We booked here last minute & so glad we did. Lovely Lodge, dog friendly (they also provide dog bowls, bed & a chew) - our 12yr old Border Collie loved it here. We were in room 1 - ground floor room which was ideal. Room was spotless & couldn’t fault it. We decided to have an evening meal & we liked the concept that a minute up the road was their sister establishment’The FenceGate Inn’ The pies are beautiful, we ate in the pub bit as we had the dog but there’s a restaurant serving dinner. Then a nice walk back to Fence Gate Lodge. The hotel is a wedding venue too but music is turned off at midnight. We had a comfortable nights sleep. Breakfast was lovely & tasty & a good portion - again they catered well for our doggie & set up a table in a nearby room & brought our dog breakfast too. Thank you to the staff for your hospitality. We enjoyed our stay & will be back!

Stayed in room 24 the Linwood suite which was just superb. Beautiful spacious comfortable and simply divine. Attention to detail wonderful. Staff at the lodge were equally wonderful, breakfast superb as were the staff. The Fence Gate restaurant brassiere we felt the service could have been a tad more friendly and inviting. Food was good but not exceptional. Soufflé was stunning but the chicken burger was dry and mediocre which was a shame. But lovely place just didn't get that same welcoming vibe as you get at the lodge which was a shame. Don't like to be negative as we had a wonderful experience from start to finish, but honest feedback is always good for even further improvement. We would one hundred percent book again and perhaps even treat our staff now and again to a break away. We also recommend a visit to The White Swan whilst you are there. Stunning food and service! Well worth the money!

Fence gate brasserie. Didn't not like it, we just felt the service could have been a tad more friendly and inviting and the chicken burger definitely needs rethinking. Soufflé was superb and was the chocolate cheesecake.

Booked a Junior Suite quite last minute due to a family emergency, and the staff have been amazing from start to finish. Greeted warmly upon arrival, and staff went above and beyond with every question and request, no matter how small. The Lodge itself is beautiful, with a mixture of traditional limestone brickwork, wood, and a touch of modernity such as fitments. This is on top of the amazing views out of every window that I looked out of. The evening food, we weren't able to sample unfortunately, due to our own busy schedule, however, the cooked breakfast in the morning was phenomenal. Perfectly seasoned scrambled eggs, and perfectly cooked bacon. The whole plate was delicious. This is a diamond in Lancashire's crown, and we will be returning. Thank you for having us!

The attention to detail in regards to the property. The reception staff. Very receptive and friendly , I could not fault them. The breakfast again well cooked and came out warm and served on a hot plate.

The bar should be better stocked A better selection on whiskeys. Wines. Limited range. Which should be available in your standard you are endeavouring to achieve.

The room was comfortable, bathroom clean and roomy. Breakfast was very good value and enjoyable , my only criticism is that the eggs were a little over cooked but better that than under cooked I suppose but overall enjoyed our overnight stay and would definitely recommend fence gate lodge and would stay there again. Thank you

Beautifully and stylishly decorated for Christmas. Magical, infact. Incredibly comfy beds, great shower and sophisticated bedrooms. We’ve stayed here a few times and it’s always good

There was only one bedside table in our room, which meant only one light. Proved a little annoying as no where to put drinks/book/ phone etc.

The evening at the hotel was difficult for to the behaviour of some guests. This was quite simply not for the hotel to be judged on. What I can say is that the hotel have been fair without question having explained what happened. It is on Thai basis I provide a good review. The staff were excellent, the hotel beautifully kept and the after care/management excellent.

the room, the bed was very big and very comfy and the bathroom was lovely.

It was very slippy due to snow and ice in the car park and at the entrance. They need to invest in a grit bin in my opinion, it would have been very easy to slip and fall, particularly if we weren't sure on our feet.

The hotel is absolutely stunning, and the room was the most beautiful room I have ever stayed in. The bathroom was clean, spacious, and very modern.

I found some (not all) of the staff quite abrupt. I'm not sure why either - as I have impeccable manners and lots of respect for people. I treat people with a politeness that is rarely seen in this day and age, yet despite being this way it didn't appear enough for the reception staff who seemed blunt, unfriendly and unapproachable. I felt like I was judged and a slight inconvenience, having stayed there for an overnight stay for a family wedding. The staff in the kitchen in the morning were completely different though, and so very friendly and helpful.

Lovely Staff, very good standard of furnishings and decor. Very comfortable bed and spacious bathroom.

Soundproofing could be better, both from the corridor and window. It needs triple glazing for the roadside windows. Bathroom radiator was permanently on and extremely hot, I did report it. Breakfast is served in a small room that was a bit cramped. Didnt realise that the Fence Gate pub was not actually on the same site as the Fence Gate Lodge. Its only 100m away, but probably not ideal in bad weather.
