We loved everything. The owners were exceptionally welcoming, we had a feeling that we came to visit our relatives. Our host helped us with arrival and departure to and from the Akabane station. So we didn’t have to walk with suitcases. Although the station isn’t too far away, walkable distance through quiet neighborhood, and from Akabane station to central Tokyo it takes about half an hour. For our accommodations we seek out a few things- good WiFi, cleanliness, private bathroom and Air Conditioning. Every point was met at Mokkoan. The beauty of Japanese garden view from our room made us almost not wanting to leave said room. Consider yourself very fortunate if you managed to get an accommodation at Mokkoan. We hope to visit Japan in the future and if possible come back to this beautiful place again.

We had a huge room with en suite bathroom which for Tokyo is an enormous luzury. Its a haven of peace and quiet from the buzz of the big city. The garden is also very tranquil.

It is a little further out that we rhought but once we got used to the trains it didnt matter so much.

The owner (and his family) was very friendly. He sent us good instructions how to get from the airport to Akabane station where he picked us up by car. The rooms were very spacious, clean and very well equipped. Breakfast was western style and freshly prepared with fruit, bread, coffee, tea, eggs etc. We learned a lot about Japan's history during our short visit and had great conservations during breakfast. Ito-san speaks English very well and he and his wife made a perfect first impression to our holidays.

Yasuhiko-san and his wife are lovely people, the property is gorgeous and comfortable and the garden is magnificent..

It's a bit far from the train station, but that is pretty much a non issue as every time we went Yasuhiko-san drove us to the station.

I really liked everything (and I mean everything) about this place (or should I say home!). From their going out of the way to do things for you, to their amazing furry baby (k chan), there's nothing you can't love about this place. The neighbourhood is really peaceful to stay at and the house is maintained really well - we got a glimpse of the traditional way of life in Japan. P.S. I'm vegan and they were super accommodating for the breakfast and even prepared soy milk for me - so do let them know in advance if you have any dietary restrictions and you can expect this to be taken care of :)

The only thing I don't like is the fact that I can't stay there longer! :( definitely coming back!

Mokkoan is an incredible hotel, run by the loveliest owners. Thank you Yasuhiko san, Chieko san, and Yuki san for your care - we loved our chats in the hallway and over breakfast with K-chan (the toy poodle), the orange marmalade made from the garden, and every part of our time here! The property is located in a quiet and safe neighbourhood, and the garden and rooms are very well taken care of. Staying at Mokkoan feels like staying in a thoughtful, peaceful oasis in Tokyo and it has left a lasting impression on me. In leaving Tokyo, I knew I would definitely miss Mokkoan and hope to have the luck to return. If you visit, please treat the owners + staff kindly, as they truly make this place standout :)

Yasuhiko Ito and his wife are super welcoming and friendly. The place is super clean, comfortable and cosy. Everything was just perfect and I would definitely recommend staying at Mokkoan when in Tokyo. It was truly a pleasure to stay at your lovely Hotel, Mr. Yasuhiko Ito. good location. many recommendations on the web saying that you should stay at around shinjuku, but i think this hotel location is better, it's quieter and less people, it's more like a local people place, and it's just 4 stops from shinjuku. room is spacious , clean and tidy, with a japanese traditional style. we stayed here for 2 nights and we had a really good expericence, the owners are so nice and we talked a lot at the breakfast time with the owners and the other guests in the house. it's a bit far from the station, it's still in walking distance, like 1.2km but the owner offers to drive us to the station and take us back when we are back to the station, so distance is not a problem. the breakfast there is also good which is inlcuded in the price and they offered their home made jam.

Everything was just perfect - the house, the atmosphere, cleanliness, food and above all the loveliest hosts one can imagine ! We were even picked up from the next station and deposited at departure.
