The breafast is very good. The owner and staff are very kind. The view is excellent close to Kinrin Lake. Remark : We rented a car from fukuoka and stayed at the hotel for 1 night. The next morning (23 Dec 2022) it snowed heavily. The hotel owner advised us not to continue driving to kumamoto due to danger and the expressway was closed. We had to return the car at Yufin, but contacting the car rental company was very difficult. The hotel owner and his wife were very helpful in contacting the company. Moreover, when we forgot our belongings at the hotel while driving to Ufuin station, the hotel owner drove to the Yufuin branch to give our belongings to us. Thank you for your help and kindness. including allowing our family to check out late without charge.

The stairs leading down to the rooms are quite steep. Somewhat difficult for elderly people or people with knee problems. But the owner helped to carry our bags for us both when checking in and checking out.

The hotel has unbeatable proximity to Kinrin Lake as it is located right on the lake and is part of the beautigul scenery. Step out the hotel, you can find 天祖神社 on one side and 下ん湯 on the other side. Take a stroll around the lake and you see the hotel sitting on the lake, like in a fairy tale. Guests can enjoy views of the lake from guest rooms, hot spring and the restaurant. Aiming to see the morning mist on the lake water (a special scene only in autumn and winter), we looked out from the window in our room at 7:15am and saw some mists start coming out. So we went for the hot spring (with lake view) first, then took a walk round the lake to enjoy the views of the hotel, red maples and morning mists before we headed back for breakfast. Breakfast set was freshly prepared. I especially loved the bread which was steaming hot and tasted perfect with the corn soup. The outlook of the hotel might look dated, but the interior is very well maintained and cleaned. Guestrooms are quite spacious.

It's 20+ minutes walk or a few bus stations from Yufuin Station. But it's worth the commuting.

The ryokan is located right beside Lake Kinrinko, the room we had was facing the lake which is very nice. I met with the owner of the ryokan and he is the 4th generation of the business, he is a very nice man and he can speak English. If you would like to have dinner or breakfast you will need to inform them one day earlier but it is really worth to have breakfast in their restaurant because you can sit by the big window and enjoy the view of the lake. It is walking distance to Yufuin Floral Village and all the nice eateries around.

The ryokan doesn't have elevator, best to pack very light to stay here. We kept our big luggages in the car and only took what we need for one night stay.

The property is right on the lake and very close walking distance to the attractions of the town. The hosts were very nice and also spoke great English. The onsens are also tattoo friendly.

If you stay, book dinner at the property. The restaurant attached closed earlier than the list hours. The open restaurants are within walking distance, but the area is VERY dark at night. This is called out in the posting so it wasn’t a surprise, but the shared shower area wasn’t idea as it was also in the indoor onsen.

This hotel was wonderful! The veiw from the room was beautiful. The yukata fit me even tho I'm a bit plus sized. We both loved the on site onsen. We were able to walk to the Yufuin shopping area in less than 10min. The staff were so kind, I actually had a medical emergency in the middle of the night and the staff helped us call an ambulance and waited around to help us talk to the emts. Despite the medical issues our stay here made the trip wonderful!

We loved everything about this hotel! Our room was lovely and the beds were comfortable, there were a couple of bugs around which is natural given the area so that was fine. The onsen itself was amazing, especially the outdoor one, simply brilliant 😊 Breakfast was fantastic and filling with a view of the lake to enjoy with a lovely cup of tea.

The only bad thing was that we couldn't stay longer! We will be back again and hopefully we'll be able to stay in this very hotel 😊

The location and the view was spectacular. The owner/s (?) were super friendly! I did not expect such a beautiful, clean, gorgeous room and great breakfast with an excellent view over the lake for such a small price. ありがとうございます♪

It is not a critique but people should be aware that the onsen is split between men and women - they take turns.

Great view of Kinrin lake, nice staff, good facilities. Japanese room is spacious. Breakfast was great.

During the day I stay restaurant as closed and need to walk to the town to get dinner(which most restaurant close very early)

I like everything about this place — location at the lake, comfort of the room, delicious breakfast, great onsen, wonderful staff n boss. This is the perfect place to stay in Yufuin. Thank you to the people who make this place what it is— from housekeeping staff to the owner.

This hotel is not suit with elderly or who have to use wheelchairs. The stairs are very steep.
