The hotel overlooks the Nezame No Toko Gorge and waking to the beautiful mountain view each morning was lovely. The hotel onsen was very nice and we had it to ourselves during our stay. The staff were fantastic and helpful.
The location without a car can be a little challenging, although there is a local bus, or a taxi costs around Y1100 to Agematsu station (walk 30mins). It all works with a little planning. There are no food options nearby other than the 7Eleven, so best to eat in Agematsu, use the pre-booked hotel meal-plan or make use of the microwave in the lobby.

Got what we expected. Needed somewhere to stay between our road trip of Kiso Valley. Photos showed rooms with beds & or futons. We got the futons on tatami mats. Large enough room with shower / bath . Massage chair in lobby for 100 yen was super appreciated. Or foot / leg massager on second floor was also amazing.
We were told all doors are locked at 9 pm meaning you can’t get back in if you leave , so i stayed back to let my husband in if he was late getting food. I missed out on one of his best dining experiences where the chef caught his eel & cooked it in front of him, only to find out you could still come in through the side entrance door. Confirm this with front desk when you arrive as it would have been nice if I could joined him. 9 pm is too early for an all doors locked you’re SOL situation.

We had some dietary restrictions but the staff went above and beyond for us to accommodate this. We received very delicious meals for breakfast and dinner. The facilities of the hotel were maintained well and were easy to use. We had two queen size beds and a big room for us which felt like a luxury. Location of the hotel for our trip through the Kiso valley was also perfect. It was quiet all around the hotel and the onsen was the perfect temperature- great for relaxation after busy days in Tokyo.
Nothing major really. Maybe the breakfast and dinner times could be a bit later (latest was 18:30 pm and 8:00 am for us).

The rooms are big, they have a very nice public bath available and I recommend having at least one meal with them to try some traditional Japanese meal. It was very well presented and tasty. The hotel is located in a small village in the kiso valley and you can feel the rural peace.
If you go there I would recommend going by car. If you travel by train you need to walk about 25 from the station. Still doable but you need to plan the timings since public transportation goes infrequently.

Their hotel was very nice and close to the things we wanted to do. Our problem, not their's, was the that we couldn't find a car to rent and the town & train was 15-30 minutes away by foot. There is one taxi service in town with only 2 taxi cabs. We managed but a car would have made a big difference! We really liked the breakfast that we purchased there and they even made it early for us when we had to get an early cab to leave by train.

How amazing! A solo traveller has a room half the size of a house. This is a true Ryokan: table with Japanese-style chairs, desk & chairs, sleep on futon, etc. Toilet is in the room and there is a public bath. My first time in a public bath so I asked about the process and ettiquette. It's quite straight forward when you know how, and what an extraordinary experience. The staff were most helpful and if you don't speak Japanese it's no problem. I can't comment on meals but I assume the same quality experience applies and in true Ryokan style I expect that the food is Japanese (which I recommend in hindsight). The hotel is a little remote from Agematsu station and the roads there are a bit tricky so I took a taxi when arriving and departing. Access with large luggage was no problem. Surroundings are scenic - I had a great view of Kiso River from my room - and there's surprisingly quite a bit to see near the hotel. There's even a combini just down the road.
I didn't like the fact that I didn't order meals when I made my reservation. A reservation in advance is a necessity for meals and ad-hoc requests take a couple of days.

Hotel meals tasted great and were well-presented. Baths were hot and relaxing. Room was spacious and clean. Staff was friendly and welcoming. Easy to find, right on main road, but quiet (road noise was not a problem). Lobby has some books (in Japanese) to browse.
Location is good or bad depending on your transportation. Without a car, it's a 25 minute walk from the Agematsu train station. But it's right next to Nezamenotoko Gorge, which is pretty. Some areas of hotel feel outdated, such as restaurant.

Our room was comfortable and clean, with a fantastic view of the Nezame-no-toko Gorge. The onsen was nice and well maintained. Another perk is that the hotel is in a pretty and very quiet part of town, but there's easy access to the local bus. Finally, we were able to use the wifi from our room.
For those without a car, the train station is a 30 minute walk by foot, so you may need to catch a bus or call a cab.

The hotel was on the Nakasendo Trail and made convenient place to stay. Other than that, if you want to do the Nakasendo Trail there is very little accommodation on the trail, unless you go on an organised tour.
Unless you obtain a meal option plan when booking, the hotels will not accommodate the guest with meals. There are no nearby shops to buy food,

The hotel is located in an amazing valley with astonishing view from the rooms. It is traditional ryokan with beautiful garden, the room are spacious, the staff are helpful and friendly. The gorge is close by the hotel.
Many restaurants around do not work late in the evening, so just be aware of that. There is actually nothing we did not like, everything was really great!
