Nice comfortable apartment
The 4 flights of very dark steep stairs...the 4th was a spiral staircase...No mention of that when I booked...there was also suppose to be AC but had been disconnected and removed....AC is listed in description on Bookings.com..there was also no mention ,that you have to pick keys up from a rentals office, about 2km...and a taxi ride away.

The air conditioning turned out to be a plug in fan, but it done the job I suppose. A lot of steep steps up to apartment, shallow foot room on them made then dangerous.

The inside was really nice and modern. Nice features and a good amount of space for an apartment. The shower was good, not too much hot water though. However it was very nice inside with nice furniture. It was on a popular street and therefore was really accessible to the night life, unless you don’t like hearing music until 2pm on summer nights. The location is good since it’s very close to Chiado and all the popular spots in Lisbon.
The stairs are really challenging, we did read that it was an apartment on the 4th floor and thought it would be fine since we’re young, but carrying up two 20kg bags was very tiring and a challenge. Also, when we booked the apartment they mentioned there would be an aircon, however, that was not the case. Apparently it had broken and our stay in lisbon consisted of 30°C nights and was uncomfortable to sleep in such heat. They said they were going to fix it but through the 6 nights we were there, they did not manage to fix it for us.

- Entrance: up a steep dark staircase - Location: right in the middle of all the night life, so you won’t get any sleep before 4am - Cleaning/ appearance: definitely a lot more run down and not like the pictures. - Not suitable for families

The apartment was clean, there is good wifi and satellite TV. There are two coffee makers. There is also a washing machine, but I don't know if it works. The only advantage of the location is the proximity to the center
Everything else. The owner doesn't have time to talk and doesn't answer questions after handing over the keys to us. The apartment is ABOVE the nightclub. What's more, the windows in the bedroom are not airtight and therefore it is very noisy. It's impossible to sleep in the bedroom. There were no chairs to the table, there was no way to eat a meal at the table. There is no soap or shampoo in the bathroom. There is nothing to wash dishes in the kitchen. A place rather for young people who come back after 2 a.m. and sleep during the day.

The flat was on the 4th floor and there were more than 60 very sharp stairs in the flat which were too difficult for us to go up and down. We were not been told in advance. The main problem was that on the day of arrival the host took a deposit from us for the security and damage and they told us it will be refunded in full after the check-out. Notably, there was no damage to the property, and we even ensured to clean it thoroughly before departure but the host did not refund our deposit. They totally ignored our request. They were not responsive at all even we found out that there is no internet connection in the flat.

The location
We were extremely disappointed with our stay at Bairro Alto Stylish - I genuinely haven't encountered so many issues in a stay, and have travelled perhaps 20 times in the past few years, mostly staying in hostels which were vastly better than this. To begin with, we'd stated a 10-11:59pm check-in slot and arrived to the accommodation at 11:40pm. After numerous WhatsApp messages and calls asking where the check-in staff were, they finally arrived and let us in at 12:20am and tried to make us pay the €50 check-in fee, yet we had arrived well before the €30 cut off time. Upon entering the building, we were met with extremely dangerous, steep stairs which were not described in the booking. Fortunately we're all able-bodied, but we've all really damaged our knees as a result of the climb which we obviously made at least twice daily. The interior was initially okay, however be warned that if you stay in the bedroom itself, you will be kept up until 3am due to the noise coming in from the bars down the street. We had very little sleep over the 5 days and were exhausted by the end. We then woke up to ants all over the worktop the next day, despite having no food in the accommodation for the first couple of days, and so the only food we bought ended up being fridge-stored food. After taking a shower during which we washed our hair, the hairdryer exploded into flames and my friend was lucky to not come away with severe burns. I immediately contacted the host to ask for a new hairdryer who said someone would deliver it to the accommodation that same day. However, this wasn't the case and it took another 24 hours to receive this, meaning we couldn't wash our hair - we're all girls staying here, so you can imagine 3 days unable to wash it. Then, on day 3, my friend had a shower first thing in the morning and the hot water totally went off after a matter of minutes.
