The location was wonderful and our view was spectacular. The lobby is gorgeous and immaculate.

The dinner was too crowded and staff was rude. We were expecting a better welcome as guests but were forced to sit near a large group when we asked for a window seat. My friend got Covid a couple of days later and we suspect it was from where we sat. Hotel guests should be given priority and not forced to sit next to huge tour groups.

The view from the room and restaurant was spectacular. The sitting rooms were beautiful with a wonderful view

The restaurant meals were very expensive. There was an inclusive deal including dinner but that was not advertised on booking.com. That would have made it more affordable.

Gorgeous view! Buffet is excellent and so is the staff at the restaurant. I’d also recommend lunch at the bar. The lounges were elegant and perfect for relaxing with a coffee in the evening. While the room price was expensive, I found the cost of food and drinks to not be overpriced. We had a really nice stay and it’s worthwhile to experience the beauty of this hotel and the surroundings.

The modern building is really hideous but nothing they can do about that now, the view is excellent on the fjord side. However this hotel is very expensive and I’d expect more attention to some details like the furniture on the terrace, the lack of tea/coffee making in the room, and lack of basics like shampoo.

Beautiful , old world hotel in a stunning location; staff very nice; room was big and view from the room was lovely; grounds well maintained; grocery store and restaurants near by; Restaurant evening meal was over-whelmed on our first night there--a tour group...we therefore ate in the bar area and the food was delicious. Tea and coffee are available in the lounge area in the evening and this is a wonderful treat; Breakfast is outstanding and the view from the breakfast room is wonderful;

there is a steep walkway leading from the ferry dock to the hotel; it has no railing and so in wet weather it is particularly treacherous.

The views of the mountains and fjord from our room were phenomenal. We were blessed with warm, sunny, long days, lighting up the sky, green trees, garden shrubs, blue water so just loafing on the veranda was a special event. The building is of great historical interest.

The well known dinner buffet was way more expensive than it should be. The breakfast buffet was included in our plan. The entire dining experience was damaged by flies crawling all over the uncovered food. All the dishes were over-salted, spoiling the flavor. The dining room is set up for large bus tour groups, so chairs and tables were cramped together. We visited in late May, before high season, so the tables were less fully occupied.

The view from the room were amazing! The historic part of the hotel is a must see. There's alot of history there, including antiques and old artwork. The view from the dining and lounging areas is also spectacular. The dining options were great. We chose to eat a la carte in the bar for dinner and a nice buffet for breakfast.

We were there in early October, which is apparently the end of the season. Unfortunately, everything in town was closed. It's a beautiful landscape to walk around though.

The breakfast was served in the old heritage dining room. The place was huge and high ceilings. The views of the fjords and village were stunning. The breakfast variety was best quality and variety. Myself and my husband are vegetarians but still had many options.

I feel the service could have been more attentive. The young boys and girls were’nt really bothered and would’nt even look up to the guest. They were like robots.

I paid extra for a fjord view room, and we got a room with a balcony in the "modern" building on the 8th floor. The view was spectacular and well worth the extra cost. The view made the entire stay! The dinner buffet was bountiful and delicious. The breakfast buffet was good, but not as amazing as the dinner. We also ate in the hotel bar one night and that food was well prepared also.

I wish the room had a tea/coffee maker, or some bottled water or even drinking glasses — there was none of that. The bathroom was clean but only had a soap dispenser attached to the wall (no other bath products). It was a very basic room overall, with a bed that was sort of soft (not the best but not the worst quality).

The gentleman who checked us in was fantastic! Great personality and full of information we needed with a smile and a joke when it was needed. The ladies who were there later and in the morning were rather snooty but I probably would be too dealing with the bus loads (see below). Food was good as well.

The only reason we gave this hotel an 8 is because it is the drop off eating place for bus after bus after bus so it was always loud with rude people who didn’t care about the patrons.
