The breakfast was tops. Hot and cold entrees. Hosts, Lynn and Allen were very kind and helpful. We enjoyed the history and quaintness of the place and its closeness to St. Jacob's. Shower was excellent with good pressure and drained well. Was really helpful to have use of the small fridge and Microwave as well as dishes and cutlery. Appreciated the free bottled water and snacks. Would definitely stay here again.
Unfortunately we picked the room with the poster bed which had only one small window in an alcove. The AC vent was under the bed and not enough cool air was coming out. Thankfully the weather was not too hot. We could not open the window without getting a lot of road noise which made it noisy at night. Bed was quite squeaky when you got in or out and turned over. Next time we would pick the other double room at the end of the hall. Its smaller but has a larger window facing the side of the house away from the road noise.

Lynn and Allan are two wonderful and warm people and great hosts! The facility itself is very clean, tidy, tastefully decorated and supplied adequately. We enjoyed very much the quietness, and were impressed at how clean everything was. The bed was comfortable with adequate bedding. The private bathroom (one for each room, but you have to cross the hall to it) was also clean and well supplied with fresh towels each day, soaps, shampoos, and hotel-like little amenities such as the mini-hygiene packages, hair dryer, etc. The breakfast was really great: the homemade muffins, fresh fruit, juices, yogurt, accompanied by eggs and ham or bacon made an excellent and rich meal for the day. We highly recommend this place for anyone who whishes to have a quite and enjoyable stay while exploring the St Jacobs wider area.
Hard to think of anything else other than the old hardwood floors in the room were a little squeaky, but it is one of the oldest buildings in Conestogo, so I suppose it added to the charm of the place. :)

Lynn & Allan (as everyone else notices) are engaged & engaging hosts. Allan’s scrapbook about the village provides insights even some locals don’t have. Water pressure & temperature in shower are very good & the assortment of exotic shower supplies offers unique touches. Lynn really listens to issues about health & food, and provides warm muffins in a variety of flavors each morning. Both are creative artists. Make sure to visit with Joy, the poodle, who clearly feels *she* is the hostess here!
This is NOT disliking, simply informational. This is an actual historical edifice: not some fake replica: floors are not even, stairs are a requirement. Parking can require some automotive gymnastics.

1842 is located in Conestogo, just a few minutes outside of St. Jacob - Joel and I had never been there and were pleasantly surprised to find a cute little town with some unexpected welcome amenities including a wonderful restaurant and grocery shop allowing us to walk a short block for a lovely evening out without having to head in to the very touristy St. Jacob. Our hosts, Lynn and Allen, were absolutely adorable. Our room was even cuter than the photos (very rare), and the history of the building, from the plaster walls to the deep window sills, and even the art on the walls echoed the spirit of Ireland and was a pleasant reminder of our trip there just a few years ago. We were absolutely thrilled to find that each room came with its own private bathroom. We were leaving a bit early in the morning and Lynn was very accommodating in having breakfast available before we left. Fresh fruit and juice, tea, homebaked muffins, yogurt was exactly what we had asked for. The other guests we sat with were looking forward to a hot meal of eggs and bacon...

We had a great stay at the 1842 Bed & Breakfast. Lynn and her husband are very kind, generous and friendly people, they will make sure you don't need anything. Lynn prepared a very delicious breakfast. She accommodated as I am lactose intolerant.
The mattress of our bed was soft, I didn't like it as I am used to my firm mattress. But this is a matter of taste, my husband liked it a lot though. I also preferred that the bathroom is in the room, but again this is a matter of taste.

Lynn and Allan are an amazing couple, we have a great time staying at their beautiful historical building with many stories behind. Lynn's breakfast is delicious, especially her homemade muffins. Allan is a true artist and has many stories to share. Everything is perfect, we really enjoyed our stay.

We like staying in older, maybe even what some people might call historical homes. 1842 B & B is one those places. Sure the floors are uneven but that is an older building. Breakfast! What can I say. It would have cost $20 or more per person at a restaurant, and it was more or less an all you could eat breakfast. Bed was firm and very comfortable. Got a good night's sleep. Great host and hostess.
Being an older home people should know that there is not elevator although there is one room available on the ground floor. Our room had no individual thermostat and being located on a somewhat busy street when opening the window for fresh air one must expect some traffic noise.

The breakfast was amazing with homemade jam, fresh bacon and eggs, homemade jellies and muffins. We could not find a cleaner place to stay. All bathroom needs were supplied such as soap, shampoo and conditioner. The hostess and host were very friendly and you could not find a Moore immaculate place for your stay. It was close to a restaurant we walked to for dinner. We highly recommend this home.
Nothing, except if someone has an issue with stairs, all rooms are upstairs. Also, the bathrooms are not shared, but are outside of the room and right next door to your room. It was not a problem for us at all.

The breakfast was absolutely amazing. Such a generous spread and the Lois was able to accommodate all with my food sensitivities. Very cozy rooms and private bath. I also like that there was a little shop associated with the B&B and so could certainly browse. It was also very peacefully despite it having full accupancy! Overall we will be returning to this lovely B&B!!

Host are super friendly and great to chat about their passion for their work. Clean rooms, comfy bed, towels, air dyer and cozy bathroom too. Breakfast was like going to grandma, fresh warm muffins, big bowl of fruits and cheese omelet with delicious coffee. Liked the screened back patio.
Guest in next room came in late and taking a while. But apoligized to us next day at breakfast. Nothing to reflect on our guest. Rooms close together. I'd prefer handicap room downstairs next visit.
