to hang out and relax during the day.

Sylvis is a really good place for solo travellers, the staff speak great english and can assist you with booking day tours/cooking classes. The lobby on the ground floor is a great place to meet new people, hang out or have a drink. The location is also walking distance from many great eateries and night clubs. The room is comfortable and value for money. The travllers in my dorm were extremely considerate and did not make much noise late at night or early in the morning.

The lighting in the dorm beds is not very good but still manageable. The bar downstairs can get rather noisy until midnight so if you have to get up early the next day I would suggest you bring some earplugs.

Can’t speak highly enough of this hostel. Rooms very modern and clean. Met so many other solo travellers here so perfect if you’re on your own. Very good in the evenings. Great location. Bo who’s works there could not of been anymore helpful. And you have to do the full day trip to elephant land. ( providing you don’t mind trekking with the elephants through the jungle for two hours). If I go back to chiang mai I’m most definitely staying here.

The bathrooms were very clean and shower pressure was amazing. The dorm room itself was comfortable And the AC let you beat the heat.

The beds were rocks and the pillows were flat. It was as if you were sleeping on cardboard. It's also to be noted that the hostel has an open bar that tends to Blair music from 6 to 12-12:15. So if your trying to get sleep between these times. I would have a nice pair of earplugs.

great location and very comfortable beds. shower room was clean and we felt safe. nice that they give out free water and popcorn

not very social but can just go over to Stamps if you want the atmosphere and chill at Sylvis so you get the best of both worlds. Also workers would come into the rooms everyday at 11am and sometimes would pull back the curtains because they didn’t know who had checked out or not

Great social hostel but not full on party hostel, that's across the road at stamps which you can join in if you wanted. There is music from the bar but that shuts off strictly at 11pm. Bedrooms were really comfortable, beds were private and very clean with lockers in the rooms. Staff were amazing and Bo took a few of us to see Chiang Mai United play which was class. Helpful with booking onward travel and tours.

All it's missing is a pool!

Loved the bar area, and the staff was really friendly and would help you whenever needed. All rooms are 6-10 beds (so no 26 beds). You had a shared gendered bathroom which means you could always use the toilet, shower or brush your teeth.

For a dorm of 10 people they only had 2 keys… (yes for each dorm). This means that all the doors would stay open all the time and anyone could walk in. They also dont have the lockers to make up for it. Every bed does have a locker but they’re pretty small so your backpack wont fit into it. For some you also needed to bring your own lock.

Had an amazing time at Sylvis. It’s been a while and I still think my time was one of the best in Chiang Mai and the hostel helped a lot with that. It was super easy to meet people and they organised a really fun tour. The staff (in particular Bo & Opal) made me feel right at home from the start.
