Wonderful night at this very special place. We absolutely loved the history of this little hotel. It is utterly charming. The setting is idyllic and as we arrived we were treated to dolphins playing in the fjord outside - magical. The room was comfortable with beautiful views. There was some noise from other rooms (running water, a floor board creak) but this is part and parcel of staying somewhere so authentic and it didn’t disturb us. The staff are so helpful in every way. The stories told before dinner were fascinating. A walk around the village is a must. The food, both breakfast and dinner, were locally sourced and utterly delicious. We just loved this special spot and hope to return for longer. The glacier museum nearby was also brilliant.

Fantastic boutique-type family run hotel in the most beautiful setting on the fjord with views of the glacier. Very comfortable room with view of the fjord. We opted for the dinner menu in the restaurant - all locally sourced, very high quality and delicious food with a bottle of great wine chosen by the owner. Breakfast was fresh, plentiful and delcious - again all local and seasonal produce. A very interesting talk before dinner by the hotel manager on the history of the hotel and the area - fantastic and kind service from all the staff. Exceptional place and the best hotel on our 3 week trip. We had an issue with our room caused by Booking.com that the manager sorted it straight away and offered us some compensation - she was brilliant and so helpful. Fjaerland is such a wonderful place and not blighted by the tourist cruise ships. Also visited the glacier centre - very interesting.

Our experience at the Fjærland Fjordstove Hotel was lovely. The quiet village, beautifully restored and maintained hotel, wonderful staff, exceptional dining and the views to knock your socks off! It was our 20th anniversary and it was a magical time. In reading other reviews there is the mention of the high cost of the accommodation and food and we agree but the cost was easily understandable as the Fjaerland reaches for the highest quality for its guests. So, it is our recommendation to get past the cost and you will not be disappointed:)
No issues only wonderful experience.

This is among the most charming hotel I have ever stayed in. The building is old but perfrectly refurbished and the rooms were full of furniture with character. The window opens to the fjord and in the mornings and evenings, the cliffs are reflected on the water. It is situated in a (mostly closed during off season) hamlet by the fjord and the short walks were magical. Orcas apparently appears on and off
Rooms can be small. we found ouselves under the stairs? not a criticism but if you like bigger rooms, just know there are larger ones. the small rooms are exremely cosy. Just also know that other than tourist season, reseve your dinner as there are no nearby establishments.

We had a great breakfast, loved the waffles. Location was great directly on the fjord. Lounge area was very relaxing with beautiful view's. Bed's were very comfortable. There was a hot tub which looked great, but unfortunately we couldn't use it as it was booked out. Best to book in advance. We ended up going to a floating sauna near by which was amazing.
Dinner at the hotel was very expensive. So we didn't end up eating there. It would have been great if there was cheaper option's available.

Beautiful quirky hotel with small rooms full of character. The hotel has been furnished with antiques and in Nordic style and is positioned right at the waters edge… delightful. Staff were so friendly and helpful it felt like home. The food was delicious.
We loved everything as we like antique style and character but some may find the rooms small and the shower room basic.

Gorgeous location right on the water, wonderful lounge and sitting room we could use at any time of the day, great breakfast, and the staff were wonderful and always helpful. In fact the staff made the hotel feel so welcoming and comfortable they outshone the location.
The restaurant only served a very expensive 3 course dinner so we only ate there one night. It would be better if it offered less expensive options and we would have eaten there more. It was a quite a long drive to find other places to eat so finding an affordable dinner meal was the only disadvantage of this hotel. There are narrow steep steps to the rooms which was not a problem for us but would be difficult for mobility challenged guests.

GEM OF A PLACE HIGHLY RECOMMEND Food was out of this world local produce, beautifully presented and so tasty. Lovely selection of beers and wine. Views of fjord from inside (lots of windows) and outside terrace that sits on the water/fjord that wraps around building. A unique and personal hotel with lots of character and gorgeous decor. Rooms individually decorated and very cosy and comfortable. Staff unbelievably friendly. We did the floating sauna and swim 2 mins down the road and the glacier museum.
Absolutely nothing. I just loved the vibe and character of this hotel. A truly memorable experience. Thanks to all the staff and chefs x

The dinners were amazing and the staff was wonderful. The room was comfortable and the location was good.
The sheets were a bit scratchy and there was no fridge in the room but the staff put our food in the kitchen fridge. The breakfast was good but they sometimes ran out of forks or salt and pepper and it took a bit to replenish. The room also didn’t have a lot of places to put your suitcases and at night one night there was no hot water for a shower

Everything. Literally, everything. Dinner was amazing. Staff so wonderful. Comfortable, charming (though small) room. Setting, views, stunning lounge area. I’m not often at a loss for words, but Fjordstove Hotell has left me (almost) speechless. But did I mention that dinner was amazing?
The only thing I regret about my stay here is that it wasn’t longer.
