Breakfast was delicious, with a wide variety of options, as well as a range of unlimited drinks. I enjoyed many iced chocolates and warm corn soups. I highly recommend the dinners there as well. We got to choose between at least 6 options. We only stayed for two nights but all meals were very tasty, with many side dishes and a small dessert too. The rooms were very comfortable and spacious. We had a riverside facing room and it was very soothing to fall asleep to the sound of the river. The tatami mats and the room was well maintained. The onsen was clean and quiet, with a variety of soaps, shampoos and conditioners. It was very relaxing, and we were provided with a guide about how to onsen. If you’ve never been before, I highly recommend going to their onsen! Thank you again to all the friendly staff, we had a great stay!

This was excellent accommodation in Kiso for us who wanted to experience walking the Nakasendo trail. On top of that, the reception staff were exceptionally helpful. On the train from Nagiso to Kiso-Fukushima, I realised I had left my camera behind in a noodle shop in Tsumago. I sought the help of Kiso Mikawaya's reception staff to contact the shop in Tsumago-juku. To cut a long story short, the 2 ladies An and Yen at reception went out of their way and located and arranged for the camera to be sent to our next accommodation in Kofu. Many thanks ladies for your wonderful help!

All the staff was so kind and helpful. The traditional japanese style bedroom was perfect. I enjoyed the onsen everyday. The breakfast was good and complete. You have yukata, free drinks including soda, tea, coffee and cocoa and others stuff. There is a laundry and a message chair. You can purchase dinner everyday. I would definitely go back.
In comparison to all the positive points it’s just a detail but if I have to find something I’d say that the station requires a 15-20 minutes walk, but the taxi is cheap and walking in the village is always enjoyable.

The room was clean and cozy, with everything I needed. I really enjoyed the sento—it was spotless, and everything was provided. The dinner and breakfast were excellent. The drink bar was fantastic, and I became a big fan of the tea. The staff were polite and friendly. The location by the river was beautiful. Yukata and haori were also provided. I slightly regretted only being able to stay one night, as I was on the Nakasendo trail. I would have happily stayed longer.
I booked what seemed to be the super-economy option, so the room didn’t have a single window, and the toilet/sink were quite a distance from the room. However, for the price paid and the services provided, this wasn’t a major issue.

A 15 minute walk from the train station or 5 min bus ride. The location was wonderful, very close to the historical town, Buddhist temples, a hike up the mountain side to a waterfall, and several restaurants. Situated right on the river, our room had a gorgeous view and the gentle sound of the river. The staff was very kind and went out of their way to help us on several occasions, pulling out their phones and using Google Translate whenever needed. The buffet breakfast was tasty and a good value with a wide variety of traditional and western foods. I definitely recommend it, as it's a small town and it can be difficult to find places that are open (we were there Sunday to Wednesday). We also used the laundry facilities and the onsen on site. They provide yukatas and slippers, but you also don't have to wear them. We appreciated the free soda, juice, and hot drink machines, and an ice machine! The room was spacious and very comfortable. It's an older place and maybe not as fancy as the much pricier options in town, but it's a great value.
There wasn't anything we didn't like about this place. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would come again.

Had a wonderful time in this hotel. Even though it can definitely use refurbishing, the rooms were clean and spacious, and the view of the river was the best part of it. Staff were kind and attentive, and location was quite good also. I would come back definitely and can recommend this hotel to anyone who is not looking for luxury but a nice and relaxing stay. Great selection for free drinks and teas in the dining room.
The nice space by the window was lacking some chairs to relax in, it may be challenging to just sit on the tatami floor. Also, dinner and breakfast were nice, but could use some fruits for breakfast. Carpets would need replacement but it did not really bother me.

The rooms were a lot larger than I expected -- they were almost like suites. I loved the vintage vibe of the entire place. There is laundry on the 2nd floor as well as a massage chair. There is a 24 hour drink bar in the restaurant which is a fun perk. The staff is incredibly helpful and accommodating. If you stay for more than 1 night, order dinner for both nights since the menu changes the second day. It is nice to eat in the hotel rather than having to walk to a restaurant for dinner. Most places around are mostly bars and require a walk. The food is thoughtfully prepared by the hard working staff. The breakfast is also nice, but cut off time for breakfast could be extended.
Early cut off time for breakfast. Wish it was open later for people who came for vacation and want to sleep in.

By choice we booked a bigger room, for the extra space, and it was affordable. We were late booking in Kiso-Fukushima and there were few accomodations left. But this hotel exceeded my expectations and we got the Japanese-room experience inside the room, with a "modern-ish" hotel outside the room. The hotel is a little older, but the staff is super-friendly, the location is good, and tour groups use this place. For a reasonable price you get a little of both worlds.
The buffet breakfast is OK. Passable selection.

Nice big spacious rooms with a bed for each of us (even our small children). Gorgeous view! The hot bath is constantly pouring in so it feels fresh. Free drink bar.
The breakfast was terrible. Considering the price we paid to stay here I expected something special but the food was instant slimy stuff and very few options. The place is also a bit deteriorated and neglected which wouldn’t bother me if the price wasn’t so high. The house keepers clean the rooms really well though!

Efficiently run establishment with a great staff and good meals. We had the meal plan which included breakfast and dinner. Breakfast was typical Japanese and nothing fancy but very tasty. The use of local vegetables in the meals was a real plus and we enjoyed the variety. There were different main dishes to select for dinner and we were never disappointed with the four dinners we had there. The house specialty chicken was exceptional. This establishment is homey, welcoming and comfortable to stay in. We walked to the train station, 16 minutes tops, and the town is easily explored on foot. Great little place to use as a base for day trips.
The property was perfect for our needs-meals included, onsen, walkable to the train station for day trips and helpful staff.
