This was our second time in Kyoto after staying in a hotel in another part of town the first time round. We were super excited to be staying in a traditional Japanese house this time round..and it did not disappoint. It was exquisite . There is a view of a temple from the living room window! There is also an external hot foot bath and the bathroom window opens out onto the most serene (tiny but perfect) courtyard . we felt so privileged to be staying in such a special house. The host lady Azuma, was absolutely delightful . She even made us traditional tea to show how it was done. An experience we will not forget....

We loved it all...although it was a bit like living in a museum.

the apartment is beautiful and they have done a great job converting it into a luxury apartment. they asked us if we wanted breakfast delivered and it was a nice typical experience the washer and dryer the outside foot bath

I wish the outdoor shower room was heated the staircase is really steep, maybe a sturdier handrail there was no option for late checkout the host replied always a day late

The house was amazing; the location is perfect right in the middle of a very pretty area, everything accessible on foot. The house itself was very cosy, the japanese bathroom with a view on the miniature garden was just the best experience. Kitchen simple but well-equipped, very comfortable beds and the view from the upstairs living-room on one of the most iconic pagodas of Kyoto. We would definitely stay there again.

Everything was perfect.

Superbly designed, clean and comfortable apartment, we especially loved the foot bath and bath tub, the beds were super comfortable, a/c in every room for the hot summer weather, the location was also excellent, close to the traditional streets - Sannen-zaka and Ninen-zaka a

Nothing! The only thing to mention is that the toilet is downstairs whereas the bedroom is upstairs, but this only matters families travelling with younger children, who may need to go to the bathroom in the night.

Loved the central location. We stayed in less busy places the rest of our trip but this was very fun too. And still completely private and quiet when inside. Close to lots of lovely shops and yummy foods. Great attention to detail with furnishings and really lovely garden and bath - just loved being there. Whole family thought it was gorgeous.

Having the fridge downstairs would be much better.

Absolutely beautiful building. We wished we could've stayed longer to take advantage of all the wonderful amenities provided and enjoy relaxing in the space. The view was amazing too. We will definitely book here again!

There was a huge huntsman spider that seems to have taken up residence in the stairwell. After our initial scare, we named it, left it alone, and it provided us the same courtesy. His name is Fred, please treat him well.

I love the place and the host. She was very friendly and the place has everything that you need. It was clean and very comfortable.

It's not a big deal but I'd hope the host can leave instructions for the aircon as it was japanese. Perhaps a instruction booklet for all the electronics like footbath controller

The photos do not do this property justice. It is by far the best place we stayed in Japan. It's like a zen oasis tucked feet away from one of the most photographed streets in the Gion District. After miles of walking the heated foot bath is the best. The view you get from the upstairs room of the temple is amazing.

It's not really a complaint but rather a warning. The stairs leading up to the bedrooms are steep.

Great house, great location and staff were amazing with a couple of questions we had. Really prompt.

Wasn’t a problem but good to be aware that the bathroom is accessed from outside. Some more information on the technical equipment would have been helpful.

Excellent location next to Hokan-Ji. 10 min walk to Kiyomizu temple and Yasaka jinja. 5 min walk to ninenzaka and sannenzaka. You’re basically in the heart of ancient Kyoto. Bathtub and footbath were amazing. The little garden oozes traditional Japanese culture. Having a washer dryer in house was a huge plus.
